Who’s gonna be moving the cannons? Set them up in the back with not even orders, but scout sentinels giving ignore indirect fire penalty+the artillery detachment ignoring cover, and it will easily outperform most anti-tank

Navy Breachers are gonna be a great proxy for the Combat Engineers. They have shotguns, heavy weapons guy, the Sgt., the Axes can proxy the Clubs and you can even use the C.A.T. as the Demo Charge. And they are pretty flexible models in terms of styling to fit an army - except for Catchans I guess.
So GW does this on purpose right? Make the new units incredibly busted to get everyone to buy it, nerf it to the ground few months down the line, and rince and repeat.
Since the Grenade strategy is named, it can be used multiple times by different engineer squads. If you want to use it as a normal strat, however, you have to do it first.
Of course they’re good, GW wants you to buy them. Once sales targets are met they will nerf them so the new stuff can be really good and you want to go buy those.

The Engineers will never stay at 35pts and it is mind blowing that they, even though they should totally know what the pts will be when they release, still release a full article with pts that will be instantly wrong the week they come out. Oh boy this will be an expensive army to collect. We are frightening close to 1€per point. Like really they could have added like 20 kriegsman to the box. What we have now would be a bad deal for a combat patrol. And this is much more expensive.
Some units are worse than that. These engineers are likely to be somewhere around the £40 mark if they fall in line with all other infantry, putting them around 1.5 euros per point. Dont fall for it, just convert kits
That's assuming you're only buying the box for the stats. Most people interested are interested in the aesthetic or the early codex, and points are going to go up anyway, so I don't consider it much of a concern.
This infantry based guard army will fold to flamers and bolters. It will look awesome as you pack models into your box. The direct fire heavy weapon has 9 wounds if you take 3. It makes a cool Kill Team
I'm almost certain the points are intentionally low-balled to try and market the box as containing "must have" (overpowered) units. Once the next balance pass comes along, the box will probably jump to 375 or so.
The examplary 1k point list cost by my estimates 558€. Thats kinda insanse. If they dont make 20man squads like with the solar auxilia and are quite cheaper than i expect on all new units (which would surprise me) than a full army would be extrem expensive. I already own quite some kriegsman but i dont think it will be worth giving them an full Army upgrade.

I'd try to kitbash up some Cadian version of these to go with my "Cadian Veteran Guard", maybe with a Legions Imperialis Rhino or one of the robo-dogs for a bomb, but by the time they're done they'd be nerfed into unusaility.

11:00 Get your self a box of palanite enforcers. Equip them with the shotguns/bolters. They come in a box of 10. Equip them with pistols and shock staffs for the other loadouts.
The 'Blast' ability should have a number attached. That way, stuff like the Multiple Rocket Launcher could have a 2 and double the unit size bonus. As it is, the fixed +3 attacks is a smaller and smaller advantage the larger units you are firing at, which seems stupid. It wouldn't make it viable on its own, but as far as I can see, the siege cannon not only matches but outperforms the rocket launcher if there are 20 cultist in the unit instead of 10.
At first I thought the artillery statlines weren't too bad. Then I remembered that Scout Sentinals allow Guard to outright ignore every change made to Indirect since early 9th. This is gonna get hilariously ugly.
Scout Sentinels only ignore the -1 to hit when firing indirect. With indirect fire now always missing on a hit roll of 1-3, indirect guns will only ever hit on 4+ at best.

There is no doubt in my mind that these points will not last, they will be changed by the next rules update. I can guarantee that the engineers are going up to 50 pts, and the artillery going up to 80 or 85 pts. You know what? That is fine, because we all know that will be happening and can ask the question would I still take the unit at a higher cost. I for one think that combat engineers would still be very usable at 50. Would it be an auto include of 3 in every list? Of course not, but I can see 2 ending up in many of my lists. Same with the new artillery, though I am a little more bullish on them then I thought I would of been. Even at 85 pts I can see slotting two of these into an army just because having cheep indirect fire is nice to have. Particularly at str 12 AP-2 and 3 damage, goodby TEQs.

TBH idc about the PPD in the Krieg box set. Do the models look good? Yes. Will I have fun with said miniatures regardless of in-game stats? Also yes. Points and rules are subject to change. Death Riders and Drier might become unplayably bad next edition, but that will never stop me from owning them. I was always a fan of Heavy Intercessors, even when they were shit! Meta sheep who buy and sell whole pre-owned armies whenever a Balance Dataslate shakes things up completely miss the point of the hobby side of Warhammer for short term "happiness" and self gratification.

Like you can get a 10 man cataphrakti terminator squad for far less and they provide more points. Hell compare 2nd/3rd ed armored fist vs normal platoon (25 dudes minimum) money cost.... So for me this isn't a shock. It's an collectors ed army box with less game value. If your goal is to just buy models to play skip it. If you really want some unique stuff (like a book that will be obsolete) or early jump to paint go for it. What size base is the new field gun? 100mm? 120mm? I got (perhaps) the last FW resin Earthshaker battery so I want to proxy it. The barrel is all twisted so I may just kitbash a Medusa to represent the new battery.
Shame they've they made it a 'Siege Cannon' instead of the old Earthshaker Cannon Battery. That would've been prefered by all, I believe

Comparing the siege cannon to the multi rockets is hilarious. And everyone thought it looked so cool too and no one will ever use it because there's no reason. You can just use the siege cannon against infantry for better results.

So indirect hitting on 3s w/ reroll 1s, Str12, Ap2 Damage 3 with more possible rule stacking we dont know about yet. Got it. Seems totally "fair" at 75 points.
You can't hit on 3s when shooting indirect. 1-3 always misses.
If the box contained 2 unit's of engineers and 1 unit of Krieg it's would be an instant purchase even then it's not outstanding
It'll end up being 380 points. The MFM will put the points up a fair bit.
There is no doubt in my mind that these points will not last, they will be changed by the next rules update. I can guarantee that the engineers are going up to 50 pts, and the artillery going up to 80 or 85 pts. You know what? That is fine, because we all know that will be happening and can ask the question would I still take the unit at a higher cost. I for one think that combat engineers would still be very usable at 50. Would it be an auto include of 3 in every list? Of course not, but I can see 2 ending up in many of my lists. Same with the new artillery, though I am a little more bullish on them then I thought I would of been. Even at 85 pts I can see slotting two of these into an army just because having cheep indirect fire is nice to have. Particularly at str 12 AP-2 and 3 damage, goodby TEQs.

Is Drier limited to death riders, or can he also lead rough riders? He's kind of pointless if he can only lead death riders, conversely he'll be somewhat broken if he can lead rough riders.

TBH idc about the PPD in the Krieg box set. Do the models look good? Yes. Will I have fun with said miniatures regardless of in-game stats? Also yes.
Points and rules are subject to change. Death Riders and Drier might become unplayably bad next edition, but that will never stop me from owning them. I was always a fan of Heavy Intercessors, even when they were shit! Hey man, don't knock them too hard. I'd never be able to afford sisters of battle, imperial guard armies if not for rage sold army sales on reddit/ebay/Facebook. Those chasers provide a needed service by selling cool stuff (that will be good again in next edition anyways) to us normal collectors. often sold grey for 50% or more off msrp. :p
I mean i get where you start but its still a bit iffi if you compare it with other gw armies and boxsets. Like you can get a 10 man cataphrakti terminator squad for far less and they provide more points. They mifht surprise us with some box prices but if not it will be hard to collect them and not going for mass tanks.
Especially since the base infantry cost extra thanks to kill team.
@uwesca6263 I mean I collected krieg over the last 15 years so I'm pretty used to high prices. But it doesn't change that this box like all launch boxes are valued due to special ed codex and getting "early access" to stuff. The people who only want the last part will sell it all after a nerf.
If you want to collect guard I mean shit dude since 2nd ed it's been pricey af (God praying for special weapon clamshells I was there) to go infantry heavy. Never been cost effective in money. Never. Hell compare 2nd/3rd ed armored fist vs normal platoon (25 dudes minimum) money cost....
So for me this isn't a shock. It's an collectors ed army box with less game value. If your goal is to just buy models to play skip it. If you really want some unique stuff (like a book that will be obsolete) or early jump to paint go for it. If you want value wait for better boxes, sold lots or 3d print or kitbash. Always that way with greeddubs

People are really saying no way to 35 points for 5 troops with shotguns and a flamer. They'll be picked up essily like any current t3 army. Shotguns are a joke. It's pure fluff.
You just conveniently ignoring the amount of mortal wounds they can throw out? Or that they scout so easy screening and secondary scoring in turn 1. 35 points for all of that is insane. Unless you play on maps with no terrain.
