    I own a D4 fantastic vehicle wish the designers realised that you might want to keep the car for more than 7 or 8 years. They are very difficult to work.

      He did OK because the dirt was loose the only thing he did wrong was that he didn't build enough momentum. For loose dirt you need lots of momentum and 4high

    Done that all wrong. You should be using 4L in gear 1 and let the car do the work instead of throttle. Same for going down and foot off the break.

    It made a meal of it though, what I would done is, gone up first in the Nissan Patrol GQ Y60 TD42 inline 6, stopped at the top, took the lid of my coffee, threw him a rope, then just gently pulled him up, with the Nissan just purring..........

    • @chaquisa1

      @@chaquisa1 a Patrol TD 4.2 no match for a Discovery 3 with a crank made of cheese? Are you joking? Better built, better off road, much better engine, world class, ultra reliable......

      @@richardburns5925 Mate there is NO comparison .My Disco has done 460000klm Northern Territory out back with NO issues ,My TD42 only made it to 295000klm Blown motor number 1 cylinder .Bent 2 push rods and valves imbedded in the top of the piston Took huge gouge out of the bore .I had spent 20 grand on suspension ( 3" lift on 35's) and still the ground clearance was not as good as my disco with 32 s.They are renown for twisting drive shafts and blown wheel bearings .Standard they go nowhere .Discos run rings around them even when people spend Huge dollars on them. Reliability is only a myth with these and Toyotas .believe me i have towed dozens here in the outback mate ! You blokes have no idea ,but to follow like sheep on vehicles that are a piece of Jap shit to start with then turn around and suggest they are great vehicles after spending 50-70 grand on them to make them even half as good as a land rover. My disco is twin locked on lifted coils and i tell you there is not a Patrol or Toyota that can keep up .Land Rover Discovery 3;s are tougher than you think mate !

    • @richardburns5925
      @richardburns5925 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chaquisa1 that's unlucky dude. But traditionally, Toyota Land Cruisers and Nissan Patrols have been the vehicle of the outback. Nissan Patrols are being shipped from the UK to Africa at a premium, they can't get enough. Landrovers have always been unreliable, why do you think the new Defender is more of a city SUV, looks like an inflated Skoda Yeti? Because the Defenders customer base, farmers etc have shifted to Isuzu and Ford Rangers and Hilux and Mitsubishi. They lost their core customer base. As for the Disco 3s engine woes, I can't find anything good about them, modern Landrover products are garbage, diffs, gearboxes, engines. At least with a series Landrover you could mend it with a hammer and gaffer tape. Tata rubbish. Defenders were primitive, uncomfortable and terrible to drive compared to a similar era Toyota or Nissan. All farmers, gardener's, mountain rescue, coastguards, builders etc have moved on to jap stuff for work horses or the Ranger is popular, the Landrovers are in town shopping in Sainsbury's car park!
