    In this episode, we cover a weathering technique that matches the prototype...ergh, is close to it anyhow. We'll visit Mr. SOO LINE himself, Bob Rivard and take an overview of his RR. While stopping for a moment to push though to the end, by seeing a father-son duo, work together.
    All of this and more, only in this episode of Soo The Milwaukee Road.

      Thank you kindly, it’s subtle and not the greatest outcome, but you get the idea. The previous users flat finish left a little to be desired, but that’s what is so enjoyable about the hobby…finding areas to improve.
      Thanks for tuning in, sharing your feedback and hopefully you’ll enjoy future episodes. Take care!

      Im with ya Mike…the “Q” did have these cars as well, so you were close. Just a different number series. Im with in missing the Milwaukee, it’s all but gone. A former GP40 2010 sits at Humbolt, but it’s gotta be dead & drained, it’s not moved in YEARS!

      You said it Bill! Bob it a wizard and ahead of his time…recording the radio live, on camera, no editing. He’s been such a great help with the content he’s provided. I always wonder if people get bored with the prototype footage, but with the chatter on the radio?!? How could ya get bored. Next week you’ll be seeing a lot of your work on display. PDC.ca is where it’s at!

    Another great video. Bobs use of the scanner while taking his video is fabulous. I've been using the Q-tips while weathering, really helps blending with the mineral spirits, so as to not overdo it. Keep up the good work!

    • @SootheMilwaukeeRoad
      @SootheMilwaukeeRoad  ปีที่แล้ว

      Bob was wise to record the scanner chatter, it’s cool to hear the communications. It’s like attending a NHL hockey game, with a radio, to hear the play by play. The radio makes the game more enjoyable and the RR videos more entertaining. Could you understand what the GP40’s engineer was saying as he signed off?!?
      Thanks for following, now to complete a few more projects and maybe do an update on the GN in 1970?!? 🤔

      The crew chatter is GOLD!!! “It’s gold Jerry, GOLD!”
      You’ll find time to dial in your fleet…try weathering a car a week or once a month and by the time you’re retired?!? You’ll have ready to roll rolling stock. 🤔
      Thanks for watching & posting!

    This episode was well worth the wait and glad you were able to overcome the technical difficulties uploading the video. The radio communications between the crews was fantastic. It gives you and idea of ways to add that type of communications to an ops session. Thanks for the tour of Bob's layout, it is nice to see how others model a prototype line. I enjoyed seeing how you weathered the doors, great techniques that I'll have to apply to my next weathering job. Already looking forward to the next episode.

    • @SootheMilwaukeeRoad
      @SootheMilwaukeeRoad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You nailed it as always Tom, killer feedback. As I know you’re a former “hogger” and get the prototype world. That’s one of the best elements of your videos, you bring us into the actual movements and that brings life to our RR’s. Thank you for being a positive influence to so many and sharing what you do. Anyone that hadn’t seen your videos by now, needs to check ‘em out the Georgia Northeastern is such a cool little RR. Let’s hope S07E04 gets up the hill, without needing a pusher. 😆

      @@SootheMilwaukeeRoad Thanks for your comments on my videos and my contribution to the hobby. That means a lot to me to hear that from excellent modelers like yourself. With S07E04 you need to notch up slowly, turn the sanders on, and tell the pusher to start wigglin, and it will get up the upload hill just fine! 😉

    I could watch you weather a car for 20 minutes. I ‘think’ it’s just you weathering it. All those voices sounds like you have a team working on it. The Taco Sauce Team.
    “I’m shovin the slack in” “Just wiggle it” Sounds like how my Valentine’s Day went.

    Excellent video, unfortunately I've missed all but the first of this season, guess I'll just have to play catch up and binge watch today! I myself am a fan of those big HiCube auto parts cars, I have a bunch of the 86" and 60', love the weathering on those doors, I will say your videos is what turned me on to the Tamiya washes and the AK pencils, I ordered a bunch of them after I started following you, great to know Bob Rivard is still at it, Bob was one of my early inspirations when I started out, used to love seeing his work in MR, really cool to see his layout in operation, I like the helix view at 10:18, saw one of the "Dolly sisters", the old prototype footage is awesome, railroading just seemed more casual back then, especially the radio conversations, love when the train went by and the guy on the caboose and the other on the switcher leaning on the rail chatting, what the Curmudgeon said rings true I'm going to the train show in Rock Island tomorrow and I'm sure I'll be guilty, great work as always, catch you in the comments on the next one
