      Top comment material right there…I’m incredibly lucky to have such an amazing wife. She lets me do my thing & sees how much enjoyment I get from the hobby. It’s a win-win-win.

    William, Congratulations on 91 episodes, and I am looking forward to Season 7. It is nice for viewers to see that things don't always work out perfectly the first time (or maybe even the second time), but in the end you learn and improve. Thanks for sharing your tips and techniques. You have motivated me to add license plates to my vehicles and weather them with taco sauce of course. Glad to see you took the kids out railfanning with you, you got to start them early. The locomotive crew was nice to give them a wave and horn salute. Great episode and I appreciate all your work on the videos.-Tom

      Thanks Tom!
      You’re one of the classiest modelers I’ve met. From your willingness to share content, to your support of the progress of fellow modelers work.
      We’ll see if we can’t keep this momentum going and share more wins/loses as the RR evolves.

    Nothing has to be "ground breaking". There are many modelers who are still rather new to the hobby that need/want to see these things that more mature modelers may see as boring or elementary!! Thanks for the cool Vids!

    • @SootheMilwaukeeRoad
      @SootheMilwaukeeRoad  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well said, it’s the basic techniques that we think are “basic”, but many may see them as advanced, we need to start somewhere.

    William, I love that you’re rail fanning with your kids. My Dad took his kids rail fanning too! I’ve always loved the MILW. I’m designing my railroad now and have refocused it on the MILW in the WI river valley through Wausau in 1976 because of the life long love of trains I got from my Dad. Standing next to the Alcos RS3s and RSD5s as they lugged cars around the yard in Wausau. Fond memories. Thanks for putting the 7th season together!

    Good stuff! It's nice to see you bring your kids railfanning. I love the look on my daughters' faces when the engineer honks and waves at them when I take them with me, it really makes their day! Looking forward to the rest of the new season!

      Thanks Joey, we’ve got a lot of ground to cover in the next 9 episodes. If you enjoyed this one, the next few are going to be pretty solid too…I hope, tomorrows just finished uploading…now yo start next Fridays. I’d like to be a few weeks ahead, but that’s not happening. 😬
      Thanks for tuning in and sharing your thoughts. You’re spot on with the kids enjoyment, bringing you enjoyment. It’s fun to see them light up and the subtle honk from the engineer is priceless, it gets ‘em every time. We’ve had the opposite too, I’ve been flipped the bird more than once. I don’t lose sleep, I just wave back and in a few cases, took their picture.
      Have a great weekend and hope ya enjoy tomorrows Ep.

      Greg, we can’t think to hard as modelers…we’ll waste all the good modeling time, trying to figure out the square root of the hypotenuse…calculating the height of an elevator. People modeling large industries are borderline nuts…no math needed there, that’s a fact! 😂

    I once did yoga with Alanis’ mother. True story. Great season opener and I always say this, but that was the fastest 18 minute video I’ve ever seen. Glad you’re back and not ballasting. The amount of time you put into that Civic is inspiring. Subtle details. Once I clean my big greasy meat hands maybe I’ll give it a try. But first… cat videos!

      Mark, how did we not comment on the Alanis’ mother & yoga statement?!? So many questions, did the Alanis apple fall far from the tree?!? Did you subject yourself to wear spandex?!? Last, but not least…and more importantly, “What brought you to doing yoga?!?” And please don’t say, “Alanis’ mom.” 🙈

    • @MMRails
      @MMRails ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SootheMilwaukeeRoad You know what they, what happens in yoga stays in yoga. 😉 Alanis was born and raised in Ottawa as was I. She became rich and famous and bought her parents a nice house in the country. We used to live in the country and were neighbours. My wife wanted to try it, I repeat, my wife wanted to try yoga and so we went. Once. Alanis’ parents are salt of the earth people. So now
      I have a pair of $100 yoga pants from Lululemon that need a new home. (Catch the reference?)

    • @SootheMilwaukeeRoad
      @SootheMilwaukeeRoad  ปีที่แล้ว

      You said it Mark…I’ve probably gone beyond the weeds and am lost the the forest by now. You’ll see tomorrows episode takes us to detail insanity, to the level of being “a LITTLE insane”. You’ll enjoy it for sure!
      Who knew, “He’d put it on his taco if he could.” Would develop into a cult classic. Splitrock helped nudge it along, by actually spoofing the sauce on a taco.
      It has been an easy go-to for all things weathering.

    William, first - I'm ever so glad to have you back for another season! Fun and informative stuff. Second, a tip I got from another You Tuber - Mr. Clean Magic Eraser now comes in sheets It works very well to clean up extra "Taco Saouce", and it can be used to remove SOME excess weathering or to "feather" colors together. It also works well on some manufacturers factory lettering (allowing for easier renumberings, etc) I got mine at a large supermarket for just under $4, so it's not a bad investment.

      Thanks for tuning in Graham, if you watch them twice…then you’ve got 182 episodes. 😂 I’m pretty sure that’s not how it works.
      More MN&S to come…I know you’re a fan, so I toss in the MN&S for those that appreciate the short-line.

    I really like the patch job on your silos. looks like maybe white pencil or chaulk? This is a detail I would like to add to many of my silos. It might make an interesting how to in an upcoming episode. Thanks!!

    If you're looking for a good lens that can actually be lit, (via an a SMD LED) Details West part # LN-341 is great. You can dip an LED in a dab of your favorite super glue and glue it right to the back of the lens. Fits right in most light housings.

      Boy, that’s a deep cut…the SkyDogs would probably known as well as RUSH, but the bass guitarists for the SkyDogs got into model railroading, which derailed the trajectory of the band.

    Not sure how much money people think you make from TH-cam?
    If I can get me and 2/3rd of my kids some brown wrapper burgers at McDonalds, I have had a stellar month as a TH-cam influencer :) :) :)

    are you still using the AA batteries in the protothrottle? what else did you do to slim it down? cheers

    • @SootheMilwaukeeRoad
      @SootheMilwaukeeRoad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m actually using AAA batteries now…they’re smaller and have lasted months, without needing to recharge…yet.
      I just filed the pins and PC board as far as I could. The spacers between the LCD screen and the processor were removed. It’s honestly something I won’t probably ever attempt again…as it’s very time consuming, only to slim it a few more mm’s. 🤷🏻‍♂️
