It is worth mentioning that RAV4 prime has a heat pump, it has a better warranty and history on hybrid components, 0 to 100 under 6 seconds, longer range and a 120V outlet for microwave. And worth mentioning the excessive use of piano black trim and no volume knob
Great test. I really like this Tucson and thank Andrea's mom and Phil for letting both test it. Zack you can take them out to supper. This test came out last Saturday and that was the best day of the month. thanks again for a great test.
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed the review. Really happy Mom and Phil ordered one so we could do the review. There is nothing available in the press fleet.
Wow that’s a lot of standard features!! I travel less than 50 km a day normally. I can’t imagine not having to spend lots of money each week for gas. Time to get on board. Awesome. :)
Amazing amount of features in the base model! It's the same with my Mom, she does short trips everyday and is looking for a cleaner drive and rarely going to the pumps.
I use to by gas 2-3 times a week, now I have a kia niro phev and buy gas once every 2 week. 850 miles per tank vs 300 makes a huge difference with todays high gas prices.
I am a car enthusiast and watch a ton of car reviews everyday. It’s the first time I heard the reason why the Hyundai/Kia’s 10.25 screens do not come with wireless carplay/android auto. Great job, Zach and Andrea!!! BTW I own a Kia Sorento PHEV Prestige here in the US, grabbed it when I found it at a dealer once I heard the cars started reaching the dealers early Oct last year.
@@microtransactions2661 52 lifetime mpg out of total 4000 miles driven (I plugged in as much as possible), but it used to be 62 mpg before I took a few road trips from New York to Boston totaling 1000 miles approximately without the chance to charge the car. In summary your driving routines and charging habits determine the ultimate mpgs for plug-in vehicle. I also expect mpgs to improve when weather gets warmer.
Awesome review as always from the two of you! I don't have a place to plug overnight at my apartment, so I went with the standard HEV in great part because of your previous review on that. I love it!
It’s such a hot buy!! We’ve already ordered an Ioniq 5 for my wife and now I’m seriously thinking about ordering this Tucson PHEV. Thank you for a great review! Jealous to your mom, Andrea :)
Both the hybrid and PHEV are sold out in Canada and the Rav4 hybrid and PHEV are need impossible to get. I'm starting to wonder if the car companies are purposely limiting product in order to keep the prices up?
Thank you very much for this review. I ordered the PHEV on faith, having only test-driven the HEV. And also thanks for finding out why there is no wireless CarPlay/Android Auto; I will happily go without that to get a proper navigation system (which is one big reason I ordered the Tucson instead of the Santa Fe). And thanks to Monica and Phil!
Back in October I was looking at the Tucson PHEV. All they had was a Santa Fe PHEV in stock. Instead of waiting for three months I took the Santa Fe as that was the only PHEV in stock. I couldn't be more pleased with the quality and the 75 Miles Per Gallon.
Thank you, they are really happy with their purchase and thanks for watching. The neighbour likes it so much, he's going to the dealership today to put a deposit down. Might be a long wait!
@@13moonmaiden The quoted cost is just under $53,500 in Ottawa, but this is for the 2022 model. We will get a 2023 model and won't know the final price until that model comes available and we place a firm order.
Thanks so much (and to your Mom) for this video. As you say, it is impossible to get to test drive the PHEV model. Certainly, I have driven the HEV version and it is terrific. The only downside is having to think about waiting a year for the car! It is vastly better value than the RAV 4 Prime.
Thank you for watching! It is not easy getting any vehicle these days without some sort of a wait time. But, plug-in hybrids and hybrids are very popular right now.
I’ve been watching this channel for a while and for sure Andrea has added a lot to it since she joined Zack in making the videos with her diligence in finding, memorizing, and presenting valuable information and numbers and providing a feminine and family-friendly perspective about cars.. great job guys your channel is the best for me now
Be sure to also test drive both options before reserving your vehicle of choice! I test drove both the Tucson and Rav4 hybrids (PHEVs were not available on the lot) and the Tucson won out by a landslide. The Rav4 engine sounds like a straining engine that reminds me of a child trying to get chores done whereas the Tucson had more pep and just got to work. For those with kids, you know 😅 Road noise was pretty noticeable and the interior felt ‘cheaper’ in a Rav4 as well.
So I just bought one today in Toronto. They are only doing 2023 orders and the production date is aug 2022 and delivery likely within six months after that gove or take. They removed some small features like wireless charging but added a larger screen. I didnt go in looking for this model at all but went over all the hybrids, hybrid plug ins and ec's and for me this one seems to be the best considering I am just not 100% sold at the current infrastructure
If it's your mom's car you have to give it a good review no? 😉 Just kidding. I love hyundai products, been buying their cars since 2011. We just got a new Santa Fe in the summer but almost went with the tucson. Your review helped!
Haha, I did recommend this SUV when she was looking for a PHEV so it better be good. It's amazing what the Hyundai Group is putting out these days. The 2022 JD Power Dependability study has Kia #1, Hyundai #3 and Genesis #4. That's incredible!
As an owner of an HEV Lux in Canada, this segment is super confusing now with Hybrids and Plugin Hybrids in the fold. Add in feature sets across the competition and its difficult shopping between them. You guys did a great job organizing the pros and cons of all the vehicles in this segment and im sure your viewers always return for quality content like this example.
Awesome review! Agree that the white looks fantastic. The Tucson, to me, is the BEST looking compact SUV on the market (call me crazy, but I somehow get Lambo Urus vibes). It's edgy without being over the top. Interior is beautiful. I have a Mazda CX-5 and driving is fine, but looking at a Hybrid for better fuel efficiency with rising gas prices and 184hp is at least 20~30hp shy of where I'd like it. The Tucson Hybrid or PHEV is on my wish list (or the Genesis GV70 but wish they had a hybrid.) Keep up the amazing reviews!
Thanks for the great review. PHEV is what makes the most perfect sense when mating an ICE to the electric motor, that's why they sold like hotcakes. Hyundai and Toyota will compete in this very competitive segment with their nicely engineered products. Except for the lack of physical volume knob and spare tire, Tucson's overall package is more attractive than those of the RAV4. That's until Toyota have a complete redesign of the RAV4 in a few years.
One of the cons I hear about the Hyundai/Kia PHEVs is that the engine comes on ALL THE TIME even in EV mode for various reasons (temperature, engine maintenance, etc..). This is something that's often important to PHEV owners as many want to operate them as BEVs and use the engine for longer trips.
When you start up the vehicle, you hear the engine going on and when it's idling, but I got up to 100 km/h on the highway and was in pure EV mode. When you accelerate quickly, the gas engine comes on. We have a follower who bought a Tucson PHEV and he has had it for about 6 weeks now and has never purchased gas, he has a pretty clean drive everyday.
Does it have an electric heater or it needs to start the engine every time you want to heat the cabin? I think it's impossible to drive it in pure EV mode in the winter if it needs to use the ICE for heating the cabin....Am I correct?
Depends on weather. In Summertime it operates very much as BEV, and does not require engine to cool down interior. But winter time the ICE is almost always on, unless you have driven in sport mode and everything is moderately in a good temperature. Overall - expect more ICE in wintertime (depends on your local temperatures).
An owner of Tucson PHEV here. I haven't owned the RAV4 but I've owned the Corolla 2020 HEV. While I am quite happy with the Tucson overall, one thing that many reviews, including this one, fails to mention is that the gearbox performance isn't as good as on the Toyota. It can be slightly jerky at low speeds with the ICE running. On full EV mode it's less noticeable. Yes, with the e-CVT you get more noise, but the ride is butter-smooth. It's one of the things Hyundai should improve. However, I'm ok with it and it doesn't bother me that much really, given the acceleration performance you get. Also, the Tucson does not have an electric heat pump - so you have to accept the fact that it runs the ICE to warm up the cabin. Luckily, when there is sufficient battery charge, it does not seem to power the wheels, so the RPMs always stay at around 1200-1500. So it does not consume a lot of gas, but should be mentioned nevertheless. I live in the Nordics, so quite a cold climate here. I have the second trim level (called Style in Europe - it's the first one that adds the 10,25" screen) and it does not come with any kind of remote start functionality (there is only unlock, lock, start charging, stop charging). All things considered, it's still a very capable all-rounder and a great vehicle for this price point.
Very good PHEV choice - compared to RAV4 this Tuscan is cheaper with more features, looks great and above al No CVT. The 6speed automatic will give better driving dynamic. Great job Hyundai. If I am getting a PHEV this is the one for me.
Toyota corrected the height-adjustable passenger seat in the 2022 RAV4 Prime. Both Kia and Hyundai have compelling PHEVs, but I wish they had a bit more EV range and came with spare tires. I like the looks and color options of the Sportage a little bit more than the Tuscon. These vehicles are great values, however, and will both sell well.
Thank you for this video. Some days ago I ordered a Hyudai Tucson Hybrid. I'm looking forward the day I can pick it up at the dealer's site. I ordered the teal blue color which - in my opinion - is best for showing all the designing edges of this beautiful car.
Excellent review! I am definitely going to consider buying the Hyundai! I keep questioning myself due to what people might say because it’s not considered a luxury SUV🤔
Its not really marketed as luxury SUV though, but it is very well fitted for the price. For luxury some fiting needs improvement, and sound isolation/window lamination should be improved.
I have been waiting since November for my Tucson Ultimate. White with light gray interior. September they say now. I am so excited it is in the que of being made now.
Very insightful review! Am curious, what are your thoughts/considerations comparing this Tucson PHEV vs. the Sorento PHEV (& I suppose the Santa Fe PHEV as well)?
The turn signals down low in the bumper is a head scratcher. Hyundai Kia and Infiniti do this. They are hard to see in heavy traffic. Seems like car designers go out of their way to be different and end up making things worse sometimes.
They are both very good, there isn't a huge difference between the two. When you are in EV mode in the Tucson PHEV and you accelerate quickly and need that extra power, the gas engine comes on and it takes a moment for everything to work together. However, there's plenty of power I like the PHEV because if I am doing short trips like my Mom does, she can have a pretty clean drive everyday and will rarely need to buy gas which is what she wants. If you do longer trips everyday, the Hybrid might be a better option.
My advice to car buyers is, if you own a good car outright today (like me) with no monthly payments, keep it for another 2-3 years. Wait till this chip shortage and model availability issues are long gone. In 3 years they'll be many more PHEV model choices, better dealership negotiating ability etc.. and you have the time now to put cash away for this new PHEV purchase.
Thank you on this video.... Love it. Do you notice 2nd row floor higher than none plugin version due to battery? Also the tunnel height, it is closer to the floor?
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it! I didn't notice the floor being higher in the second row myself but I couldn't compare back to back. It's a very comfortable second row and spacious, I like how the seats recline.
@@andreaspencer9813 I read the spec provided by the dealer that the 2nd row floor higher by 6cm. It is really painful to watch the waiting list to go down by 100 per month in Canada. Cannot wait for my PHEV when gas price hits all time high right now.
I took my Tucson PHEV on an 8000 km (5000 mile) road trip from Calgary to Nashville and back. It was mostly Interstate and Trans-Canada highway driving. There was only one opportunity to charge the vehicle in the whole trip. Even so, fuel economy was acceptable: 7.6L/100km (31.1 US MPG). Range per tank, with an uncharged battery, was only about 500 km (300 miles) because the physically large battery means a smaller fuel tank. If long road trips are your thing, the HEV would serve you better, but the PHEV did acceptably well even when charging was not conveniently available.
@@ochar4633 It's been a good experience. A cruise control switch on the steering wheel broke and was replaced for free under warranty. That's it so far. Fuel economy is better in the summer than the winter because the gas engine needs to run to keep the cabin warm; I expected that, and it does not bother me.
Thanks for the prompt reply! We are in Calgary as well and are waiting for our 2025 Phev Tucson. Good to hear you haven't had any issues. Do you change the oil yourself?
Just wondering when in electric if you put the heater on will the engine startup because the Santa Fe when in electric and you put the heater on the engine starts up so much for saving fuel🤷♂️
I have ordered Tuscon phev after this review. Same white color. I drive about 60 kms one way to work. I would like to see if you can do a video on efficiently using phevs for longer drives, thanks.
FYI: Hyundai stopped shipping Tucson PHEVs to Canada in early August 2022. They resumed shipments in late January 2023. People with confirmed factory orders placed before the December 2021 cut-off date are receiving notification from their dealers that their vehicles are on the boat to Canada. People who ordered 2022 models will be getting 2023 models instead, which have no significant changes.
My Mom is so happy, she loves it. Their neighbour likes it very much as well, he is heading to the same dealership today to put a deposit down. Hopefully you will get your Hybrid soon, I really enjoyed driving it.
I find all of your reviews highly informative. Zack, I know you don't like push button shifting but I think it is great to see that again. When I was a kid (70 now) our Plymouth station wagon had push button shifting and it was considered quite the thing!
We went on Saturday for the 2024 phev white on gray and we get it between today and Tomorrow I can't imagine waiting over a year unless it's a really expensive luxury car that you ain't getting with no other brand but I do like this way more then the rav4
Another great review. Andrea looks fabulous in black and red! Zack is a lucky dude! I have Honda Clarity PHEV. I love it when it runs on EV mode, but when the engine e is running, it is a different animal. I am debating between another PHEV crossover like Tucson or a BEV like EV 6 or Ioniq 5. Well, I can keep my Clarity another year and can make a decision then.
I live in a desert area with summers ranging from 100-115 degrees. Does this prevent all-electric driving for the first 30+ miles when the air conditioner is needed? Would I be better off with a plain hybrid instead? Love all of your reviews as they seem to always deal with what I want to know...but with personality. thank you.
Ask Phil if he gets claustrophobic with the divider between the driver and passenger seats. The driver seat is a cockpit, the side window is high up and the divider between seats is too high and too wide.
You did not really cover what key features are only accessible via the touch screen. Personally I really hate using a touch screen for something I need while driving (like adjusting the heat or air flow). Although my last two cars (about 20 years of driving) both had steering wheel controls for the radio, I almost always reached for the dial. I wish the rebates for BEVs or PHEVs were based on range, not battery size. That seems to be what you really want to incentivize.
Heated and ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, temperature controls all have touch sensitive buttons, you don't go into the screen for any of these. Navigation, how much EV range you have left, phone and music are all done through the screen. The infotainment system is intuitive to use and is just like all Hyundai vehicles that have this larger 10.25" touchscreen.
Our Tuscon hybrid coming march30 after long wait. PHEV was too long to wait. We test drove everything including luxury brands. Hyundai/Kia killing it. Just need to wait for boomers to get over it.
Love your videos! In fact, I have a deposit down on this exact car (2023 Tucson PHEV - white with black interior). You are correct; a looong wait until delivery - likely late this year or next winter. Anyway, just wondering if your Mom & Phil have any issues with the car? I belong to a Tucson community site, and although I take the comments and complaints with a grain of salt; just wondering about your Mom's car and issues/recalls of any insight you might be able to provide. Thanks for your in depth reviews!
Question: whenever we see Zack in the 2nd row, are the front seats set all the way back? When I saw Zack behind the driver's seat, was it in Andrea's seating position, or Zack's, or all the way back? Thanks!
@@Motormouth... thanks for the reply! I think Zack is 6ft (and possibly taller?). I am asking because I am 6'2"... so Zack sitting back there for all your vids has been a good reference point for me
Great review ! The small battery was a mistake on Hyundai's part. Rav4 is gouge gouge city and last August they told me 2023 delivery if I put a deposit down at almost 20K more than Hyundai. I decided not to wait for Hyundai or get the shaft from Toyota and picked up a new 2020 Honda Clarity in White Rock well below the cost of the Hyundai. Its a fantastic PHEV if you don't need an SUV. I got over 52 MPG in HEV mode from Vancouver to Edmonton and real world EV range of over 55 km in -30 weather.
Thanks for your great review, as always. I'm trying to decide between this car and the RAV4. Obviously availability is the issue and the lack of a few key features. RAV4 overpriced and dealers doing a little gauging.
There is definitely more value with the Tucson, the Prime just can't compete feature to feature on the base trim. My Mom had a 2018 RAV4 and she just can't believe how much more she gets with Hyundai, it just feels more premium to her.
Be sure to also test drive both options before reserving yours! I test drove both hybrids (PHEVs were not available on the lot) and the Tucson won out by a landslide. The Rav4 engine sounds like a straining engine that reminds me of a child trying to get chores done whereas the Tucson had more pep and just got to work. Road noise was pretty noticeable and the interior felt ‘cheaper’ in a Rav4 as well.
@@cynthiakj9979 I would like to drive both PHEVs but neither are available. I don't think driving the hybrid version is the right basis to decide on the drivetrain.
Hi, Thanks again for all great reviews, question about the Climate Control specifically the AC function. Can anyone answer question if the AC cooling will operate when either PHEV or Tucson hybrid are operating in only electric mode , without having to activate the ICE to turn the compressor, asking because live in South Florida, 84 F. temp here in February, it would defeat the reason to purchase as we use Cooling AC near 12 months of year. Believe Hybrid Toyota AC. compressor runs on electricity, but not sure about Hyundai
Thanks for the review. My PHEV Ultimate 2022 is on the list of Dec 2022. Do you think at this moment i will get my Tucson 2022 with the same price or 2023 with the new price.
I just got on the reservation list this month. They told me it would be a 2023 model for delivery early in 2023. If you are receiving yours in Dec 2022, then its probably a 2023 model as well. The 2023 Tucson Phev models are rolling off the line starting summer 2022. By then the 2022 models will no longer be in production. Wether you get the 2022 or 2023 price will depend if you already signed the purchase order.
It’s hard to get excited for any vehicle that’s next to impossible to buy. The elephant in the room here is the lack of ability for manufacturers to ramp up production of vehicles in such high demand.
They won't, more $$$ for dealers to squeeze out of the pockets of suckers who fall for it... As much as I'd love to even test drive one all I see on lots are a few base models no one wants.
AFAIK Hyundai is not able to supply all the neccessary sensors and electronics to match the demand. They are even cutting some out of next Ioniq 5 model. (like reducing self-driving from level 2 to level 1.5 to skip some sensors).
Thanks for this video. The problem with Tucson is that the gas engine starts for any reason in «pure» electric mode. The RAV4 is a lot better on electric mode. The 87 km of electric range mentioned for the next gen of the Outlander PHEV has been evaluated with WLTP standard. Electric range with EPA standard will be reduced by about 15%.
Zach, you're a lucky guy, and you two do fantastic car reviews. Thanks! This one is helpful as I decide on Tucson vs. Santa Fe vs. Kia Sportage and Sorento.
Ugh!! I really really think this is such a great deal. I wish there was a mid trim tho! But yeah I think I'll wait until the 2023 model to come out and jump on it.
Hi Like the hybrid.. I enjoy camping. Can the automatic climate control in cold or hot night while sleeping maintain a 70°F temperature. My Prius turn on engine to charge battery.to maintain heat or a/c.
I was wondering if the side mirrors are power folding on the PHEV Tucson. I have a 2020 Santa Fe Limited and really like it but I have a property I recently bought with two single garage doors and would like a vehicle with power folding side mirrors. I’m thinking of going a little smaller with the Tucson and while making a vehicle change go PHEV. By the way my Santa Fe is white and I also love how it contrasts with all the black. I also enjoy all that Hyundai gives you at a great value.
I am sure at some point Ford will come out with an AWD option on the Escape PHEV. This Tucson PHEV is a tough one to beat especially with all those base model features. The list goes on....
@@nickolastiguan This price point is quite low, I wonder if Hyundai is going to increase it or leave it the same. There's great value in the Santa Fe PHEV as well.
I placed a deposit on a Tucson Limited PHEV back on June 06, 21. I also placed a deposit on a VW ID.4 Pro S AWD in Sep, 21. Still waiting on both (either)... In the meantime, I was able to find a local Kia dealership that has 3 GT-Line AWD EV6s due for delivery on March 6th. I went ahead and put a deposit on one of those as well. Honestly, the PHEV Tucson makes the most sense for our needs, but I'm kinda hoping that EV6 makes it here (Colorado) first.
It's really a tough time to buy a vehicle with the chip shortage. Sounds like you got in early on the EV6, that might be the first to arrive for you. Can't wait to drive it, we are getting it next month to review.
@@andreaspencer9813 Hi Andrea, I'm revisiting this after re-watching this video review. It's a very very very long story, but the short of it is, we ended up with both the EV6 and the Tucson PHEV. I had been without a personal car since July of 21', when I had sold my VW Alltrack (long story behind that as well), and had been banking extra cash every month to use as a nice down payment on whatever we decided to buy. Well, we purchased the EV6 on Feb 26th, and a week later we received an email from Hyundai USA stating the Tucson was (finally) scheduled for delivery. We ended up trading in my Wife's (aging) 2013 Acura RDX and buying the Tucson on April 18th. If you would have told me 10 years ago that I would end up with two "electrified" Korean cars, I would have laughed at you. However, both cars have been absolutely fantastic, and we really lucked in to being able to get two new vehicles in the midst of rising gas prices and a vehicle shortage the likes of which I have never seen. The EV6 is my daily driver, and my Wife drives the Tucson. We added a Grizzl-E (Canadian company) charge station to our garage so we can charge both vehicles at home as necessary. My Wife is religious about charging the Tucson when the battery is low, and is averaging 160mpg with it so far (has only had to fill it up once). She loves driving the Tucson, as it has a more "conventional" feel to it, and I love the EV6. She also has back problems, and the Tucson is easier for her to get in/out of. I could go on and on (did I say it's a long story...), but I can honestly say that if you're considering either vehicle, they are both excellent choices. Anyway, I love your guys' reviews!!! The back and forth banter makes them really entertaining, and your husband/wife perspectives make for very well rounded vehicle reviews. PS: Needless to say I cancelled the ID.4 order and VW refunded my deposit with no issues.
@@davidgiles9751 That's amazing David, congratulations, two fabulous choices. Thank you for sharing your news, really glad you are enjoying your new vehicles. Thank you for the support, happy you are enjoying our reviews.
So this car gets the spare tire if it isn't a hybrid, and the Santa Fe has a spare tire, unless it's the turbo! Is it possible to buy a spare tire from the dealer or a tire dealership that will fit securely in the same space as the the models that have it?
Am a follower to your great reviews... thanks. My Tucson PHEV is being made this month in Korea! As current owner of a RAV4 (last year of the V6) I have lusted for the Prime... Then Tucson appears with an engineering perspective that outshines the Prime: real 4-wheel system, non-clamorous turbo, not a CVT, not to mention the step-above design of exterior and interior... I am sold. Sorry Toyota, I know you will do better; but meanwhile, something better has come along! Anyone for the Tesla stocks in its early days?
I would avoid any Hyundai PHEV like the plague…I own a 2017 Hyundai Sonata PHEV, which experienced hybrid system failure on i95 (nearly causing an accident) on Aug 31, 2021. Two months later, during which time the Hyundai dealer made two unsuccessful repair attempts, I picked up my car only to have Hybrid system failure occur for the third time before I even made it to the first traffic light. The service center then told me the car (under warranty) needs a new battery pack, which I have been waiting for over the past FIVE months. The car has been out of service for SEVEN months and Hyundai has refused all buyback attempts. I bought a new Rav4 Prime in Feb…..If I ever get my Hyundai back it will be sold.
Just an update regarding EV rebates, federal government has changed requirements for PHEVS, the tucson now qualifies for the full 5000$ rebate since it has a range greater than 50 km in EV mode.
For the life of me I can't understand why the wireless android and carplay isn't available on the ultimate trim but is available on the lower trim models. Can someone explain that to me? I can wrap my mind around black holes, the infinite universe, the scale of the our solar system, but I can't get this one.
I recognize the area are you in the Ladner/Delta area? 😂 hello from Burnaby. What are the BC / Canada rebates like for this? Is it rebated directly at the time of purchase or through a mail-in or over time rebate system?
can you please talk about RIVIAN R1S. Is it too premature to order it? How does it compare with Lexus/ Acura MDX (I know it is not apple to apple) But as a buyer i am weighing my option to go for Lexus/ acura or Rivian. thx
It is worth mentioning that RAV4 prime has a heat pump, it has a better warranty and history on hybrid components, 0 to 100 under 6 seconds, longer range and a 120V outlet for microwave.
And worth mentioning the excessive use of piano black trim and no volume knob
My Tucson is scheduled to ship in May 2022. I’m now 461 in priority sequence.

Thank you, they are really happy with their purchase and thanks for watching. The neighbour likes it so much, he's going to the dealership today to put a deposit down. Might be a long wait!
My wife and I have our name of the list for a 2023 Tucson Ultimate PHEV. We’ve been told we might expect delivery in Dec 2022.
Awesome! I guess patience is key these days, something to look forward to at Christmas.
how much did they say it will cost? What location are you buying from?
@@13moonmaiden The quoted cost is just under $53,500 in Ottawa, but this is for the 2022 model. We will get a 2023 model and won't know the final price until that model comes available and we place a firm order.
Mine should arrive in a mth and a half
Did you get it?
Awesome vehicle! I am very happy for your parents! Great video Andrea! 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you so much, really glad you liked it! They couldn't be happier with their new purchase, they have a great SUV.
Got lucky today! Walked into a Hyundai dealership and they just had one available at the, beginning of April. Bought it immediately.
Ur Mom has great taste and smart...look what came out of it!.
This should start pushing EVs to mainstream soon. Great review team
Thank you very much! Really glad to hear you enjoyed the review.
I’ve been watching this channel for a while and for sure Andrea has added a lot to it since she joined Zack in making the videos with her diligence in finding, memorizing, and presenting valuable information and numbers and providing a feminine and family-friendly perspective about cars.. great job guys your channel is the best for me now
Thanks for the kind words!
Wow, thank you so much, we are really happy to hear you are enjoying all the content 🙏
"I'm going up to the top floor.. This is housewares." LOL Love the comedy incorporated within all of your videos..
For those with kids, you know 😅
Road noise was pretty noticeable and the interior felt ‘cheaper’ in a Rav4 as well.
So much goes on behind the scene....awesome research.
Thank you so much for producing great content.
Thank you very much, we appreciate the kind words, means a lot! Glad you enjoyed the review.
Wonderful review but can't wait to hear your thoughts on the 2022 Kia Sportage - you guys are amazing - love all your reviews - Cheers
Wow, thank you so much! We are waiting for the Sportage to arrive. Looks like we will get the EV6 before the Sportage.
Wow, thank you so much, we appreciate the kind words. - Andrea
Lucky I ordered mine in October! I see you can't even configure them on the Hyundai site anymore.
I know, I noticed that when I was doing the research. So crazy, my Mom ordered hers just in time.
Thank you so much for the kinds words, really glad you enjoyed the review.
Thanks for watching, glad you liked the review!
I think all car companies will focus on EVs going forth, and not spend time and money on redesigns of current ICE/HEV/PHEV models.
RAV4 Prime is way better looking than Hyundai. Hyundai's interior looks good, but exterior is a NO. The face is downright ugly.
Shout out to Andrea's mom. She's got her own place in this channel even without showing up. Nice car ma'am.
I love my Tucson. My work is close to home so I’m almost not using any gas. Most of the gas I’m using is just to heat the cabin.
Good choice!
Excellent review! I am definitely going to consider buying the Hyundai! I keep questioning myself due to what people might say because it’s not considered a luxury SUV🤔
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed it. Great value, that's for sure!
Its not really marketed as luxury SUV though, but it is very well fitted for the price. For luxury some fiting needs improvement, and sound isolation/window lamination should be improved.
Don't live your life worried about what people think 😂. If you like it, go to it
I have been waiting since November for my Tucson Ultimate. White with light gray interior. September they say now. I am so excited it is in the que of being made now.
Very insightful review! Am curious, what are your thoughts/considerations comparing this Tucson PHEV vs. the Sorento PHEV (& I suppose the Santa Fe PHEV as well)?
Hopefully you guys will have a Kona N on hand to review :)
The turn signals down low in the bumper is a head scratcher. Hyundai Kia and Infiniti do this. They are hard to see in heavy traffic. Seems like car designers go out of their way to be different and end up making things worse sometimes.
Between the Hybrid version vs the PHEV, which one do you think drives better as far as acceleration, fuel economy, & value ? Thanks Motormouth.
It’s pretty impressive for the price! New sub, I really enjoy your to the point reviews!
With what we r paying for gas right now in Vancouver nice too see something like this Tucson that is affordable and looks cool at the same time.
Absolutely!
@@shichynwang To be honest, it wasn't really noticeable to me. I know it is so hard to wait, you definitely have to have patience these days.
Like Mom and Phil's Tuscon PHEV. Good review.👍
Fantastic review. I’m sold for sure, just need to find one.
Hello. Do you still have the Tucson PHEV? How has the experience been? Any issues? Thanks.
So happy I purchased my 22 Tucson hybrid
Good choice!
Fantastic, I really enjoyed the Hybrid as well, great fuel economy.
Just wondering when in electric if you put the heater on will the engine startup because the Santa Fe when in electric and you put the heater on the engine starts up so much for saving fuel🤷♂️
Are you going to receive the Hyundai Elantra Hybrid Limited any time soon? I would love to hear your thoughts on that car.
This could replace my AcuraRDX… The price of super is a great motivator!
Over in Europe and UK all trim levels get the same size screen the larger screen is standard fit.
Very exciting for your mom :) It looks great! I got the Hybrid SEL. Hopefully, it will be here next week its been pushed back since early Jan!
My Mom is so happy, she loves it. Their neighbour likes it very much as well, he is heading to the same dealership today to put a deposit down. Hopefully you will get your Hybrid soon, I really enjoyed driving it.
A shame you didn't take it to the drag strip. Shred the tires! LOL. Looks sharp Mrs Andrea!
Thanks to Andrea’s mamma for sharing. And for giving Zaccherino such a great co-host! 👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you for the kind words!
Love all of your reviews as they seem to always deal with what I want to know...but with personality. thank you.
Hi Guys,
Great review on this segment .
Thank you so much, we appreciate the positive feedback.
@@andreaspencer9813 My pleasure and I'm looking forward to seeing more reviews.
Great review!
Thank you so much!
Ask Phil if he gets claustrophobic with the divider between the driver and passenger seats. The driver seat is a cockpit, the side window is high up and the divider between seats is too high and too wide.
Once my lexus lease is up, I'll be getting this. Full electric is just too expensive to justify the cost. PHEV is perfect as a daily driver.
Engine oil dilution and several other problems on these units. Look up for Hyundai TSB 23-EE-002H
Awesome, congratulations! Loved the Hybrid too!
Nice review, thanks!
Thanks for watching!
My Mom and Phil haven't had one issue and they are absolutely loving their Tucson PHEV. - Andrea
Question: whenever we see Zack in the 2nd row, are the front seats set all the way back? When I saw Zack behind the driver's seat, was it in Andrea's seating position, or Zack's, or all the way back? Thanks!
Actually, the driver's seat caddy slid the seat back, so there is actually more room as you can see on the passenger side.
So it gets around in the snow well?
@@bigzachful with a set of blizzacks on I have had no issues and we get lots of snow and ice around Edmonton.
Over summer (+35C) the AC did not require ICE at all. If you fit within 55km range, the Tucson operates almost as BEV in summertime on ECO mode.

Unfortunately the mirrors are not power folding. My Mom wishes they were but has learned to live without them.

I feel like this is what the Escape PHEV could/should have been, if it has AWD.
I am sure at some point Ford will come out with an AWD option on the Escape PHEV. This Tucson PHEV is a tough one to beat especially with all those base model features. The list goes on....
@@andreaspencer9813 the South Korean must have signed hell of a trade deal with us, In order to price their vehicles’ price so competitively.
@@nickolastiguan This price point is quite low, I wonder if Hyundai is going to increase it or leave it the same. There's great value in the Santa Fe PHEV as well.
Is the hybrid plug in charger included in the price or is it an accessory that is an additional cost?
Does the Tucson charges the battery from the gasoline engine too if it runs out of battery? Or you just carry a dead battery with you
Does the Tucson PHEV offer one pedal driving? (in EV mode, of course)
I hope RAV4 fixed the annoying coil whine every time you break. I test drove few months ago and it was really annoying.
Excellent review and beautiful smile

How much can the Tucson 2023 phev ultimate can tow in Canada?
Does it come with plug-in Android Auto instead of the wireless?
Just an update regarding EV rebates, federal government has changed requirements for PHEVS, the tucson now qualifies for the full 5000$ rebate since it has a range greater than 50 km in EV mode.
For the life of me I can't understand why the wireless android and carplay isn't available on the ultimate trim but is available on the lower trim models. Can someone explain that to me?
