One of the big factors with the Korean hybrids Is that they use a stepped automatic rather than a E-CVT. So they drive a lot more like a regular car. If you're coming from a non-hybrid it's a lot more normal feeling. The Toyota products use a planetary split device that essentially drives like a CVT. Has a little bit of that rubber band effect. A lot of people don't like that.
Agree 100% . Bought a Toyota CHR 2.0 hybrid with 184 horses, it is way faster than our last Diesel Skoda, the lack of gears makes the car really comfortable in the city, but horrible on the weekends when you are trying hard to enjoy yourself.
@@at9670 Yeah the CVTs definitely can take some of the fun out of it. Although in higher power output models like the Camry or RAV4 they're actually quicker 0 to 60. You can also sort of learn how to make them do what you want them to do. On the Toyota hybrids they are not a belt and cone style CVT. There are a planetary split device, extremely simple mechanically and very reliable. Just change the transmission fluid every 50,000 miles and they will last basically forever. I've got a 2008 Prius with 390,000 miles. Somebody in our local Prius group has a 2007 with 580,000 on it. Do your oil changes every 5,000, change the transmission fluid every 50,000, flush your coolant both for engine as well as the inverter coolant side I think it's every 7 years. make sure that the battery cooling intake vent doesn't ever get blocked or clogged up with dog hair or dirt or dust. And every once in a while every few years you might even pull the fan out itself and give it a cleaning. Toyota has essentially been building the same hybrid design since 1997. Parts of gotten smaller and lighter and more powerful and more efficient but the basic design is essentially the same.
@@kens97sto171 duuuuude, you are a saint Kens97! Would you say that 5000 miles is overkill? I was going to do a service interval of 7500 miles because I didn't trust the standard 9300miles (15k KMs in europe) that Toyota tells you. The petrol here in Italy is pretty good quality, but i drive 80% in the city with occasional highway trips. Also sometimes i do few miles and i feel like the engine never reaches the normal running temperature, what can I do to counter that? Do more occasional trips? Would i risk clogging the intakes or something? Thanks for your insight, i really like the Toyota for the ease of mind, compared to our last Diesel Skoda, it was pretty impressive that you could get 745 miles fully loaded, and with a tank of 15.8 gallons of diesel at 75mph , but in urban driving the car got only 32mpgs.
The upside of the driving dynamics with stepped auto is nice for regular driving, however, where it really falls short is the regen braking or slowing down on hybrid power (I suspect reason for some mpg loss over competition with CVT). I'm not sure if they fixed it, but wife had a 2017 Niro with a hybrid stepped auto, great for driving and accelerating, but coming to a stop felt so unnatural and the car as if shuddered.

I've gotta say, Hyundai/Kia has really been turning heads lately and have very much improved, making a distinguished look for themselves. It's like they've found their character, and it sets them apart from other automakers and it looks really good, fits them well. I have to say that I'm quite impressed with them lately.
@@logan_kes every brand has reliability issues their 10 year warranty is very reassuring and I can confidently say that Hyundai/Kia products have dramatically improved and I can say they are good vehicles
Yeah it's annoying that Hyundai and Kia fanboys act like they have never seen a modern automobile before, especially when Hyundai and Kia have been doing this for 3 years😂
My wife and I both bought one of these, I am pulling 38 MPG on average. She (who drives like a granny) is pulling 42 mpg and she is a travel nurse. So the MPG and the style is the reason we bought these. AND WE LOVE THEM...
I just bought this car a week ago and I'm loving it! While I was looking I was continually bummed that Doug hadn't reviewed it yet but I'm so happy to see this video!

(Limited HEV) But I have not seen anything close to that price since. Car Arrived about 2 weeks later, I got lucky. This was early June 2021.
I work on Hyundai and so far I haven’t seen any issues with them mainly. They have one recall with the owners manual. A sentence was mistyped on the section about what fuel to put in the vehicle lol
My mom got the Hyundai Santa Cruz and I'm blown away by the features and quality of it for the price. I didn't really think much of Hyundai or Kia years ago but things have clearly changed
@@missedmurphy aye thanks for the feedback. I’ll tell my parents this because I’m trying to convince them that Hyundai is such a good brand for the value of quality you’re getting. There’s really nothing bad about them!
Hyundai recently poached one of Audi's top designers and he isn't doing much to hide it, the new elantra is also a product of this new pairing. You see them all over so they're probably selling well

I actually love the design language of this new Tucson. Hyundai has so much technology packed into their new offerings with competitive pricing and the ability to actually get these cars financed into the hands of people with no so perfect credit. Hyundai has indeed come along way from the USA 1986 debut of the Hyundai Excel 😎
Totally true. When I was in high school 15 years ago we made fun of Hyundais. They were awful. Now I have bought a 2012 Tuscon, 2015 Santa Fe, and a 2022 Palisade. I have been blown away with the reliability, and value. Hyundais seem to always have more features than competition for the same price.
I'm so excited to see that automakers are finally realising that unique design sells- to me Hyundai gives me 1950s chrysler vibes. They're known for reliability, but not necessarily for style, so they restyled their entire lineup and became the coolest cars there are. Just 5 years ago, if you had to ask me what my least favorite looking cars are, it would be Hyundai. Now, they are my favorite looking cars on the market- especially the Sonata. I really like the boomerang/light bar taillights. I hope every other automaker starts making unique cars too
@@Saadlolwhy no, mostly because of their 100,000 mile warranty. That's the main reason most people I know buy them. Plus, where I live there are dozens of pre-2000 Hyundais still buzzing around so they must've done something right...
We got one two months ago. SEL Convenience gas. There is a "diffuse" button that allows airflow from across the entire dash, not just the small vents. I will admit that the performance isn't great, although that isn't the point of the car. Styling is definitely what sold me on it, in addition to a long list of features at the price point. It felt like it had the most backseat room amongst the rivals. Additionally, a week after, I loaded up a new couch for the living room and closed the hatch. Never been a Hyundai person, but this SUV has me now shopping for an Elantra N.
Hyundai and Kia are killing it recently. They’re not perfect, like everything else, but I seriously love some of these new cars. I wouldn’t have considered a Kia 10 years ago, or wanted a Hyundai, but now I’d seriously consider either over Toyota.
Came here to say the exact same thing lol. Their designer deserves a raise. Don’t think I’d ever get one (just cause I’m a snob and look down at Korean cars) but they are a treat to see on the road
Dont be fooled by 10 yr warranty. Its limited powertrain warranty. We own two hyundai and kia. Within 5 yrs our dashboard cracked and they refused to replace it. Also steering wheel cracking noise, water leak on taillight, stuck panoramic sunroof, Napa leather chipping off etc. It was not barebone its SX-L fully loaded. We are going to stick with Toyota/Lexus. No more Korean brand car for our family.
Great review Doug - keep up the good work - I am lucky to have one on order here in the uk - so maybe we have a different specifications but the PHEV Ultimate has rear heating compartment adjustment (3 zone) and the long vent detail in front of the passenger is actually a vent all the way across when the diffuser button is pressed - looking forward to getting it as it is quite unusual and different to the rest

The spec he reviewed here also has the diffuse function, which I'm surprised he didn't highlight since it makes the long vent functional. But, he misses or cuts things sometimes; it happens!
Went from owning a Hyundai i30N performance (Australia). Think Veloster N performance in the United States Elantra Hatch body. To now owning a top spec 2022 Tucson N Line with a 2L turbo Diesel (Australia again) and I love it.
Kia, Genesis, and Hyundai are really stepping up their game to the point where I would much rather buy any of those cars than a Nissan or Infiniti because they are far behind.
@@boxoffisa well they are now giving a 10 year unlimited power train warranty on most new vehicles, best warranty in the nation, should help keep values up for people who elect to buy a new car from them
Just bought one these. WOW. What an amazing vehicle. I sold my C6 Corvette for this. In the low end this thing pulls. 0-50mph is QUICK. 50-70 is fine. 70+ power is lacking. But I find needing power-right-now more important at low speeds. It's self driving on the highway, I'm getting like 33mpg-ish. You have to try , to get get good mpg. Flooring it everywhere you'll get 20mpg. I'm very impressed with this car. I got it with a 10yr 120k mi bumper to bumper. I won't pay any repair until 2033. These are yet to be prove Toyota reliable, but that warranty means I'll probably be out of this vehicle long before I ever pay for a repair. My Corvette was a money pit. The digital gauges and leather plus self driving hwy with the styling makes this SUV feel like a luxury vehicle for RAV4 pricing. 8.6" of ground clearance (can't wait for a lift kit) with AWD means it's offroad capable for those biking, kayak, etc trips. Can tow 2000Lbs so a small camper with a couple bikes - yet it's refined on the interior. This will be my daily, my off roader, and my haul some toys vehicle while still getting great mpg, looking beautiful, and being very impressive for a Hyundai. Plus the warranty sells you on the reliability. Also the app being able to heat/cool the car on demand plus reminders if you forgot to lock the car is fantastic.
The long space between air vents is actually a vent! You hit the diffuse button and it will send air through the full length of the dash. Also, the idea of moving the rear wiper was for aerodynamics as well as protecting it from freezing up in the snow!
Purchased my Tucson hybrid SEL about 6 months ago absolutely love it. No blind spot cameras with this trim level but does have a physical volume scroll wheel. One thing I’ve noticed is that it’s pretty tough to get the car to achieve 37 mpg + if it’s not stop and go city traffic. Other than that only complaint I have is how freakin loud the backup sound for the car is. Really sucks when you’re trying to leave shawtys house late at night and you wake up the whole planet backing up. I know there’s a sound box you can remove to get rid of the sound but that’s super illegal apparently so I guess I’ll just live with it for the time being. Cheers Doug great review as always
Love ours as well and you can actually unplug the backup speaker if you're so inclined. Pop off the plastic cover above the grille and you'll have access.
Yea all hyundai kia EVs and Hybrids do that. My kona ev does that its very annoying. I tinted my.windows so people dont see me embarrassed in my car in the parking lot as im backing up
Compact crossover. Wow! In Europe, Tuscon is considered a full size SUV. Compact crossers are the likes of Ford Puma, Peugeot 2008, Toyota CHR etc. And the are about a meter shorter...
This review missed one of the key differences between the RAV 4 -- which I previously owned, but traded for the 2022 Tucson Ultimate Plug-in Hybrid -- and that is, road noise! The Tucson is, in my opinion, far quieter and more refined-feeling at highway speeds, something that bothered me with the RAV, which not only had a noisy CVT, but also transmitted a lot of road and wind noise to the cabin on road trips. THAT SAID -- my brand new, shiny, cool-looking, smooth-driving, luxurious Tucson is now back at the dealership after less than one month of ownership, and they are unable to fix the check engine light. The light came on at under 1,000KM, they diagnosed that I needed a "new" wastegate, which was funny to me because the entire car was brand new, and after they replaced the wastegate the check engine light came back on the same day. They now have the car, and I am stuck with a base model loaner, while they work with Hyundai Canada's engineers to figure out what's wrong with the car. Suffice to say, I am gutted to have traded my RAV4 -- whose check engine light I never once saw illuminated -- for this shiny, cool car that I don't even have in my possession because Hyundai cannot figure out what's wrong with it. Buyer beware.
Didn’t expect a hybrid successor to have less torque. I own a diesel Tucson and it has more. Doesn’t sell well in my country though. They barely hit 3 digit mark in India and when I called the dealership they literally rushed to my place with a great rate. Couldn’t refuse the price and bought it and I’m loving it, between this and compass, people tend to lean towards compass but it’s seriously worth a look.
The Tucson is stuck in a weird segment, no one is looking there for practical cars. Only more perfomance oriented cars sell(Octavia, compass). The c5 aircross is overpriced but it probably wouldn't have sold well even if it was priced correctly.
I owned a 185hp 2.0 CRDI Tucson AWD auto, i previously owned a 1.6 DCI Qashqai manual. EVEN with 55 hp down on the Tucson, the Nissan was miles better to drive and the engine was better in every way, less noise, pulled better, economy was fantastic. Also build quality on the Tucson is crap, Kia Sportage's is better, but both are shit compared to a RAV4, CX5 or Qashqai.
13:20 Doug mentions the CX-5 as not a "wow what is that" reaction, is a testament to how well the CX-5 has sold. I recall it being pretty ground breaking, premium feeling, compact SUV when it came out 8 years ago. Still looks very refined for the category. But Kia/Hyundai have definitely been killing it with quality and value in the last 5 years, their portfolio is actually interesting. Also, going to review the Niro N?
I think the CX-5 is the direct rival for this new Tuscon. However, the CX-5 is starting to show it’s age and I believe the model will be dropped entirely within the next year or so and most likely will be fully replaced with the new CX-50, which is a very stunning vehicle that I think will be a much better rival to the Tuscon
My girlfriend has a 2022 Tuscon SEL awd (non-hybrid). She loves it. Build quality could be improved in some areas, but other than a couple squeaks here and there, it’s a great vehicle especially for the price.
Are they really though? Look at the telluride and palasade, both are supposed to look like opulent almost rolls Royce clones, however single exhaust, just makes it look like trash, not to mention how cheap they feel in the interior…. They have a long way to go, but they won’t get there as they are still too unreliable
@@logan_kes dude they’re not even super luxury cars to begin with. Kia and Hyundai are doing amazing. They give you so much car for the money. And sure the interior is not of the highest quality but it’s so cheap that it doesn’t matter. I didn’t buy my 21 Elantra expecting it to be all leather and aluminum. The car has stand out looks, drives well, and has a lot of features for the money. They really have stepped up their game and I’m all for it.
I own one. It’s a turbocharged 4 cyl with an electric motor. The thing is a beast when you put your foot down and easily eats CRV’s for lunch and Rav’s for dessert.
I love the reviews of the "normal" vehicles on the channel. This, the WRX, etc. I love a $100k Hummer as much as the next guy, but it is fun to see quirks and features on sub $40k regular guy car too!
Doug, you missed the "Diffuse" button on the A/C system which turns that big area that you said looked like a vent... into a vent across the entire dash. Also, try going to Sport mode when driving, it changes the steering feel, throttle response, and how the hybrid system applies its power.
Missed "Quirk" - 6:49 The "Long" vent is actually functional via all those little holes. The "Diffuse" button on the center console makes the ventilation come out gently everywhere, not just from the vents.

One EXTREMELY important aspect of the 2022 Tucson is the 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty. We just purchased the non-hybrid model about a month ago and my wife really likes it. She has always been the kind of person who says, "If it starts and gets me from here to there, that's all I need." Well, not with this car. For the first time in our 48 years of marriage she actually is taking an interest in this car and, surprise, surprise, she really likes the wheels which are the same as those reviewed.
For some reason Hyundai and Kia's have had this effect on my mother. In my 19 years of living my mom has never shown any interest in any car. But when the Kia Telluride/Hyundai Palisade came out she absolutely fell in love with it. I have no clue why.
The european version is even better. We have no mileage/km warranty. It is just time warranty. And the interior has more practical aspects regarding the seats folding/reclining and trunk
Ah man, the Hybrid is only $1,500 more than the gas version, comes with about 40 more horsepower than the gas version and you'll make up the price difference quickly with how much you save on gas. Frankly, I don't know why they even bother offering the only-gas version anymore.
I have one and it's very good, love the looks. Performance is OK, economy is good and there's plenty of tech and the odd gimmick (cabin ambient noises I can live without), kind wish id have waited for the plug in hybrid. My previous car was a cx5 which was actually more fun to drive and had a better ride, felt slightly more up market too. Overall though I'm a happy chappy.
@@Fifthcell I got the 238bhp self charging hybrid and performance wise it's OK, the way ot switches between engine, battery, both is actually very impressive. The CX5 does feel more luxurious/up-market even though objectively it's less well equipped and slightly smaller inside. Both are good choices for families I think and they both look great too.
Hyundais are so good I bought an Ioniq 5. Technically a compact electric CUV. What it really is a big RWD hatchback with retro futuristic styling. It also has an insane amount of space inside. It can fit a mountain bike without taking wheels off. It can also fit a door if you slide the front seat forward.
Hey doug! Nice review! Me and the wife own this exact model and spec! I noticed you said the front vent is small, when it is not! That entire bar is an air vent! The small section is just for personal use but for general use the entire bar releases air! Haha but love seeing a car you own being reviewed by doug himself!
I got used to the screen buttons in 2 days. Its an incredible car. Smooth, silent, good pickup as opposed to the Japanese brands. Less fuel efficient, but much better than vomparable luxury non hybrid suv like the rdx. And real mechanical AWD, instead of electric ones like toyota. And much much roomier than the Rav4, venza, crv. And you wont get 40mpg easily. But the Hyundayi Kia the automated drving assist is 10 times better than the japanese ones. Its 2nd only to Tesla.
BTW the infotainment system of this car is better than the PCM and other German systems because the chip is made from NVIDIA not like the good old days where its brewed from the manufacturer. Really what a time we are in..
bought my kid a 2016 sonata for college commuting, great car with great gas milage 35 plus. No issues replaced brakes and tires at 70,000 miles thats all over 92,000 now. they have one of the best warrenties in the bizz, this tucson looks awesome!
I bought a 2022 Tucson Limited it’s not the hybrid but I absolutely love everything about it. I got 3 kids the youngest one turning 12 this year and 2 dogs. Coming from the 2012 Regal I was driving I am beyond grateful.
I recently purchased a 2023 Tucson Hybrid on 12/3/22. I loved the car when I test drove it and watched hours of reviews from TH-cam. One thing that every single review failed to mention, is the issue Hyundai has with their panoramic sunroofs, as well as the small piece of glass inbetween the sunroof and the front windshield. There have been class action lawsuits filed against Hyundai because apparently these pieces of glass like to spontaneously burst. This happened to my 2023 Tucson after just ONE WEEK of driving. Walked out to my car ready to head to work, and noticed this giant crack in the glass, expanding from one end all the way to the other end. Car is back at the dealership right now, allegedly getting fixed at no cost to me. But some of the personal stories I've read online make me hesitant to believe that Hyundai is actually going to cover it. I'll come back with more details once I get an update. But just wanted other buyers to be aware of this common issue. I am not very pleased.
They are focusing too much on the outward looks probably at the expense of reliability. It looks to me like a bunch young computer geek kids designed it without much knowledge or interest in the mechanics. Give few years and see what it's all about. Already I'm seeing quite a few 21's and even 22's on use car lots.
@Lee Iacoca I used to live in Germany and had a B.M.Trouble-U... no thanks... never again. (BMW is considered the "Chevy" of Germany... and for good reason).
So glad I found this because we ordered ours in October and it's due to be delivered to the dealership by the end of this month lol. We forgot what it looked like, and this makes me excited to get it! We test drove the Hybridge Ultimate because it's what was available on the lot at the time, but as soon as we took it for a drive and saw the blind spot camera and felt how quiet it was, we were sold. Bonus it has the heated back seats and steering wheel, which would have been nice during our most recent winter temperatures of -48'C lol. Thanks for this review.
I’m telling you. When it comes to exterior styling, no mainstream car manufacturer can compete with the Hyundai/Kia car brand! They even give the premium german cars a run for their money!
Sometimes companies totally miss when they try to make an exciting demand. Hyundai and Kia have it figured out though, in my opinion. They've been releasing some of the nicest looking cars on the road as of late. Performance aside, they are stylish.
The vent on the passenger side does in fact flow air all the way across, can’t believe Doug missed that quirk. And this is the same platform as the Santa Cruz compact pickup (UTE / SAV / Baja). The interior is 95% the same on both vehicles, with a similar grille up front and other common styling elements. The SC doesn’t get the hybrid engine… but everyone assumes it will at some point to compete better with the base Maverick.
I have a 2023 Tuscon SEL AWD with the convenience package, strictly highway driving i get 30 mpg, pretty good for a spacious SUV, ride and handling are great. I didn't buy it to be a rocket ship 0-60 but it cruises effortlessly forever 70-75 on my way to my hideaway in WV and the Blue Link and smart cruise are so handy, after about 3 months i finally hooked up with Blue Link.
Hyundai knows what they’re doing, but I think they need to bolster the “N” name a little more hard to be considered a “cool” manufacturer by the public.
Albert Bierman(sp) announced he is retiring. Just as fast as the N like has emerged I bet it will disappear with him. The Veloster N and Elantra N are awesome cars I was looking forward to what was going to happen next but probably nothing will.
Quite interesting SUV. I always liked South Korean automobiles. I dont like their food, their music, but always admired how japanese they wanted to be in the car world. It took them a long time, but they have come to the terms with quality and they have gone even beyond in technology.
I’ve always been with the Japanese when it comes to vehicles, but I like where the South Koreans are going. My next car may end up being a Hyundai or Kia if they keep this up
Doug has got to be one of the only TH-cam car reviewers that NEVER opens up those big panoramic sunroofs. Noticed it first time on his Pacifica review. That van has an almost full length sunroof, but Doug never showed it. Looks like this Hyundai has a pretty big one too. It's a cool feature I think that can make cars seem more "open". You ought to show them off! Thanks for the vids!
The base Hybrid, the "Blue", is actually where you get an insane amount of value. Under 30k. Blows the competition out of the water. All the self driving tricks, better stereo stack, still AWD, even a little better gas mileage and it doesn't have those horrendous wheels. That's the model Doug shoulda reviewed. Preposterously good value car.
The Blue cuts too many features... smaller, cheap wheels, no sunroof, a few other cheapos... cheap is cheap... if you have to buy the cheapest trim in a line-up, you should go a car size down and buy a better trim from a smaller car. The sweet spot on the Tucson lineup is the SEL Convenience... almost all the features of the Limited, at about $5 cheaper. The SEL and Limited are the trims to buy, Blue and SE are just too cheap and give you cheap parts that look cheap... the tires on the Blue are just too small and look like someone is driving with 4 spare donut tires.
I hate knobs/buttons and love a clean look. The steering wheel has volume control, and climate control I leave on auto so this is all good for me. Planning to buy this car soon :)
Had mine for about 6 months now. Love love love it. I test drove ID4, Mustang Mach-e, RAV4 Prime, and a Lexus... The Tucson Hybrid was instant sell as soon as I sat in it. My least favorite was actually the RAV4 Prime. Just felt clunky and the dash screens just felt dated
Even today, 0-60 in anything under 8 seconds is still great. I'm just shocked by the price given you can get a Lexus UX for basically the same money and Lexus is a luxury brand.

Doug also got the numbers wrong... I think he quoted the Aspirated engine numbers... the Turbo Hybrid of the 2022 Tucson goes 0-60 in 6.7 to 6.8 seconds... seen multiple reviewers test it and they all got sub-7 second timings.
Hey Doug, I purchased this 2022 Tucson Hybrid last year October and I already received a recall letter from Hyundai Canada called "campaigned service 44" last year December and I also not too happy with the engine noise and the uneven wear out of rear brake rotor, this will be my first and the last Hyundai vehicles from this manufacturer.
I know Doug prefers reviewing the average everyday vehicle but it's truly a treat when he is able to review and drive the ultra-rare and expensive supercar. His formula for reviewing vehicles and giving each a Doug Score revolves around the everyday car. So when it is applied to the rare supercar, the turnout makes for a great video!

@@at9670
Yeah the CVTs definitely can take some of the fun out of it.
Yup my sonata hybrid feels normal besides sounding like a spaceship

I would love a 2+2 coupe with this design

I also think the Kadjar or Austral for example look much better than this.
Hyundai Santa fe is considered full-size. The Tucson is mid-size for Europe. But yeah, definitely not compact, at least to our standards
I am American and it looks way too big to be called compact
The c5 aircross is overpriced but it probably wouldn't have sold well even if it was priced correctly.
this is not a performance car, the hybrid is meant for better fuel economy which it definitely achieves compared to previous generations.
Well the torque figures would be just the peak number. You gotta look at the torque curve on how the torque is delivered.
The CX-5 hasn't really changed much in appearance in about a decade... I think that was Doug's point.
Kia and Hyundai are absolutely killing it with the looks. All the way from their SUV's, EV's and sedans.
Looks and tech
Doug in a bank robbery:
"THISS is a robbery"
"Put the money in the bag or you will see the 'quirks' and 'features' of the glock-17."
I own one. It’s a turbocharged 4 cyl with an electric motor. The thing is a beast when you put your foot down and easily eats CRV’s for lunch and Rav’s for dessert.
Seriously impressed with newer vehicles coming out of Hyundai/Kia/Genesis
too bad none of them will make it past 30k miles
@@john-om4nj generally, Hyundai and Kia do pretty well with reliability. Just about as close to the level of Toyota and Honda as you can get
@@yungboicontigo9278 wow someone's mad did I strike a nerve bud?
@@chezikmusic Not with their engines and transmissions. They've been having major recalls lately unfortunately.
@Lee Iacoca oh for sure!
It also has a regular transmission and not a CVT, unlike most hybrid SUVs. HUGE selling point for me.
Not to mention it still gets competitive fuel economy with that normal transmission
I love the reviews of the "normal" vehicles on the channel. This, the WRX, etc. I love a $100k Hummer as much as the next guy, but it is fun to see quirks and features on sub $40k regular guy car too!
As an owner of this car, feeling proud of the purchase!!
Doug, you missed the "Diffuse" button on the A/C system which turns that big area that you said looked like a vent... into a vent across the entire dash.
Also, try going to Sport mode when driving, it changes the steering feel, throttle response, and how the hybrid system applies its power.
That blind-spot camera feature should be mandatory everywhere.
Hyundai is really going for the looks lately. I particularly like the design of the Palisade, with the look of the daytime running headlights
Hyundai needs to dial it back. It looks FUUUUUUUUUGGGGLLLYYYYY
Missed "Quirk" - 6:49 The "Long" vent is actually functional via all those little holes. The "Diffuse" button on the center console makes the ventilation come out gently everywhere, not just from the vents.
Doug is the kind of guy who uses the Bullet in Supercar races in GTA Online.
Well, considering the Bullet is based on the Ford GT...

@@ultraguy8771 And its slow as balls
I’ve heard the standard 2.5 gas engines are pretty slow to accelerate. The CX5 is actually supposed to be more luxurious
Doug! That RS4 B7 has to be reviewed!!
Calm down man
@TDI for Life RS4!!!
Shut up kimchi
How bout the Id 4 or ev6
3:50 better looking grill than any Lexus or Toyota.
This is an awesome car, love it! Seeing lots of them around in Europe as well, glad to see Hyundai getting the recognition they deserve.
BTW the infotainment system of this car is better than the PCM and other German systems because the chip is made from NVIDIA not like the good old days where its brewed from the manufacturer. Really what a time we are in..
There's a PHEV Tucson as well, which may be even more interesting
bought my kid a 2016 sonata for college commuting, great car with great gas milage 35 plus. No issues replaced brakes and tires at 70,000 miles thats all over 92,000 now. they have one of the best warrenties in the bizz, this tucson looks awesome!
I love this direction for more unique styling. I just hope it doesn’t lead to overstyling.
Too late!!!!
I bought a 2022 Tucson Limited it’s not the hybrid but I absolutely love everything about it. I got 3 kids the youngest one turning 12 this year and 2 dogs. Coming from the 2012 Regal I was driving I am beyond grateful.
Yes!! I've been waiting for months for this video, and it makes even better since the Elantra N is coming!!!
😮 No waaaaay! My Dream Car 😭
@@nusuralove4407 don’t get me wrong. I absolutely love the car! I’m really hoping they get it fixed and I never have that issue again
They are focusing too much on the outward looks probably at the expense of reliability. It looks to me like a bunch young computer geek kids designed it without much knowledge or interest in the mechanics. Give few years and see what it's all about. Already I'm seeing quite a few 21's and even 22's on use car lots.
You get it fixed ?free
any updates?
I have to say, German here. Hyundai is the new "German" auto maker. I had an 2012 Elantra and 2014 Santa Fe. Good quality for the low price.
I think only the CRV is uglier than these new KDM junk. However at least the CRV is reliable….
37 minute ad, 1 of 2.
TH-cam expects to survive like this 😂
THIS, is an appreciation message. Here's to many more quirks and features!
The hidden rear wiper is a REALLY good touch, cleans up the look quite a bit
Hey, Doug, If you get the chance, I think it'd be cool if you could review the Hyundai Staria. Would love to see your Quirks and Features of it.

My next car may end up being a Hyundai or Kia if they keep this up
@@Fifthcell I agree with you. They don't stop to surprise us.
This car is such a hit un Europe, you just see them literally everywhere, good for Hyundai
I think that “over-styled” applies to more than just the wheels…
Doug has got to be one of the only TH-cam car reviewers that NEVER opens up those big panoramic sunroofs. Noticed it first time on his Pacifica review. That van has an almost full length sunroof, but Doug never showed it. Looks like this Hyundai has a pretty big one too. It's a cool feature I think that can make cars seem more "open". You ought to show them off! Thanks for the vids!
Half the trim models of the Tucson have it, the others do not... the SEL and Limited have the Panoramic roof.
Exactly I use steering wheel controls all the time, a volume knob is less practical
Doug is the kind of guy to make a video for a car after it's already sold out.
I work at a Hyundai dealership and the new Tucson is very popular. We've sold more of those things than any other 2022 model.
Just out of curiosity, you guys seling elantra n at MSRP?
Not sure. We haven't gotten those yet.
It doesn’t have a CVT like the other Hybrids and that’s a win for me.
Ecvt is not like the usual cvt
@@HaiLe-wy7dd I know it’s a better and more durable concept, but still makes that awful drone at full throttle.

@@yungboicontigo9278 nobody tell this guy about about the Mustang II...

Low end Lexus cars are just Toyota's way of duping people into paying more. The Avalon is always better than the ES for the year and UX is SMALL.
I’m pretty sure the Lexus UX is much smaller. I think the equivalent Lexus would be the NX
UX? Are you kidding me? That's like a Corolla hatchback with makeup and hills
Do you what the campaigned service is about?
I know Doug prefers reviewing the average everyday vehicle but it's truly a treat when he is able to review and drive the ultra-rare and expensive supercar. His formula for reviewing vehicles and giving each a Doug Score revolves around the everyday car. So when it is applied to the rare supercar, the turnout makes for a great video!
