I watched Jon & Kate plus 8 and I remember when they first split up. They way each of them were portrayed and the way TLC spun the story, a lot of the public thought Jon was the bad guy and dragged him though the mud. Even my Grandmother, who also watched it was blaming Jon. I remember my Mom telling me what my Grandmother had said regarding it and I immediately opposed what she was saying. I fully sided with Jon and told anyone who brought it up to "Just wait. It'll come out that it's her not him." I'm not saying Jon is perfect, he's not but Kate, she is something else.

I remember growing up with my mother watching their show and bonding with her over it, the sextuplets birthday is a day after mine which is why I like to keep in touch with them. You can tell very early on in the episodes of their show that Jon was miserable. Either with Kate, the situation at hand, or both, but he never blamed his kids for anything wrong in their marriage. Unfortunately, it became a HUGE issue because, look, what happened to their family? Is it because Kate was known to be the first "Karen"? She had twins and then sextuplets, which is A LOT OF STRESS and that's not even including their entire lives in the media. I see that Kate has always played the spotlight with herself before her kids, then her kids were second, and then Jon was in last and in that order because it felt like Jon and Kate were less of a team raising their kids, which showed in the show because on one or more occasion Kate humiliated Jon on camera It has always made me wonder: did she agree to make a TV show for her publicly or to financially help her family? I think it was her publicity and then money because if you notice now Jon tries to stay out of the spotlight, unlike Kate with everything, does anyone remember the show "Kate Plus Date" and "Celebrity Wife Swap" or is it just me? She probably would have NEVER been famous if not for her family circumstances (She was a nurse prior), which she broadcasted to the entire world, and they should have stopped the media after the two documentaries on the Discovery Channel (In my opinion). I know I would be happy to see some of the first moments filmed for memories and then later the show show, but that doesn't include all the bad moments too. I know I were one of their kids, then I would have been absolutely humiliated, and I already got bullied growing up; it would have added fuel to the fire. As for Kate and Jon's fights, the world didn't need to see them including their public divorce, and a lot of what happened should have remained private. If you remember, Kate was more upset about her show being cancelled than her family being torn apart by her actions, and life in the media is a circus. Well, at least it appeared to show on the outside in the show and past interviews. We all know Kate tore the family apart because of the publicity she desperately craved, which added additional stress to her innocent family. That's something that has always been obvious, unlike Jon, who felt too afraid and needed Kate's permission to speak. He seemed to be initially quite happy in the beginning with only Mady and Cara, and no more children were necessary to complete their family, but Kate had to take control again and manipulate the situation. Again, you can tell it had to be HER show (Later Kate+8 vs Jon and Kate+8) instead of a show with Jon and their 8 kids who were much too young to consent to everything they were put through, and I don’t blame the kids for having physical and mental issues now and reckless behaviour. I'm not saying what Collin (Or anyone in their family for that matter) apparently did was right, but we were not involved, so we can't say who exactly was right in this situation, but I know Kate has always been a bad influence on her kids. I don't think Jon was "so thrilled" to have another child, let alone sextuplets, but regardless, 20 years later, Jon has shown unconditional love for his 8 children and seems to be more of a hands on and supportive dad than Kate ever was, who instead seems to love the media attention and herself known as a "Karen", and her "Forever Babies," as she has called them. Blah. Blah. Blah. In the end, I don't think Collin was abusive. He may have had health issues since he was just a child, but we have no idea what is going on behind closed doors, and there is so much we don't know about. I know Jon isn't perfect and his eight kids aren't either, but unlike Kate, they can say they have continued to go through life knowing they haven't destroyed another person. Kate has always played the victim and destroyed nine lives, both for herself and for her "family." Now, their show is exactly like the other horrible TV family show, The Duggars (19 Kids and Counting and Counting On and Here comes Honey Boo Boo), and we all know what happened there to the three shows on TLC or even how Princess Diana was killed by the press too.
I've always wondered..and maybe this has been discussed or brought up before...I wonder if Collin was more intensely effected by the household dynamic when the show was on. That cannot be an easily childhood for any kid - in a household with 7 siblings and cameras were rolling, alot. Alot of their young childhood was the cameras rolling and things orchestrated or elaborated for the show storyline. Add the fact that Kate is a narcissist and in need for constant control. Maybe Collin protested this the most behind closed doors. I do wonder how different it would have been if the circumstances were different. I had a feeling while watching the old episodes of them as young children...if sweet Collin just had a hard time coping with his surroundings and a controlling mother with cameras always rolling. Maybe he had a hard time expressing that verbally, especially when Kate pushed for the show. I truly feel so much empathy for all of these kids, and especially Collin. She probably would have NEVER been famous if not for her family circumstances (She was a nurse prior), which she broadcasted to the entire world, and they should have stopped the media after the two documentaries on the Discovery Channel (In my opinion). I know I would be happy to see some of the first moments filmed for memories and then later the show show, but that doesn't include all the bad moments too.
I know I were one of their kids, then I would have been absolutely humiliated, and I already got bullied growing up; it would have added fuel to the fire. As for Kate and Jon's fights, the world didn't need to see them including their public divorce, and a lot of what happened should have remained private.
If you remember, Kate was more upset about her show being cancelled than her family being torn apart by her actions, and life in the media is a circus. Well, at least it appeared to show on the outside in the show and past interviews.
We all know Kate tore the family apart because of the publicity she desperately craved, which added additional stress to her innocent family. That's something that has always been obvious, unlike Jon, who felt too afraid and needed Kate's permission to speak.
He seemed to be initially quite happy in the beginning with only Mady and Cara, and no more children were necessary to complete their family, but Kate had to take control again and manipulate the situation.
Again, you can tell it had to be HER show (Later Kate+8 vs Jon and Kate+8) instead of a show with Jon and their 8 kids who were much too young to consent to everything they were put through, and I don’t blame the kids for having physical and mental issues now and reckless behaviour.
I'm not saying what Collin (Or anyone in their family for that matter) apparently did was right, but we were not involved, so we can't say who exactly was right in this situation, but I know Kate has always been a bad influence on her kids.
I don't think Jon was "so thrilled" to have another child, let alone sextuplets, but regardless, 20 years later, Jon has shown unconditional love for his 8 children and seems to be more of a hands on and supportive dad than Kate ever was, who instead seems to love the media attention and herself known as a "Karen", and her "Forever Babies," as she has called them. Blah. Blah. Blah.
In the end, I don't think Collin was abusive. He may have had health issues since he was just a child, but we have no idea what is going on behind closed doors, and there is so much we don't know about.
I know Jon isn't perfect and his eight kids aren't either, but unlike Kate, they can say they have continued to go through life knowing they haven't destroyed another person. Kate has always played the victim and destroyed nine lives, both for herself and for her "family."
Now, their show is exactly like the other horrible TV family show, The Duggars (19 Kids and Counting and Counting On and Here comes Honey Boo Boo), and we all know what happened there to the three shows on TLC or even how Princess Diana was killed by the press too.
I've always wondered..and maybe this has been discussed or brought up before...I wonder if Collin was more intensely effected by the household dynamic when the show was on. That cannot be an easily childhood for any kid - in a household with 7 siblings and cameras were rolling, alot. Alot of their young childhood was the cameras rolling and things orchestrated or elaborated for the show storyline. Add the fact that Kate is a narcissist and in need for constant control. Maybe Collin protested this the most behind closed doors.
I do wonder how different it would have been if the circumstances were different. I had a feeling while watching the old episodes of them as young children...if sweet Collin just had a hard time coping with his surroundings and a controlling mother with cameras always rolling. Maybe he had a hard time expressing that verbally, especially when Kate pushed for the show.
I truly feel so much empathy for all of these kids, and especially Collin. I can only imagine how difficult childhood was for them in certain ways. I hope he's in therapy (I hope all of them are, including Jon). Bless them all. Kate really did a number on these poor kids

But at the end of the day, they are ALL adults now, so it’s on the other siblings to make their own decision when it comes to their father.

That poor family. Kate couldn't keep it together in front of the camera, I can only imagine what happened behind the scenes. What's happened to Collin is so sad... I believe he was made into the scapegoat by Kate for starting to tell the truth about what was going on. Kate split up the kids... I really think Kate couldn't risk the truth getting out by Collin so she sent him away (so typical with a narcissistic parent)... siblings being raised in this type of atmosphere don't normally end up being close to one another in adulthood. Its because of Kate as to why all the siblings are not speaking to each other or their father. Kate made sure to destroy any relationship Jon had with the children. All the children are afraid of Kate which isn't love at all. I seen how she treated and talk to Jon with the children ther in Jon and Kate Plus 8 and is 100% wrong for her to do so. Also what she did to Collin was unthinkable all because she wanted the money from the show. It horrible that a parent could do such a thing to their own child by tieing them up, placing the child in basement and told not to interact with their siblings, and lie again telling other he had behavioral problems and place on a instatustion and not telling anyone where he was. In the contact with TLC its said something that everyone had to be on the show or the show eould be canceled and Kate would pay TLC a lot of money.
