The most interesting thing about Maddie’s comments about Collin are the fact that if you actually go back and watch the show, it’s Maddie that is usually abusing Collin and some of the other siblings throughout the entire course of the show
I’ve been watching old episodes of the show recently. Mady was mean to all of her siblings but I think Collin was treated the worst by her. I don’t get why Collin was the black sheep and still is.

To take no notice about what their mother did to their brother just sent him away out of site out of mind and not see something wrong with that?

He seems so sincere, and I feel sad for him. Also, I think the fact that Kate never visited Colin in that institution, speaks VOLUMES. How can you not want to go see your child to support them, when you apparently put them there to get them help? It's like she said "fix him for me please" and then took off.

Sadly many parents are convinced that those places are the only way to save your child from ending up in the system. He likely had behavior issues that did need treatment and sadly after the 1st few "treatments" don't work and the school is having issues and parents are stressed out these places swoop in to "help" and promise they will get your kid back on track and "fixed" all while actually only caring about the funding the children bring in. These places are known for mistreating children in the name of money and it is shocking how many parents fall into their traps. The more troubled the child is the more money they get. They also discourage visitation and tell you that visiting messes with your child's "progress" or disrupts the progress they have made or they will tell you after a visit that it caused a meltdown or your child had a terrible reaction and dissuade you from visiting as much. They limit and monitor phones letters etc. I am not saying Kate nor John nor Collin is the "issue" none of us know that because none of us lived their lives. We saw a few minutes of heavily edited footage from hours and hours of tape. It is gross how this is being made public. These kids need therapy not interviews.
People don't understand when you keep reaching out and get rejected by your own kids, its heart wrenching. You can only do it so many times/years before you have to give up out of self preservation.
Very true. They're young and brainwashed by Kate, but I have a feeling that one day they will see the truth, and reconnect with Collin and their father. Kate's lies will all crumble eventually; it always works that way. Hopefully Maddie will come around, she seems to have inherited her mother's traits.
💯. My daughter is 14 and ive only been allowed to be in her life for 2 of those years (when I was with my ex wife). All the other years, I'm wasn't allowed to see her. Her mom tells her, I didn't want her and want nothing to do with her. It's truly heartbreaking.
The part that I find upsetting in all of this is that when Kate had trouble raising Colin the first person she should have contacted to ask if Colin can live with him is HIS FATHER.......Colin was sent off to some sort of group home/boarding school where he was surrounded by strangers......Kate had NO RIGHT to do that.

Exactly!! Most people would think to do that first. Have a child go live with the other parent if the parents don’t live together and things are not working out in one parents household. But what does this crazy b***h do instead?? Basically makes up a diagnosis for her son and sends him away to a place where she should go herself honestly, not Collin! After what happened to Collin, I lost all respect I ever had for her!
What I have read is TLC had a lot to do with what transpired, they had an image they wanted to keep for the show, they paid for the lawyers and I believe they helped with having Colin admitted, I will never understand how a mother can single out & do what she did to her child for money, absolutely disgusting..
Women like Kate who give birth do it for APPREANCE sake. She does what LOOKS good,not what's best. She ALWAYS PICKED on Colin, I felt she was a complete terror once those cameras were off. A raging bitch. She definitely had her favorite kids, and she bullied poor Jon until he was a BROKEN SHELL of a man/dad/person. He looked exhausted of her.

What Mady did was so appalling. She is turning out exactly like her mom. Her mom did a good job to turn her into her. Thank God in spite of all the horrific things his mother did he is okay. If you look at the history of the mom, she did this to her own family her sisters and brothers. She is so delustional and has a narrative of unbelievable lies and justifications for her actions. If anyone has mental illness it is her, that is not actions of a normal , healthy person.

I’m not surprised that Kate is still an angry, bitter, vengeful and jealous woman, who will do whatever it takes to continue to make Jon pay for him being caught by the paparazzi, of him cheating on her with another woman in a car. Jon said that Kate cheated on him too with a crew member from their show “Jon and Kate make 8”. I’m not surprised that Kate commits more sins than Jon did. I’m not surprised that Kate gets away with murder for her sins and evil doings to Jon and kids who want to be with their dad, not her, because she knows how to do CYA (cover your ass!).
I completely agree Jon has made mistakes but Kate has been far worse in all of this IMO I think it started with their show. Kate has been rude, obnoxious, controlling, and treated Jon, the kids, and others around her like crap. The way she spoke to him during every one of their episodes made me sick 🤢🤮it’s no wonder they got divorced and I’m surprised their marriage lasted as long as it did.

Jon’s not perfect, but I believe that Kate has been instrumental in alienating him from the kids. I’ve seen this happen with a neighbour. My neighbour alienated her kids from their dad. He was not a great guy, he left the family and tried to get shared custody. During the custody battle, the kids would do anything and everything to frustrate their visit with Dad. My neighbour indirectly caused their behaviour, by the things she shared with her kids…that he abandoned them, that he wiped out the bank accounts. He was not a good guy. He was exposed by their mom. The kids are grown now and they continue no contact. He has tried to reach out. He has tried to make amends. He paid for their college tuition. He paid child support. They want nothing to do with him.
Right Jon isn't perfect, but who is? As long as a parent isn't abusive (and clearly he's not done he rescued the actually abused and abandoned child, and the kindest of the sextuplets Hannah chooses to live with him...) a parent has the right to do their imperfect best for their kids.

I agree w you on all of it. Except I thought that Jon didn’t pay for anything after he left. Because he couldn’t. Child support for that many kids, and no job was impossible. I thought that was part of their divorce? That she was going to take the kids and their home, and he could walk away w no clue support, and also no visitation. Maybe I’m wrong. That’s just what I remember from back then? I thought he didn’t pay for any schooling and or Child Support. And that’s what gave Kate so much leverage over him. She could say…..you don’t pay, so you don’t get a say. On anything. She even moved out of the state w all their children, for away from the dad. Only because he wasn’t paying child support, she felt she could do whatever she “needed” to do.
What had happened to this family is just heartbreaking, like they said. I cannot even begin to imagine how frustrating everything must feel for Jon by not being able to have a relationship with most of his children. I always remember Maddy having the behavioral issues on the show, and Kate always reprimanding her. I feel like she’s become who she is because she wants that attention and approval from her mom that she always wanted as a kid and that’s what caused all her lash outs.

The difference between Jon & Kate is intention. Jon made mistakes, he made some bad choices, and he’s taken accountability for them. He’s imperfect but sincere. Kate is all about control & manipulation.

There is no such thing as conversation with a narcissistic and manipulative abuser. Unless you’re obvious on their team or showing them that you think and feel exactly as they want you to, there’s absolutely no way you can honestly communicate with such a person. It gets to a point to stop trying because you’ve truly exhausted all efforts with not even one little victory. Continuing to try continues to reintroduce the trauma triggers and it’s absolutely pointless to keep going that way. Sadly, the kids will have to put two and two together and form their own decisions based on whatever information they are exposed to. If they haven’t seen or spoken to or heard from their dad that long, you can only imagine what they are being shown and told to lead to that.
Exactly! I didn't end well with my daughter's father but I purposed in my heart not to isolate her from him. She would see the truth one day. At 25, she definitely has now but the damage isn't as bad. She still talks to him but just has to adjust to his particular ways. Kate obviously poured venom into those kids against him.....which she should have never done.
The kids have. She had many very young children. She had to have every minute accounted for. She, with everything that there was to do, still did vacations, parties, etc. She didn't need her husband walking around in a state of confusion like another child to take care of. I encouraged my son and his father to have that father and son relationship, after I thought it was safe to. My son figured things out on his own. Loves his father but he doesn’t agree with how his father handles things and never accepts accountability for things he says and does. It’s hurtful to see the pain he goes through at times and his siblings from his fathers side, but he formed his opinions on his own based on the behaviors and words of his father.
This! Who sends their 10y/o away to a mental health facility twice? Kate said he had “special needs” like he was a disabled child who needed more medical care than she could provide. She actually wanted to get rid of him. How is it that Jon gets custody and he’s fine. No kid is perfect, but if there is any mental illness, she made she she gave it to him.

My mom treated my brother like Collin. Told him he had demons and stuff. Kicked him out at 16. I was younger and my mom convinced me he was the problem and I believed her until I was 22. Then i saw my mom's true colors. It's especially hard for the golden child to figure out their parent was actually horrible. It shakes up your whole reality, so people will deny it their entire life to protect their psyche. I want mady to wake up the way i did, but i know it will be years of pain. But at the end is freedom. Collin seems so emotionally mature and compassionate. That's what happens to the unloved and unwanted like us

Mady was a brat from day one. She always seemed to be acting out. The other kids went through the same experiences but none of them acted as bratty as her. Collin is better off not having her in his life, which seems to be on a great trajectory. Blood doesn’t mean you owe anyone anything. Mady just needs to go away, go back to her Mommy who is as mean as she is, they make a great pair.

I have researched this issue and here is what I think happened. Collin might be an independent person or a strong willed person. Maddy and Kate are also strong willed people. Their personalities clashed with Collin. Kate should have allowed Collin to live with Jon instead of hospitalizing him. Jon seems to be calmer than Kate and handled Collin better than her. The military would not accept Collin if he truly had many psychological disorders as Kate claims.
No, Jon, YOU are their Father. YOU need to keep trying to reach out to them, no matter what. You need to show them that love them and will never stop and never go away. It's your responsibility as the parent to keep fighting, even if they are adults now. They've been influenced by others. Your job is to show them that they can always come back to you no matter what.
Yesss! I said the same thing! My father was a absentee father as well. He left when I was 3 yrs old. He did reach out a couple of times through other people. It was such a lame attempt that I never forgave him. If he had tried harder and gave more effort I definitely would of opened up my heart. But sadly this never happened and he has since passed away

A parent is always the parent. You reach out to your children and let them know your heart is open to them. That doesn’t mean you harass them but you make frequent overtures. Stop talking about their mother and simply let them know you love them and are available.
I didn't follow this show, but my heart goes out to Collin. My husband and I had five kids, and I raised them as a SAHM, even homeschooling for ten years. Collin reminds me of my eldest, who was more headstrong and unruly than his siblings. My son is extremely bright but is extra sensitive to stimuli, and he needed both a firm hand and a chance to find his own way, both of which I gave him. He is a stable, caring, and responsible adult now. While I can't know if Collin said or did anything unforgiveable as an adult, it seems he was scapegoated at a young age, and I hope it's possible for him to at least mend ties with his siblings. And Hannah rocks. I wish her all the best.
Wait, this not the same Mady talking about “physical violence” and “hate speech” when in the show you can SEE her physically and verbally abusing all her brothers and sisters especially Collin. And sure she was eight years old at the time but come on, as an eight-year-old you know how to behave and she was literally being a bully to your younger siblings not even Cara behaved this way towards her little brothers and sisters. The kids are adults now and can choose to see him. I think the first step is just saying i love you all and i want to see you. Kate did alienate him as a parent. I blame the parent who allows their children to be ostracized from one another for their own selfish self centeredness. Kate is allowing this. What Kate does not understand is these kids will realize her part in it will come back to bite her in the butt.
If these parents ever want a legit, close relationship with their kids in the future… they need to stop using this whole situation to make money. They need to deal with their family issues privately. Going public about family private issues without communication in private first is a recipe for continuous distrust. This is not the way to deal with family problems… the media is the last place you need to be running to in order to reunite.
Remember, Kate’s the one that gave Jon the platform and the spotlight. Jon’s going to have to suffer through this and the only way he can monetize himself and his family is through giving interviews. Yes, in the same boat with one out of my 4 children. You keep reaching out with nothing in return. I’m leaving it up to God. I’m not in control only God is. I pray for my kids everyday and that’s the most powerful thing we can do. I haven’t had communication with my son in 2 years and going home for Christmas. Whether or not he will show up on Christmas day I have no idea. I just keep praying. Ive always wondered about the husband during their fallout divorce n stuff. He just stopped trying to put on a face and pretemd everything is great... He looked tired and defeated. Whereas the mom was energetic and happy to move on continuing the show like nothing happened but also quick to talk negatively about him. He never did speak out about her from what i remember. Its been years tho and havent kept with the show just something i noticed on tv as a teenager. Now i know whats actually been happening and i believe the son and father over the mom and any of her alienated children she raised.

I am a parents myself. I don’t know if this is true or not. Let assume yes, So if he tried to get in touch with his kids and the kids refuse and he is a bad dad? It is possible Kate manipulated her kids so they think their dad is a bad one.
He could’ve been consistent to show them, that it wasn’t true if that’s what she did. Him giving up looks like she had reason for thinking he was no good.

I’ve been reading it and I’m shocked. But I’m sure it’s true. Kate is a typical narcissist and if you don’t accept her agenda she doesn’t need you in her life and doesn’t want you in her kids lives either. Why do you think her whole family doesn’t talk to her? Because they were concerned about what filming was doing to the kids and she didn’t want to stop because then she would have to go out and get a “real” job and Kate didn’t want to work. Knowing that filming wasn’t in the best interest of the kids and her continuing to do it is not being a good mom at all. The kids are grown now and are going to college so there’s no reason why she can’t get a real job off tv.

Sadly many parents are convinced that those places are the only way to save your child from ending up in the system. He likely had behavior issues that did need treatment and sadly after the 1st few "treatments" don't work and the school is having issues and parents are stressed out these places swoop in to "help" and promise they will get your kid back on track and "fixed" all while actually only caring about the funding the children bring in. These places are known for mistreating children in the name of money and it is shocking how many parents fall into their traps. The more troubled the child is the more money they get. They also discourage visitation and tell you that visiting messes with your child's "progress" or disrupts the progress they have made or they will tell you after a visit that it caused a meltdown or your child had a terrible reaction and dissuade you from visiting as much. They limit and monitor phones letters etc.
I am not saying Kate nor John nor Collin is the "issue" none of us know that because none of us lived their lives. We saw a few minutes of heavily edited footage from hours and hours of tape. It is gross how this is being made public. These kids need therapy not interviews.
People don't understand when you keep reaching out and get rejected by your own kids, its heart wrenching. You can only do it so many times/years before you have to give up out of self preservation.

💯. My daughter is 14 and ive only been allowed to be in her life for 2 of those years (when I was with my ex wife). All the other years, I'm wasn't allowed to see her. Her mom tells her, I didn't want her and want nothing to do with her. It's truly heartbreaking.
The part that I find upsetting in all of this is that when Kate had trouble raising Colin the first person she should have contacted to ask if Colin can live with him is HIS FATHER.......Colin was sent off to some sort of group home/boarding school where he was surrounded by strangers......Kate had NO RIGHT to do that.

What Mady did was so appalling. She is turning out exactly like her mom. Her mom did a good job to turn her into her. Thank God in spite of all the horrific things his mother did he is okay. If you look at the history of the mom, she did this to her own family her sisters and brothers. She is so delustional and has a narrative of unbelievable lies and justifications for her actions. If anyone has mental illness it is her, that is not actions of a normal , healthy person.

Jon’s not perfect, but I believe that Kate has been instrumental in alienating him from the kids. I’ve seen this happen with a neighbour. My neighbour alienated her kids from their dad. He was not a great guy, he left the family and tried to get shared custody. During the custody battle, the kids would do anything and everything to frustrate their visit with Dad. My neighbour indirectly caused their behaviour, by the things she shared with her kids…that he abandoned them, that he wiped out the bank accounts. He was not a good guy. He was exposed by their mom. The kids are grown now and they continue no contact. He has tried to reach out. He has tried to make amends. He paid for their college tuition. He paid child support. They want nothing to do with him.
Right Jon isn't perfect, but who is? As long as a parent isn't abusive (and clearly he's not done he rescued the actually abused and abandoned child, and the kindest of the sextuplets Hannah chooses to live with him...) a parent has the right to do their imperfect best for their kids.

Unless you’re obvious on their team or showing them that you think and feel exactly as they want you to, there’s absolutely no way you can honestly communicate with such a person. Continuing to try continues to reintroduce the trauma triggers and it’s absolutely pointless to keep going that way. Sadly, the kids will have to put two and two together and form their own decisions based on whatever information they are exposed to. If they haven’t seen or spoken to or heard from their dad that long, you can only imagine what they are being shown and told to lead to that.
Exactly! I didn't end well with my daughter's father but I purposed in my heart not to isolate her from him. She would see the truth one day. At 25, she definitely has now but the damage isn't as bad. She still talks to him but just has to adjust to his particular ways. She, with everything that there was to do, still did vacations, parties, etc. She didn't need her husband walking around in a state of confusion like another child to take care of. I encouraged my son and his father to have that father and son relationship, after I thought it was safe to. My son figured things out on his own. Loves his father but he doesn’t agree with how his father handles things and never accepts accountability for things he says and does. It’s hurtful to see the pain he goes through at times and his siblings from his fathers side, but he formed his opinions on his own based on the behaviors and words of his father.

I know the feeling of having your adult child ignore you and shut you out. It is more painful than anything I've experienced, and I don't deserve it. At some point all you can do is have faith that they'll come around in their own time.
My mom treated my brother like Collin. Told him he had demons and stuff. Kicked him out at 16. I was younger and my mom convinced me he was the problem and I believed her until I was 22. Then i saw my mom's true colors. It's especially hard for the golden child to figure out their parent was actually horrible. It shakes up your whole reality, so people will deny it their entire life to protect their psyche. I want mady to wake up the way i did, but i know it will be years of pain. But at the end is freedom.

Mady was a brat from day one. She always seemed to be acting out. The other kids went through the same experiences but none of them acted as bratty as her. Collin is better off not having her in his life, which seems to be on a great trajectory. Blood doesn’t mean you owe anyone anything. Mady just needs to go away, go back to her Mommy who is as mean as she is, they make a great pair.

I have researched this issue and here is what I think happened.
Collin might be an independent person or a strong willed person. Maddy and Kate are also strong willed people. Their personalities clashed with Collin. Kate should have allowed Collin to live with Jon instead of hospitalizing him. Jon seems to be calmer than Kate and handled Collin better than her. The military would not accept Collin if he truly had many psychological disorders as Kate claims.

No, Jon, YOU are their Father. YOU need to keep trying to reach out to them, no matter what. You need to show them that love them and will never stop and never go away. It's your responsibility as the parent to keep fighting, even if they are adults now. They've been influenced by others. Your job is to show them that they can always come back to you no matter what.
Yesss! I said the same thing! My father was a absentee father as well. He left when I was 3 yrs old. He did reach out a couple of times through other people. It was such a lame attempt that I never forgave him. If he had tried harder and gave more effort I definitely would of opened up my heart. But sadly this never happened and he has since passed away

I didn't follow this show, but my heart goes out to Collin. My husband and I had five kids, and I raised them as a SAHM, even homeschooling for ten years. Collin reminds me of my eldest, who was more headstrong and unruly than his siblings. My son is extremely bright but is extra sensitive to stimuli, and he needed both a firm hand and a chance to find his own way, both of which I gave him. He is a stable, caring, and responsible adult now. While I can't know if Collin said or did anything unforgiveable as an adult, it seems he was scapegoated at a young age, and I hope it's possible for him to at least mend ties with his siblings. And Hannah rocks. I wish her all the best.

She wanted to continue to film and he said no. He said thats enough and he doesnt want his children exposed anymore. Thats what started the alienation and i think thats sad. Its nice to see jon have a voice and backbone. He didnt have that during the show. I hope his kids can get together one day and then heal with him.

If these parents ever want a legit, close relationship with their kids in the future… they need to stop using this whole situation to make money. They need to deal with their family issues privately. Going public about family private issues without communication in private first is a recipe for continuous distrust. This is not the way to deal with family problems… the media is the last place you need to be running to in order to reunite.
Remember, Kate’s the one that gave Jon the platform and the spotlight. Jon’s going to have to suffer through this and the only way he can monetize himself and his family is through giving interviews. I am a parents myself. I don’t know if this is true or not. Let assume yes, So if he tried to get in touch with his kids and the kids refuse and he is a bad dad? It is possible Kate manipulated her kids so they think their dad is a bad one.
He could’ve been consistent to show them, that it wasn’t true if that’s what she did. Him giving up looks like she had reason for thinking he was no good.

I’ve been reading it and I’m shocked. But I’m sure it’s true. Kate is a typical narcissist and if you don’t accept her agenda she doesn’t need you in her life and doesn’t want you in her kids lives either. Why do you think her whole family doesn’t talk to her? Because they were concerned about what filming was doing to the kids and she didn’t want to stop because then she would have to go out and get a “real” job and Kate didn’t want to work. Knowing that filming wasn’t in the best interest of the kids and her continuing to do it is not being a good mom at all. The kids are grown now and are going to college so there’s no reason why she can’t get a real job off tv.
