- CORRECTIONS:
-At 8:06, I phrased it incorrectly. Patients are never turned away from St. Jude because of their inability to pay, however, you have to qualify as a patient first.
-At 14:37, I misspoke. Hannah will have her own room because, as Kate explains, she "has headaches because she has migraines. She is woken up too early in the morning because the other kids wake her up. She tends to sleep in."
Most of us have heard of the show, but did we watch it? Jon & Kate Plus 8 follows a family of 10 and their lives. Join me in watching the second half of the fourth season!

the short clip of them all sitting, peacefully eating without kate lmaooo
I'm absolutely BAFFLED at Kate deciding to get two PUPPIES. Not even dogs, but PUPPIES and then complain that she doesn't want to potty train them... ma'am you should have adopted a fully grown dog who has already been trained if you didn't want to deal with teaching a puppy how to dog. I also can't believe Kate didn't do research into the dog breed. If she didn't want a fur mess, she should have looked into a hypo-allergenic breed that sheds less. Not to mention that German Shepherds are VERY high energy dogs who can easily become destructive or even dangerous when not exercised and played with enough. She stresses me out so much lol
And she got litter mates 🙄 She did 0 research, absolutely pathetic. (The dogs were given back to the breeder after John & Kate split - and the fact they even went to a breeder makes this even worse.)
@@nikkydalby7126 why shouldn’t you get litter mates? /gen
@nikkydalby7126 Agree on the littermates point (since littermate syndrome is a risk), but getting a dog from a responsible breeder isn’t a bad thing - since the breeder took the dogs back, that’s actually a good sign they’re responsible instead of a backyard breeder/puppymill. (It’s often a clause included in contracts of good breeders that the owner will return the dog to them if they don’t want it anymore instead of going to a shelter - because the breeder cares about their dogs and will find a new home for them)
@@oprincesslivie02 they sometimes hate each other an exceptional amount and can't or barely get along. Kind of like human siblings 🙃
Of course, the breeder should have also warned them about adopting littermates…
When people are overstimulated and/or dysregulated, they’re unable to think with their prefrontal cortex, which is the part of the brain that allows us to make conscious decisions. This is especially true for kids. Growing up in a chaotic stressful environment, only getting attention (which kids NEED) when acting out, and probably knowing (either consciously or subconsciously) that she was the least favorite twin for both her parents and her siblings, makes Maddie’s behavior make so much sense bc she was probably unable to regularly access her prefrontal cortex frequently!
This doesn’t even factor in the influence that her parents behavior has and any potential mental health/developmental issues.
Plus her behavior and developmental wouldn’t classify as notably behind for a 10-year-old.
-A licensed therapist for children
She was 7-8 here and her behavior is not behind for someone her age
This! Maybe it’s just the fact that I’m autistic, but I acted like this until age 13 when I was overstimulated, especially when my younger siblings were a lot to handle. This just seems like normal kid behavior, and if it’s not, it’s certainly normal neurodivergent kid behavior (no speculation on Maddie, herself; just a comment about myself)

Jon laughing when she says, "No, I'm more like Cara," truly explains Kate's illusions.
Delusions? Haha
Kate saying she isn’t the yeller and blame it all on Jon is wild.
Gosh, it’s almost like little girls (and older siblings in general) shouldn’t have the pressure put on them to be the ‘mommy’ at all 🙃
@@tkay7950 yuhp coming from a little sibling it makes us looooaaathe the older one bc they go power hungry. then they grow up talking about “I raised you”. like you were 9 you didn’t raise shit lmfaoo!!
@@floriduhgeorgiaI was parentified, and if I hadn't taken care of the babies, they'd never have been fed or changed. Luckily, our dads got us out of that and part of it was that I talked about how much parenting I did. So yeah some of us did actually have to raise our younger siblings at a great cost to ourselves 😞
@@floriduhgeorgia Yeah but in the story I'm writing(fictional, of course), the oldest girl has to be "mommy" and "daddy" to her younger siblings, whom are quadruplets and sextuplets because both of their parents died. She was "parentified" but it was for a good reason.
@@decgal81 you physically cared for them you didn’t emotionally raise them be fr this is what we are talking about with yall!
@@Supersoccerchic and this would apply to her too! But it’s fiction so you can write the younger siblings to not resent her I guess
As someone in the dog industry, the decisions they made with getting the puppies is wild! For starters its not recommended to get puppies from the same litter or get two puppies of the same age at the same time, because of something called littermate syndrome. Basically it often ends up with aggression issues between the dogs as well as other dogs and even people.
Also i would have recommended that they get adult dogs and not puppies, 1-2 years old, so they still get a long time with the dogs but get to skip the chaotic and frustrating puppy phase. It'd also allow them to get a dog with a developed personality that they can be sure can handle the stress and chaos of the family. It'd also allow them to get a dog with little interest in eating toys and other things.
I'd probably have recommended a golden retriever as well since they are one of the hardest breeds to fuck up (ie give behavioral issues due to lack of training or ineffective training) and are well know for being great with kids. German Shepherds are great dogs but they really do need an owner who is consistent and vigilant with training and socialization, things i think Jon and Kate would be too busy with the kids to really focus on, and with so many people in the house its hard to remain consistent with training, which ultimately confuses dogs and makes training infinitely more difficult. Also shepherds are big and strong and while growing into their bodies can struggle to understand their own strength and could really injure a kid accidentally.
Some retired breeding dogs would have been a good choice, as these dogs spend the beginning of their lives around people who know what they are doing and a dog with strong maternal skills would be really good around all the kids. The children have an abundance of love to give, and a dog who maybe lacked this individual attention during their breeding years would benefit from that abundance, while also still being able to better handle the more overwhelming aspects of the families life. 2 puppies was simply not a good choice for them.
Every single person on the planet gets puppies and not adult dogs. It happens all the time. The reason why people do it is because of views if they're on reality TV. They don't do it because they want to. Kate and Jon shouldn't have gotten two dogs but they also shouldn't have been stupid enough to not neuter their only dog that they had because they got two of the puppies from that person's owner of the mother dog and that's super irresponsible too. Also, who cares about littermate syndrome? That's rare and never happens. If it does, that's just bad luck. I personally would get littermates from a litter and I doubt they'd get "littermate syndrome". If they do, they can obviously go back to the breeder but I highly doubt that would happen.
Girl do these forever I love them so much

Joel is me when I'm out in the woods/nature. I relate buddy 😂
Maddy is just like Kate.
Mady’s outbursts definitely strike me as a result of anxiety. When I was an anxious oldest daughter my panic attacks frequently manifested like that and it only got worse the longer I went without any help for my mental health. It definitely feels familiar to watch some of these clips, I feel so bad for her.
Yes! It reminds me of myself as a kid, also an anxious oldest daughter. Anxiety and at the time undiagnosed ADHD were not a fun combo, I struggled a lot with emotional regulation, especially when I was overstimulated and overwhelmed and but didn't know how to articulate those feelings. And I grew up in an average sized family with not nearly as much chaos, I would've been a mess in Mady's shoes. Plus Kate doesn't exactly seem like the type of parent to take mental health seriously (despite needing help herself, tbh), I mean just look at how she treated Collin.
@@caitlynr7295 yes I only have two younger siblings but also have ADHD! I can’t imagine what a mess I would have been with 7 siblings and Kate for a parent
Mady was diagnosed with ADHD by the time she got to middle school and Kate didn't help her.
yeah her behavior reminds me of my sister's that went well into her teens
but a change of scenery away from the chaos and proper support healed a lot of this! i hope the same can happen to mady
In my experience, Moms do all the planning, tidying, packing and managing everyone while dads do the playing with the kids
I’m sorry that’s your experience. Both parents should have playtime with their children
That sucks… it really shouldn’t and doesn’t need to be that way.
i am obsessed with this series thank u for making these so i don't have to watch this show again
this show was my hyper-fixation when i was a kid!! so glad i found your channel
I'm a minute and 52 seconds in and I'm already feeling so sorry for Jon.
I lost my dad when I was 11 and consequently have found myself attaching sentimental value to items that others would see as mundane, so I totally get it and am really upset with how Kate patronised him.
It's always so hard to give away/get rid of items from people who passed. My mom passed suddenly when I was 16 and I still have items of hers 8 years later. Clothes, books, jewellery, etc. I don't even use/need them really but giving them away or thinking about doing so is very hard. The way Kate reacted genuinely made me upset for Jon. Especially since it seems that Jon is more of a sentimental/emotional person when it comes to family.
Not only did they get two puppies, they got litter mates. Genius.
If it makes you feel better (or maybe worse), it looks like they ultimately returned the dogs to the breeder, after they broke up
Should never let them buy two littermate puppies. Such bad greedy breeders
@@tkay7950 I think all things considered, that makes me feel better lol
@@dyl180 100%
@tkay7950 yeah they kept returning the dogs. Multiple times they would be back and then returned. We never saw Nala again mostly Ashoka.
I mean, Jill Duggar talks in her book about how grocery shopping was way easier when the show filmed, because it was paid for by the netowkr, I think. So that might have helped with the house payments.
Think TLC did a lot to pay for the costs of building the Duggars' house too. Jim Bob Duggar kept going on about building it only with family and friends, as a way to save money and be financially responsible, but TLC started filming one of the pre-show specials, and wanted the house to actually get done (the building process had been very slow with just friends and family on deck) so TLC made them bring in professionals and paid for the labor costs, so they would actually have a finished house to film for the special, whilst still being able to release the special in a timely manner.
I watched this series from the start when i was a kid, i loved tlc so much beforehand and these guys took up lots of my tv time. Thank you for covering it all with a 2nd look and grown perspective, it has helped me immensely with seeing what i was blind to as a child-teen viewer and how these kids were truly affected. 💖 much love for this series/revisit!
Tbh being mummy all day can be overwhelming for me as a 30 year old lady. I’m not surprised maddie devolved into a bit of a tantrum, it’s totally normal, she was stressed and overwhelmed and being filmed. None of it was appropriate and her behaviour makes total sense. At that age children still need their parents to help them regulate their emotions to a degree. I think the way she asked to stop and then did what she needed to self regulate shows much more maturity than a lot of adults
Kate parentified the oldest two and Maddie’s behavior is because of that. I think you worded it fine, she wasn’t acting her age. idk why people are acting like you’re saying it’s her fault/ a character judgement
they wanna be woke or just find a reason to pick at someone lol
And people say Mady is the only one who hits her siblings, when in reality all 8 of them behave aggressively towards each other. I've seen the twins go at it at one another and the sextuplets going at it at each other and their older siblings. The twins, even Cara sometimes shout at the younger siblings or lash out at them. All 8 of them behave this angry is because they look up to their parents who constantly bicker and shout at each other and at them.
@@k8tiek8 the person saying that was beyond respectful. when Dani replied, both were amiable. you just want to whine.
@@queereden that person was rude asf and backtracked immediately lmfaooo but sure!
When she announced TWO puppies?? 😮😮😮 And then to get a dog that absolutely sheds? I just didn't see it ending well
Those poor dogs
Omg I just started watching you a couple days ago and I’m so excited to see this new upload! This is the season that intrigued me the most as a kid (I’m 27 now lol)
St. Jude does turn kids away 😅 my friend got rejected from them when she had stage 3 cancer... she's all good now though!
Yeah they only take kids that have the illnesses that they are currently doing research/clinical trials for iirc. I think she meant doesn’t turn kids away for financial reasons
Here's my lovely PSA: if you want a dog that is already trained, potty trained, spayed/neutered and vaccinated, adopt a dog from a prison. They take dogs from kill shelters and pair them with an inmate who fosters them and gets them ready to be adopted. We got our dog when she was still a puppy from one and she was only $150. Don't be like Kate and go to a breeder then complain you have to actually, ya know train these dogs
Why would I get a dog from a prison? I'm not going to a prison just to get a dog for cheap. That's so risky, not to mention ridiculous. If you want a dog so badly, get a puppy to train yourself or get an adult dog that's already trained but there's no reason to adopt a dog from a prison. No one would go dog shopping in a prison.
@@Supersoccerchic Often you don't end up at the prison to get the dog, it's a partnership some shelters (I think usually county shelters) have with local prisons, from my understanding of it. Its just a foster program that allows prisoners to have rehabilitation with animals, probably only given to prisoners on good behavior. Its meant to be a beneficial program for both the prisoners and the dogs rescued. My husband grew up with a lab mix that was part of one of these programs and they're normally quite well adjusted and can be quite sweet, like other fostered dogs. Outside of where they were fostered, they shouldn't be any different from other dogs. It may not be for everyone, but it's not like this is some illicit operation or anything in most cases. It's not really dog shopping, just another avenue for dog adoption.
Maddy's outbursts remind me of when I was a kid. I was one of those "weird" kids who were "over dramatic" and a "crybaby". Being born in the bible belt, girls are already perceived to be dramatic (mostly due to the misogyny that festers in this region) even when they don't act out like this, and behaving this way will cause people to treat them poorly. I was socially ostracized for being this way but at the same time, people understood why I was like this since I am autistic. To be fair, I wasn't as "bratty" as Maddy as I will admit she can be rude at times. The part I relate to Maddy is the part where she is overwhelmed with her surroundings, does not pick up on certain cues that other children her age can pick up on, and cries while not caring how "ridiculous" she appears doing so (we need to let kids cry, even when they are over the age of four). I am NOT saying Maddy is autistic as I do not want to paint a false narrative based on a heavily edited show, but I am saying I am one of those people who can relate to real people and fictional characters who are written off as spoiled brats who are only there so people can hate watch them.
I can also understand why Kate named the dogs prior to the kids meeting them, because letting 8 kids try to agree on names sounds like a bad idea lol
It's not that men can't have style it's that *Jon* can't have *anything*
Alexis after Hannah hit her: Why though?
And that’s a great question for many things that life throws (hits 😉) our way
Gonna start saying “why her did that?” To everything
Saying Maddie “doesn’t act her age” or is being “inappropriate” just because she has understandable behavioral issues and could be neurodivergent and easily overwhelmed… As someone who’s worked with kids a long time, Maddy absolutely acts her age. She just needs extra support and attention. Please don’t frame that in an infantilizing way, it’s very harmful to these children and to the adults they grow up to be. Hopefully you consider this comment, thank you!
Plus watching Kate yell about everything
@@KatJonesCrochet yeah those kids are traumatized lol we definitely can’t expect their behavior to be perfect in any way
it was strange for her to say that. i could see a lot of my child self in maddy, growing up in a tumultuous environment without the support i truly needed. i will always sympathize with maddy even if i don’t 100% support her actions as an adult lol
@@champagnecoasts Dani absolutely makes it clear she’s on Maddy’s side, empathizes with her as well as defends her and her behavior, so I don’t think there was ill intent. I just believe she didn’t realize the wording she used could be harmful. Dani is typically speaking up for the kids in these videos and mentions this environment would be difficult for any kid.
I think you’re interpreting it the wrong way she is not acting age-appropriate that’s just the truth it’s a neutral statement and obviously a product of the household I really don’t think she’s giving Madi a hard time
As someone who has worked in the dog industry, this had me facepalming. Two puppies at once can lead to littermate syndrome. German shepherds also require lots of exercise and mental stimulation. Also umm you got puppies... They are not going to automatically know to potty outside. Also, she chose a breed that is known for super high shedding...

So that is actually false about Saint Jude. Especially when we’re talking about cancer research. Saint Jude is a specific research hospital and they will only treat kids with certain kinds of cancer. I know this because my best friend’s son spent six years in cancer treatment and his type of cancer was accepted at Saint Jude. He died at 13.
Hospitals also generally do not want you to wrap gifts even for Christmas because they want the parent to be able to pick what the gift is or the child to know. Disabled kids who have a lot of unexpected things happen are more likely to struggle with the unknown.
my kid has multiple disabilities and we have been at the hospital around Christmas time a lot of years and at different hospitals we’ve always experienced the same thing with unwrapped gifts.
I was so surprised when I learned this. The wording in the commercials was “no family will ever be turned away because they can’t pay.” That’s true if you get accepted for a particular illness they have studies for. They turn away lots of kids if they don’t have a disease that they have trials for. I think we all took the commercials to mean- no child is ever turned away. Unfortunately, not true. 😢
Well, that’s understandable. It’s not like all types of cancer are treated the same and it’s impossible to specialize in every single type of childhood cancer, so perhaps she meant that they don’t turn down any child with cancer that they are ABLE to treat. Obviously if they don’t have the knowledge to treat that cancer, it’s not in the child’s best interest to be accepted into their program.
@@MsMere78please read the comment I posted above before responding to you. There’s actually a good, non selfish reason for this. It’s not just some lie. It’s really just small print because saying “no child with the types of cancer we have the knowledge to treat will ever be left behind” 😅
Besides Kate being relentlessly mean, she's also *so* superficial. She talks about "making memories" and "the meaning of life" but when her child says "I love you" she says "oh honey". Her whole life is a photo op, her whole life is about logistics and image and I really think it would be this way if she weren't on a tv show: that's her whole personality. She's so seldom warm or kind...
Kate is a horrible person, sorry . She treats Jon horrible.
I do think she has some icky tendencies however she was taking on the full responsibilities of the household and all 8 children while Jon worked. And that being said he’s clearly much more laid back in general. They weren’t a good match and probably wouldn’t have made it even without kids.
@@Bea56601 “icky tendencies” is an understatement. She abused Jon and those children. She sent Colin to a psych ward and used him as the family scapegoat. Ik things get stressful, but don’t abuse others, especially your husband and small children because you have issues with yourself you can’t handle.
Not to defend Kate (and not to say I have NEVER played with kids when watching them) but I started babysitting at 12 and did so for nearly ten years. I have experience watching 1-10+ kids at a time, and it’s exhausting just to babysit them and sometimes sitting and watching is the best I could do with the energy I have. Imagine watching 8 kids while feeding them and doing all their routines on time every single day. I don’t blame her for sitting and watching. You do see sometimes the kids coming up and playing with her/cuddling, so. I don’t think it’s completely fair to shame her for never playing with them from the bits we see.
i just finished binge watching all your videos for this series last night. so happy to have the next part so soon! ❤
Okay why TF would the sick kids want John and Kate book 😂 like come onnnnnnnnnn
Honestly the rule about staying out of mom and dad's room seems like one of their most reasonable. They were probably trying to have more alone time as a couple.
No. They were already separated and they just didn’t want the kids to see that they weren’t sharing the bed. If I remember correctly, I believe they weren’t even sharing the same room. He was either in a guest room or a little guest house on the property. Can’t remember which.
@@HereForTheComments990 Yeah but the rule was way too harsh too. He was in a guest house, I think.
It's not actually and it was way too harsh. If you don't want your kids seeing that you and your husband are separated, how about you tell them that Mommy and Daddy aren't married anymore, get divorced or separated and then, you can come into the bedroom? If the parents aren't sleeping together, there's no need to be saying that the kids will be severely punished by entering that bedroom. Kate breaks that rule when the kids are older anyway and doesn't punish her kids about it either so, she's a liar.
I hope their other kids grow up and watch the series then see how toxic their mom was to their dad. Jon was a great dad to their kids.
I wasn’t allowed in my parents room when I was a kid. Unless I was invited in which was especially rare. I’m glad they got that bigger house. Kids need space to roam! Our house is small and our kids are always fighting.
a lot of people have told me that their parents didn’t let the kids in their bedroom which was always weird to me. i shared a room with my parents multiple times lol
I wasn't allowed either and I always knocked and tried to get in my parents' bedroom when they locked the door. When I have kids, it'll be free range because I don't want them thinking that I don't want them around. Sure, I need privacy but I love having my kids around me too.
@@k8tiek8 Me too, especially on vacations but I personally will hate it when I go on vacation in September because I won't have a bed. I'll have to sleep on a couch and it'll hurt my back.
honestly its either or to me. even parents have boundaries. i was allowed to be in my mom's room but we never had enough space. i've shared a room with someone my entire life
@@Viteaification Not me and I thank God for that. I'd never want my own kids to share rooms either. Every kid needs to have their own space.
Kate was condescending when Jon was admitting that things are sentimental to him.
Dani, the reason why no sane person lets their kids name their pets is because if the kids are super young, the names would probably be "Butt" or "Heinie" in Kate's words or "Bug" or something dumb because they're kids. It's like with Cara and Mady naming the dogs too. I bet if they ended up naming the dogs, the little kids wouldn't like those names and that would cause fights too. No child should name the dog. The parents and kids can agree on the names but ultimately, it's up to the parents to decide on the names for the pets since they'll do most of the work for them and the paperwork and everything. I've never met in my life even a teenager that takes on the pet ownership at all.
My friends named their new puppy before the kids met her too. They posed it as a suggestion, but that was her name. Otherwise she’d be Pikachu or Butts. No joke, those were the suggestions lol

Growing up in Utah, as a Mormon at the time, I was baffled people were obsessed with this family that had 8 kids - cuz I knew many families with 8+ kids 😅 But this show absolutely had a chokehold on everyone when it was first aired.
I mean, I think it was less that they had 8 kids - because you're right, there's tons of families that have 8 kids, you don't get a show till you reach double digits at least lol - and more to do with the fact that she had sextuplets. Most of my extended family is Mormon and quite a few have 6+ kids, but I would still be shocked if any of them had sextuplets. 6 newborns at one time, 6 infants at one time, 6 kids getting potty trained at one time, 6 terrible twos at one time, etc. There's definitely novelty in that. People are impressed with twins or triplets, it's understandable that SIX at once is gonna generate interest from some people, even people with big families. This wasn't exactly the same as like, the Duggars. I'm pretty sure that if a member of your old ward had sextuplets, it would've caught the attention of even the other large families in your community.
Now, I don't understand how the show stayed on air so long when Kate was insufferable and most of the show was her and jon arguing instead of anything really interesting about raising sextuplets. Like it genuinely just seems miserable to watch. But the initial interest absolutely makes sense to me if only as a brief curiosity.
Prob bc they weren’t weirdly religious, they already have those shows and not all can relate
Colin is so cute when he was talking at the table. Can’t believe this monster Kate abused him.
I’ve always knocked on the door if my parents door was closed… they could’ve been in state in which they didn’t want to be seen. It’s the basic respect you should give to anybody
Yeah but for me, that would never be the case. What if one of the kids had a nightmare and needed to be consoled? You're saying that you'd just let them wait forever and then be invited inside? I would hate to be your child then.
@Supersoccerchic they might have meant the parents could have been in the middle of sex or something like that. terrible time for a terrified kid to barge in lol
Same I think it teaches them to respect others boundaries obviously if they’re sick or scared you’d hear them crying and it would be an exception and understandable if they just walked in
@@Viteaification Oh, I know but you can't plan for that. If your kid has a nightmare, you're going to make them wait a million years before you let them in to see what's going on? Yeah, that's not happening and if it does, you'd suck as a parent. You need to be able to console your child and be happy that they want to go to you for comfort.
7 bathrooms?! Who would even want that….to clean that 😂….even if I got rich or had a huge family I would never want a house THAT big.
Kate LOVES being a martyr, so the more work she can complain she has, the better. And better if she can hire a cleaning lady to berate, and then clean up after.
I'd love that personally. Every single person except for one can have their own bathroom and it's awesome for a big family.
I don't know why I have a soft spot for Jon. I didn't follow their story closely past the show, but I feel like his crap parenting decisions are due to circumstances and lack of proper support (and fame getting in the way), while Kate's personality and poor decisions area just hers, but now it's been amplified. idk.
I’ve been waiting for this ep!!!

The tale of desperaux books are fire
The puppy sitution makes a lot of sense for them- an uneducated and selfish couple refuses to think about the decision of introducing too many new responsibilities into their lives in order to repair an obviously unstable marriage then complains when it turns out they are ill prepared for that decision.
Two dogs- two puppies- two GERMAN SHEPHERD puppies.

i think their door knocking rule is way too strict, my parents never let us sleep in their room or bed but always came back with us to bed and we could get them whenever. it seems a weird precedent to set when they are genuinely still so young
Love when you upload!
I also had to knock on my parents' bedroom door and wait for them to tell me to come in. Is this not normal? 🤔
I was shocked learning my friends hand free range of their parents bedrooms. Not that we weren’t allowed at all, but same we knocked/waited and it was off limits when they were gone.
i always have had free range in my parents room. i never went into my friends parents rooms bc my mom told me it wasn’t respectful but when they had to knock to go in it was definitely a culture shock for me. it’s just different norms for different families!

6 bedrooms in the house... 1) twins 2)kate/Jon 3)boys 4)alexis 5)hannah/lea... Is 6 for a baby sitter? Or maybe 6 is above the garage, where there is living space. As for not entering parents room... I agree, EXCEPT when sick/ nightmare. There HAS to be a place where they can go and "debrief" without stimulation or being conscious of surprise sensory stimulation. A place to pull in energy that is always going out. Also, they need to feel confident walking out of the shower butt naked or being intimate without worrying about a child bursting in asking if they can (go outside, have candy, someone hit them, etc.) Yes, they decided to be parents, but also, a few minutes of peace per day is also deserved.
I've just found your channel and I am here for all of it!
I have SO many mixed emotions watching this back with you
She is not involved with the kids’ playtime. My favorite moment of my childhood was when my mom got down on the floor and colored with me. Kate was the CEO and treated Jon like an employee rather than a husband.
There was a short lived TLC show called Table for 12 where the parents had two sets of twins and then sextuplets one of which had cerebral palsy and the mom on that show was incredible, both of the parents were and didn't fight or argue like jon and kate. You should definitely watch and react to it, I haven't seen it in years!
Yeah but they were also weird in that the kids blindly listened to their parents and just went upstairs to their rooms without a fight. I found that really weird and I don't know how they laid down the law in their house. I mean, what? They made it seem like their kids were blindly obedient and I don't know how they did it. I'm sure Betty probably spanked her kids or they had time-outs or something, not just telling the kids to stop sternly. They also didn't want to tell the network for fear of getting too much bad media attention.
I used to really like that. It’s weird it seems like it ended rather suddenly. If I remember in the last episode they got a puppy and then there was no more. I couldn’t find as to why. Plus no one seems to even remember that show or Evers talks about. Though they haven’t had any negative publicity so I guess that’s good.
@@blakekaveny I googled the show just to see if I could find it anywhere to watch and there was an article talking about how Rebecca (the sextuplet with cerebral palsey) had passed away. It wouldnt let me read the full article without paying but if true thats incredibly heartbreaking.. 😞
@@carlygardner9561 It is true. They have other articles that Rebecca died five days before her 19th birthday. I saw pictures of her and she looked so different from when she was 5. She had brown hair and looked very different but still nice-looking. I even saw the funeral and obituary posting from the funeral home and tribute they did and I was amazed. I cannot believe she wasn't even 20 yet. Also, I'm personally shocked that the other sextuplets didn't say they were "adult-sitting" their sister because she was literally a baby. The only one who posted that was Meghan, one of the twins and that was weird to me. I mean, if Tara or Rachel watched her, it would be the same thing. Also, I'm amazed that she didn't pull or get annoyed with earrings on her ears and they got their ears pierced as babies probably and that wasn't even said. I personally would do that if I had kids too but I'm just shocked that they don't say anything. Mady on Jon and Kate Plus 8 got her ears pierced at 7, which was talked about but no one talks about if babies get their ears pierced? Why?
14:57 It came out at some point that the reason Kate wouldn’t let the kids in their bedroom is because they were already separated at the time, and just didn’t want the kids to see that they were no longer sharing a bed.
Interesting. I always thought that was strange. Because when I was growing up no room was off limits for anyone. Yes if it’s someone else room you should ask first but it’s not off limits. Even my parents room. Heck most of the time my parents had the door open.
@@blakekaveny I would be the same way honestly. The only way I wouldn't is if the kids wanted privacy and there's no law that says that girls can't go into boys' rooms and vice-versa. My chiropractor had his son share a room with his sisters up until he was a teenager. Also, my door wouldn't be locked and there wouldn't be "severe punishment" if my kids entered my room if they weren't allowed in. I'd also lock it sometimes but that would be extremely rare. I don't believe in locking any bedroom, even for privacy.
Goodness . The photo of her pregnant laying on the couch, she looks so incredibly young. I’m 37 and have been very happily married almost 10 years this Christmas. We don’t really care about having kids despite having the stability and means. Honestly I don’t feel mature enough. Yet they were younger than me with 8 kiddos. Her twins alone she looked incredibly young. I don’t know how they did it. Just watching these clips tire me 😹
She was 29 when she was pregnant with the sextuplets on the couch.
WAKE UP WAKE UP DANI HAS POSTED
Makes sense that the kids would have to knock on parents door. I mean it shields them from walking in on adult activities, also changing, etc.
I’ve watch your whole series. AND I watched Jon and Kate plus 8 as a kid as well, and I hate to say. My Step mother is EXACTLY like Kate to the T. It’s scary. I have to go to therapy constantly for how she manipulated me and my dad’s relationship into him hating me. We used to have so much fun together but now my dad actually hates me lol
I just wonder what Kate was like when pregnant
Probably insufferable
Joel is me when I have to do outdoor activities lmaooo
This made me miss when my almost four year old German shepherd was a puppy
Can't wait for the next installment!
I actually bought episodes 19-22 on the iTunes Store before they took them down.
Clicked immediately let’s go
When you mention not having access to certain episodes is it cuz they’re pull from the network? Aren’t they available to purchase?
Hbo is missing many episodes. I'm not sure if they are available to purchase like here on youtube
I assumed she means some episodes are not available through streaming. I wish she’d buy or rent the dvds though. All episodes and all in the original order
Kate probably wanted braces on the twins early because she was pushing for them to get agents and go into acting.
Yeah but it is recommended for kids to get braces young to fix their teeth anyway. It's the same if you're not getting x-rays of your kids' teeth early. If you're just getting x-rays of your kids' teeth at 5, it means that you're not making sure your kids' teeth are growing properly or taking care of them well, it's the same with not taking your baby to the dentist when they get their first teeth.
To be fair to Alexis, it’s so hard at that age to accept that what you’re shopping for is a gift and not for you to keep.
There is nothing wrong with having your kids knock before coming into your parent’s room! I ask my kids to knock as well… it’s never been an issue.
It went beyond having them knock. Kate said they weren’t allowed in there at all that’s completely strange.
Yeah and they would be severely punished if they entered, even knocking. I mean, seriously? I wouldn't make that a rule in my house ever. You can knock but you'd still be allowed in the bedroom after I opened the door. It wouldn't be completely off-limits and "severe punishment" wouldn't follow either.
I can’t even bear to watch the puppies again. 😢 That family was not in a condition to raise two puppies! And they didn’t even adopt from a shelter. That whole situation was so sad. Those poor puppies. Just another instability in the kids’ lives. No other family (after Kate pushed away the extremely patient and loving Aunt Jodi over the network DARING to consider compensating her for her time and the intrusion of filming in her home), rotating door of nannies, and only a tv crew there to intrude on their lives to become “close” with.
Please do this same style of videos for Kate plus 8!!!
As a kid I never really understood how mean Kate was/is but now being older I just realized it’s because my grandma was just like her all the comments and things she said I could literally see my grandma doing or saying
Thanks you for doing this.
18:26 why does Alexis flinch like that? Looks a bit like she’s reacting cuz she’s been hit before
To be fair his leg was close to her so she flinched it’s normal to get startled by a broken stick and his knee going forward
@@emilyruekas5541 yea but before he snaps it she looks frightened
Why is Alexis in a room alone but the boys are tripled up
That’s a good question! I’m guessing the sizes of the rooms were odd, but having one of the youngest kids alone was weird…
If I remember correctly, Alexis would wake up early and wake the rest of the girls up, so they moved her into her own room, so the other little girls could get sleep.
Alexis isn't alone in a room, Hannah is. Alexis and Leah shared a room and so did the boys.
I mispoke as it's actually Hannah who will be alone. Episode 30 at 6: 10, Kate says Hannah will have her own room because she "has headaches because she has migraines. She is woken up too early in the morning because the other kids wake her up. She tends to sleep in."
New Dani!
I was HOOKED on this show as a kid. I have the entire DVD set from J&K +8.
If you’re able to find them, I think it’d be cool to get your take on the two original Discovery specials as well!
Off topic but you look sooo cute in a hat! ❤❤❤❤ I always look so weird with them lol
I'm convinced Kate just hates the male species 😂
Dani, maybe you should check out the my four wives show, its got uh okay I think we're on s17 now but it's got polgyamy, weird family dynamics, Mormanism etc and tons of content to get thru if that's your thing
I watched Sister Wives early on and Cody was so insufferable I had to stop. MAYBE I’ll return to it lol
@@danixxgreencody really is the worse its infuriating
I loooooove this series! I’m a newer subscriber & I’m happy I found you! I fell in love with these videos and went on a binge and watched a bunch of ur other videos as well (plathville) 🩷
I absolutely hate how they had their old house decorated/ furnished. They could have done a way better job utilizing their space. Kate is always complaining about how little room they had, but it seems like they could have done more to make use of the space. They had that spare office/bedroom in the main floor. Instead of putting a couple kids in there they used it as a play room? They already had the whole basement. Or why not use the basement as one big room for the kids? Did that bother anyone else? Lol
Not to defend their choices but having the only play space for little kids in the basement doesn't work well when you need to cook & supervise them.
It did to me and now, the house is completely different and there finally isn't an island so, the kitchen looks huge now. It's awesome to see.
The basement could be a danger depending on its design. A fire would likely kill them.
@@nicolemensch4343 They did use the basement as a play room? I’m confused.
@@delhaney11 The person meant that they could have used the basement as another bedroom.
Nice CUBS hat 👍⚾️
Not shocking at all that a Halloweeny episode is followed by a Christmasy episode. Typical way cable was done in that era.
Braces at age 8????? I don't think I've ever seen that. I had braces in high school, and my roommate got them in her 30s.
To be fair to Joel and the "still going through it" bit, it looks like his sister hits him with her giant stick. That would make me more upset, too.
Also to be fair about pre=naming dogs, when you've got eight little voices all wanting their name picked, it could be a mess and make kids mad that their name didn't get picked? It took me and my sister a while to agree on a name for our puppy, and we were two kids.
@@lawreb91 Not me and not for the Hayes family whom had 10 kids. They named their one dog "Buddy" and then changed the name to Casey" fairly easily.
Also, braces are common starting at age 8 because it's how they want the kids' teeth to be straight. I mean, I'd start young for any kids I have if they don't have braces. Also, I'd hate for my teenagers to go through braces like I did and I got braces when I was 16 and it sucked. I also got a palette expander for ten months too and had to wear mold retainers for 5 years and I haven't kept that up and now, my teeth are the same as they were when I first got braces but I'm not getting braces again unless I get amazing dental insurance and an amazing husband to help me adjust the expander.
Misandry is the dislike or hatred of men and I really feel like that's the word that describes kate towards her husband and sons
Kate was so sexist, even against her own children.
I want to adopt and I want a boy cuz I’m better with males
I’m a tomboy to an extent and I have trouble making friends but a better chance with male
These people just scream, no actual plan
It’s a very common thing for kids not to be allowed in the parents room!
why did they distribute the rooms in the new house so oddly, why not let cara and Maddy each have their own rooms and have the triplet boys and triplet girls share, I just think its so weird that Alexis is the only one not sharing, especially considering they were so young
