    Fun fact for the hardcore collectors, "Purified Shadow Pokemon" and "Pokemon in your team when completing the Mount Battle 100 Gauntlet" each get a Unique Ribbon not found anywhere else in the series. Now if you were to transfer a Pokemon with these Ribbons from Colosseum (or XD:GoD) all the way through the series up to Sword/Shield or Scarlet/Violet you gain the option to equip these Ribbons so that whenever the Pokemon (for this example Metagross) is sent into battle the appearing message will state "Go Metagross The Triumphant!" if the Purify Ribbon is equipped and "Go Metagross The 100x Victorious!" if the Mount Battle Ribbon is equipped! Highly exclusive and cool ways to show off a little about your Pokemon Legacy.

      @@Bramblestar9339 there is technically a cheaper method, with a Homebrewed Gamecube or Wii you can pull the game's Rom and Save File onto an SD Card, then use something like PKhex to port the Pokemon into the later games (easiest would be the 3DS Gen 7 games then transfer them from Pokemon Bank to Pokemon Home, or if you have a Homebrewed Switch cut the Gen 7 middle man).

      Dude this is so cool I've literally just started out on a journey to fill the Pokedex on every Pokemon game from the bottom up, by system from gen 3 with fr and lg then ruby/sapph. Trading my Pokemon up thru every series as I go. I'm currently playing fr and Colosseum got the GBA to GC cable on its way in the mail.
      I will get these ribbons on as many Pokemon as I bring over 😁

    I'll never forget back when this came out I was in 4th grade (30 now), my buddy pulled it out of his backpack to show me since I was going to his house for the weekend. We beat the whole story in one weekend. One of my all time favorite Pokemon games. Fun fact, most of the team that made this game had no prior knowledge of Pokemon and actually consisted of a dev team sniped from Sony at the time. One of the best sound tracks, the whole game wasn't appreciated enough in my opinion. We need a Wes follow up ASAP.

    I just beat colosseum for the first time a few months ago and as someone who started with gen 3, this felt like a time capsule that I instantly fell in love with. It was definitely one of the hardest games which was such a breath of fresh air. Beating it was so much fun and gratifying bc I lost like 10 different times to the final boss before I finally won(thanks to a little rng help). Also beating Mt.Battle and getting my first gen 3 Ho-Oh was so rewarding to be able to trade it into my emerald version. This game up there with Emerald, HGSS, BW and PLA.
    Also I think Colosseum is more fun than XD which I also just finished playing.

  • @Kevin51611
    @Kevin51611 2 ปีที่แล้ว +33

    Pokemon Colosseum is the best Pokemon game I've ever played. The animations make the Pokemon feel alive. The dark and mature tone is exactly what we need in modern Pokemon games. They say that Pokemon is a kids game. But the people who primary play Pokemon games were once kids, and are now in there late 20's and late 30's. Pokemon needs to stop marketing itself as a kids game because its core audience has evolved.

    • @mikausa__
      @mikausa__ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      IKRRRR, Idk the reason for the company to make the future games so childish and make the graphics look like it's still on the beta version ffs. The kids would still love to play pokemon even if the target audience was for 13+ people. It would be far better if the future pkmn games would be a bit serious when it comes to story, maturity and I wish they would actually improve the fps and graphics, if BOTW and Mario Odyssey was good then why can't they make pokemon like that. Pokemon now became like a goody two shoes on a daily basis of rainbows and sunshine I hate it

    • @shoobydoo
      @shoobydoo ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not really. Yeah its nostalgia based audience is older now but pokemon is literally the biggest franchise in the world. Without actually knowing, I'd guess that kids are the vast majority core marketable consumers now. Myself as well as a lot of content creators and others as an adult who understands gaming/gaming development and don't eat spoon fed repetitive contrived animes as I did as a kid, I now have the choice to not give gamefreak and the pokemon company my money. Which is a choice I made years ago since they can't be bothered to put out anything even half respectable now. I play my GBA/GBC/DS games for nostalgic purposes via emulation because I don't support bad practices.
      Marketing pokemon more mature for adults is cutting out a HUGE part of their multi billion dollar market; which will never happen because the pokemon franchise only exists still to make money. Not please anyone. That's why literally 95% of their games are copy paste, the switch games are released broken and mediocre and they've marketed a 10 year old as the protag in the anime for nearly 30 years.
      Its 2023. Time to stop locking a large portion pokemon to trade evolutions and the same fucking game with a different color name so you have to spend $120+ to get all the regions pokemon plus the cost of whatever device you're using.

    • @rpgfanatic9719
      @rpgfanatic9719 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@annedrieck7316 The puzzles were never that great, all Alola did was take another approach to them. Alola's gyms change the formula a ton while still making them familiar. 1st off they're dungeon biomes to return to and catch unique Pokemon in, and sometimes collect previously unobtainable items, the reward for beating these "gyms" are badges that actually have a proper battle function, multiple functions in fact. You also ignore the fact that rides completely remove annoying HMs and allow you to customize and build your team exactly the way you want it without changing anything to abide by the environmental progression throughout your adventure. Alola was the best change that EVER happened to this series in terms of changing the formula of overworld progression.

    If anyone who loved this game as a kid wants to play it again then I can't recommend the mod for this enough.
    It's called Pokemon Grand Colosseum and adds phsyical special split, fairy type, increased difficulty and a bunch of other stuff like infinite TM's.

    I played Pokémon Colosseum when it released on the GameCube. I think it was regarded by many as an incredibly disappointing follow up to Pokémon Stadium (and its sequel), and this meant that many didn't give the single-player side of the game the attention it deserved. This is a massive shame as it's by far one of the most original Pokémon games to date.

    Man, I remember when I played Coliseum at an old friend's house in elementary and was like, "BRUH, I gotta go to GameStop and get this." Man was that a great trip to the store when it happened. Gale of Darkness I just remember getting because I think my grandma got it for me after, I forget a bit. But point is, yh it's prolly my favorite dualogy of games in Pokemon. Though unlike Matty, I lasted till Gen 4, don't know if I stopped playing for any bad reasons though but wouldn't catching up here and there with what I've missed and those new ones are looking interesting ngl

    IDK I preferred Colosseum for its darker protag and story along with it being more difficult. Gale is still good but it lost that edge along with being easier overall due to difficulty and added ease of use mechanics.

    Yes, yes it is! With older games, you measured the hype it had when it came out, the success it had when it came out, and how it held up against its peers at the time. Not nitpick 5, 10, 20 plus years after its release.....

      And a lot of that had to do with a lack of social media. There's a whole industry now built around revealing games years before they're ready to come out just to get a media cycle going. You hear about a game as if it's around the corner and 3-5 years later it either still hasn't come out or it's still in beta stage on Steam or something.

    I like Colosseum more than Gale of Darkness because the protagonist of XD felt more like your typical Pokemon protagonist. I like how edgy Wes is and I like having a companion travel with you. I think more Pokemon games should let your character have their own backstory and have a travel companion. I think it changes up the formula quite a bit.

    Pokemon coliseum was one of my absolute FAVORITE video games from my childhood!!! It was a breath of fresh air, as I was starting to get bored of the whole collect 8 badges, fight elite four repeating cycle. Pokemon coliseum showed a fantastic new Pokemon experience that I wish they would've continued past Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness. It felt so fresh!!! Still have my copy from my childhood, the corners of the case are torn up a bit from a puppy we had at the time taking my console game cases out into the yard and chewing them up, but the game was completely okay! Even though pokemon coliseum and gale of darkness is a highly sought after video game (have you seen the prices they're going for?!) I will never sell my copy of Pokemon coliseum and gale of darkness. Perfect games. (Though I was more of a fan of pokemon coliseum than i was of XD Gale of Darkness) Chefs kiss 💋

    Warning: Established Titles DOES NOT give you a title of lord, laird, or lady that is legally recognized by the government of Scotland. It is a scam to have you buy a plot of 1 square foot of land, that in Scotland isn't enough enough to gain such a title. In fact, Established Titles is a Hong Kong-based company. They are not in Scotland. There is also no guarantee that even if a Hong Kong company has plots of Scottish land, that you are not just buying previously sold plots to other people who fell for this scam.
    Do not fall for this Established Title scam. TH-camrs are not researching anything past a scam email and are reading scripts with incorrect information that is violation of the US Federal Trade Commission for false advertising..

    I ended up playing for +8hrs the first 3 days each day... 😅 I was sucked in and I'm around 3/4ths through the game now cuz I took a break to work. Pokemon Gale of Darkness is the superior title, but Colosseum has enough of its own identity to make it stand out and still age well. It is a grindy game in 2022, but still a memorable one.

  • @Elfos64

    If this game were to ever get remade, there's a number of changes it'd need. I feel like XD Gale of Darkness shouldn't be a sequel but rather like a postgame expansion, all the Shadow moves it added should've just been part of Colosseum to begin with. Also, there needs to be a Minun in the game, it's pointless for there to be a Plusle without a Minun. The Shadow List needs a complete overhaul, of the 48 Shadow Pokémon, 10 of them are already accessible in Hoenn games (11 if you count the Plusle), and another 10 are already accessible in both Kanto remakes. I feel that the Shadow list should prioritize Pokémon to fill in any of the gen 3 games' dex vacancies, all the version exclusives and otherwise inaccessible Pokémon. And the ones that are technically accessible but a pain in the butt to get normally, like how Hitmontop is technically accessible in the Kanto remakes but a huge pain to acquire because of how it evolves from Tyrogue. Otherwise, the catchable Pokémon should consist of some odds and ends to just lend themselves to a good party.
    I'd say swap out Makuhita, Swablu, Vibrava, Absol, Tropius, Metagross, Slugma, Heracross, Skarmory, Skiploom, Furret, Yanma, Dunsparce, Ledian, Ariados, Piloswine, Tyranitar and Togetic…
    For Masquerain, Roselia, Lunatone, Zangoose, Lombre, Nuzleaf, Scizor, Slowking, Weepinbell, Arbok, Arcanine, Cloyster, Elekid, Magby, Sableye, Seviper, Solrock and Mawile, with an extra non-shadow Minun thrown in for good measure.

    Straight up just one of the best pokemon games as a single player RPG. The mainline games have their own charms, but I would argue that the story and single player experience often feels lacking- especially in recent generations. Colosseum (and Gale of Darkness) really stand out as games that show the potential of how solid a more narrative driven pokemon RPG can be. It's a shame they abandoned this style of side game/spinoff almost immediately 😔
