HotSaucee GG comment here is spot on. For between .91-1.61 you can have 1st class with tracking. You need to put your single card in a large flat envelope. Wrap tightly in a flat piece of paper. Tape to the back of the receipt. Don't fold, leave it large. Put in a flat envelope without clasps. Paper or paper stock is ok. Has to be flexible. Rigids that are not able to bend at least one inch when holding half the envelope over the edge of a table or desk and pushing it down, aren't allowed. If you can do the bend test with half firmly held to the surface and half bending an inch or more in mid-air, your good. The weirdest one is a standard letter sized envelope (folded piece of paper) that is between 1/4" and 3/4" is actually considered a "flat". If it's uniform. Not counting the 1" edges of the envelope. This one I'll have to explore carefully. It would probably be a little more because it would be non-machinable by nature. But you'd get the tracking, which is better than the butterfly stamps. Cheapest way to send a sports card with tracking is buying a case of paper stock (some light card stock?) envelopes which are larger than 6 1/4 " wide and flexible. Not free, but saves $2+ per delivery.
Thanks for this update video. I was just about to use the labels but lucky i saw this first. So have you found a cheap way to get tracking for PWE? I'm just now getting into selling Artist Trading Cards same size as baseball card. Ty
I do most of my selling on ebay so I use their Ebay Standard Envelope usually which is cheap and works well. Otherwise, I use a "non machinable" stamp (.70) and write "Please do not bend" on the envelope. That usually will do the trick. Unfortunately Ebay Std Envelope is the only way to have tracking for
It would be nice it the USPS would just explain it plainly so everyone including their employees would understand it better. Why are they even on their shipping supply website if you can't really use them.
So if you put sufficient postage, it will be ok. However, you would need to put enough postage to be first class. If you are just putting enough to cover the standard postage (forever stamp or .70 stamp) that are going to claim that is not enough because by putting this label on it the bump it up to priority/first class and try to charge $6 or $7. So just because you are good based on standard postage for the weight of your item, they will want to charge more due to the tracking.
@@thatcardguy1052 Please, what is the Miminum value for 1oz and 2oz letter? I mean, ir I use 2 Forever stamps of 58 cents (total 1.16) they will accept my letter with the USPS Tracking Label? Thanks.
@@JohnUsp They will likely not do the tracking. Generally the PO's stance is that if you want it tracked, it turns into priority and will shoot up the price if you add the tracking label to it. In general, the forever stamp will cover you up to 1 oz. If you want the additional oz, you can get a 2 oz stamp which I believe cost .78, as it would be an additional .20 per ounce. Or you can just add a .20 stamp to the forever stamp. The "butterfly" stamps that I have talked about before are "non-machinable" and should cover you up to 2 oz - I think they are .78 each.
@@thatcardguy1052 Thanks, but my question is: A 1oz envelope with Label 400. How much is the minimum postage value? ($2, $3, $3.5, $4, $4.5, $5 ?) Thanks
@@JohnUsp the charge would be whatever the current minimum for usps on a first class envelope. When you put the 400 label on it their view is it bumps it to first class. Not sure on the current rates check their website - I estimate 4.50-5. May change based on zip codes
I just sent out several 6.5 by 9 in tanish colored envelopes yesterday with the these tracking labels and just a non machinable Colorado hairstreak, I’ll keep ya posted
Good deal. And good luck. The issue will be whether the delivering PO agrees. Otherwise they are going to slap a "postage owed" note on it for the recipient or send it back to you. I hope it goes through like it used to for me though.
Ok so I got these in the mail. I have no problem paying for these. However I want to ship it in a plain white envelope and pay for tracking. Am I unable to do that?
Yes, you can go to the Post Office and tell them you want the tracking on it and they will charge it accordingly. It will likely get charged at a much higher amount - first class postage etc. but you can do it for sure and it will track it.
They normally would have. However, they are not working the way I originally stated in the original video. Usps now up barges it if you use these labels. They were starting to change the cost to around $7-8 if you use these. So if you don’t mind that up charge yes you can use them they will scan it and your customers can use it as a tracking label
I either use ebay standard envelope which is 1st class tracking for about .71 or I use just PWE with butterfly stamp (no tracking). I have only had one in the last year not reach its destination - so pretty good luck with those reaching their destination. Would just rather the tracking.
that is correct. that is how they will need to be used going forward. though when you pay for 1st class shipping or other tracked shipping you get labels when you purchase. so weird or have these as an option (to me)
Yes, you could use these on a bubble mailer, but that would be a 1st class or priority parcel which would cost a few dollars. I believe this is what they are intended for.
Some people still use them successfully, plus I think there's still good info to be had from them. Just because I dont do it anymore doesnt mean that others cant and dont still do so
Those are "package" labels with tracking. They are sold because if you have a business that does their shipping in house off the USPS website, you just scan that label into the system and it applies it to your account. If you want to be HONEST about shipping it is going to cost you $4.60-$5.00 to ship using tracking. either as a package or certified mail. Anyone else that says different is cheating the system by going "media mail" which is illegal. You can and sometimes do get busted for it. Anything labeled Media Mail can be opened by the Post Office to verify. It's right on their website. If you are cheating the system... for shame.
My usps told me that I can use them on what considered “large envelopes or flats” which is about $1.20-1.60 depending on weight. And I send those out in bubble mailers
That's interesting. I hope that it continues to work for you. The issue will be if it gets to the receiving facility and they don't realize that or don't agree and try to up-charge. It may just be a loophole that you found though! Nice!!
