  • Shipping with the eBay Standard Envelope is a great way to mail your collectable sports cards, stamps, postcards, coins, and money. When you ship with the Standard Envelope you save money and time. Plus, postal tracking is included with the standard envelope!
    In this video, I’ll teach you how to purchase the eBay Standard Envelope postage. I’ll also go over all of the rule and limitations that you must follow when mailing with this method.
    Here’s how it works
    1. List your item: Create the listing for your trading cards, coins and currency or postcards and stamps, and select eBay standard envelope under the shipping section
    2. Ship your item: Print your label from eBay Labels and attach it to your envelope then send via USPS. Tracking is automatically integrated
    3. Monitor your shipment: Track the progress of your shipment only through My eBay or Seller Hub. An acceptance scan is not required. The built-in tracking for this eBay delivery service is what we need to confirm your shipment.
    Here are the rules:
    Trading Cards
    * Ship no more than 15 raw cards per package per envelope
    * Ship no more than 2 trading cards with top loaders
    * No graded trading cards
    Coins & Paper Money
    * Ship no more than 5 raw coins or pieces of paper money
    * Ship no more than 3 coins in plastic flips or pieces of paper money in protector holders
    * No rolls of coins
    * No graded coins or paper money
    * No bullion
    Postcards & Stamps
    * Ship no more than 10 stamps or 3 postcards/postal history items
    * Plate blocks that fit the eBay standard envelope dimensions are allowed
    * No coils or sheets of stamps
    * No graded stamps
    Envelope Size Requirements
    * No smaller than 3.5” x 5”
    * No larger than 6.125” x 11.5”
    * No thicker than .25”
    * Weighs up to 3 oz.

    I bought 500 red 9.5 X 4.5 envelopes at a yard sale for a couple of bucks. Yard sales are great places to find stationary cheap. I bought over 200 index cards that someone had used as flash cards at a yard sale for a quarter and use those to pad the cards.

    awesome video Coach, I've been selling sports cards on eBay for years and been charging $4-5.00 for shipping, and had no clue about the eBay standard envelope, that's amazing, I bet i lost a lot of sales because of my shipping cost, I currently have about 10-15 cards on sale that I will go back and change the shipping cost on, and to add that tidbit, about graded cards, was awesome, very informative, thanks.

    • @CoachCommerce

      Glad I could help Thomas. Keep in mind, you can use the Standard Envelope for any cards with single order values up to $20 USD or for combined orders up to $50 USD. Anything over, and eBay will kick the shipping option off of the shipping hub. That being said, anything over those price points you'd probably want to send 1st class mail anyways.
      Best regards,
      Justin

      @@CoachCommerce I'm loving your channel! I also wanted to ask you, do you send offers to buyers every time there is a watcher on a postcard?

    • @CoachCommerce
      @CoachCommerce  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bluemoon6810 That's a great question! Sending offers is a great way to generate sales. I love using offers to move postcards that have been sitting in my store for a long time. I'd say there's never a bad time to send an offer, as long as you're willing to take a lower price of course! The eBay algorithm loves activity. You'll find that the more active you are on eBay, the more sales that you'll generate. Listing more obviously leads to more sales, but sending offers always works too. Also, the thing about watchers is that sometimes they aren't buyers. Sellers oftentimes watch items similar to the items that they have (to see market trends). That being said, if you have a lot of watchers on an item, it oftentimes can be a sign that the item you have is about to sell. Or, it may not. I have some items in my store that have hundreds of watchers and they haven't sold yet. When I see that, I know it's an indicator that I may have priced something too high. Then, I'll definitely send an offer or lower the price. You're definitely thinking of great ways to increase your sell through rate. Keep it up, and best of luck on your sales! ~ Justin

      Thanks Richie! I couldn't agree more, as I too wish that it were available for that category. I hope that eventually eBay branches out to other "flat" item types because it would be very beneficial. Hopefully this is just the beta before they release it to more categories!

      @giovanni8515 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CoachCommerce is there a reason you could not list a sticker/decal under postcard to be able to ship via standard envelope? I know the category search is important, but isn't it worth experimenting to see if it still sells as you'd save money on shipping??

    • @CoachCommerce
      @CoachCommerce  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@giovanni8515 Technically, you could do this and would be able to use the standard envelope to ship them. I guess it would work as a "work-around". The only thing I would wonder is if it would be hard for customers to find the stickers/decals with them being in the wrong category and if it would truncate them in search. Maybe not, but it may be an experiment worth trying until (hopefully) ebay adopts decals into the program.

    When you print your label (for a postcard) through your Thermal label printer, how do you change the orientation so that the label comes out with the text and bar code in the landscape position? I just bought a Zebra 2844 and my USPS labels come out fine but when I go to print my ESE label the text and the barcode are not aligned with the long edge of the envelope like they need to be.

    • @CoachCommerce
      @CoachCommerce  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi Lynne! Thank you so much for the compliment and for supporting my channel! Yes! You can absolutely print the label on paper and tape it onto the envelope. I did that for a long time until my sales volume went up to the point of it becoming more of a hassle to tape them than it was to purchase adhesive labels.
      When you get to the point of wanting to buy sticky labels I highly recommend these:
      www.ebay.com/itm/151972468114
      I use these labels daily and they are awesome (because you don't need a special thermal printer). They work like normal paper and go directly into any printer. The difference is they are labels that you peel and stick onto whatever you're shipping. They are just as affordable as thermal labels, but don't require you to invest in a thermal printer. I hope this helps!

    I do sell with this method, however I actually hate it. It takes way longer to arrive and the USPS is about 40% to scan it and track it. The positives are the $20 insurance, which I have had to use. I am actually moving to try to making card lots and shipping with what is now ground advantage. The USPS has tried to and actually has up charged me and I’ve had more than a few USPS workers actually try to bend the envelope saying it’s too ridged. My friend has had the same experience with the USPS. I have found the better post offices to ship from, well actually it’s only one where I have had no problems. Good luck all!!!

    Thank you for your time and effort in creating all of your content. How do you find packaging that will remain under 3 ounces in weight when you have, perhaps, a one ounce post card, protective sleeve, envelope plus the standard envelope label? The weights come up as 4-6 ounces for me when I attempt various options to keep the weight down. How may a seller keep the weight at or under 3 ounces to qualify for this method of USPS mailing?

    • @CoachCommerce
      @CoachCommerce  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the complement! I’ve never had problems keeping everything under one ounce. If I’m shipping two to three it will go over to 2 or 3 ounces. I also use everything by that you mentioned as well (clear sleeve protector, packing slip, envelope, and adhesive label). Sometimes, I trim the label down with scissors.
      By chance, do you think your scale could be off or need calibrating? You can always cross check your scale weight with the postage scales at the list office, I have a really accurate scale specifically designed to measure ounces and it goes down to the hundredth of a gram in increments. I use for only shipping postcards as I use my heavier scale for all of my other eBay packages.
      I’ve shipped thousands of postcards, and most standard cards don’t even way a half an ounce themselves (even the more heavy ones I’ve found). It’s hard telling why the weight may be over without being there to help. Keep trying and you may be able to find a system. If you have any other questions I’ll do my best to help!

      @@CoachCommerceI appreciate your input very much, especially on a sunday afternoon. With getting into a 4 .75 x 6" postcard, I'm also getting into bigger protectors and envelopes, all weighing more. I am searching for lightweight shipping options. The scale has appeared to be precise and accurate thus far, stating it did not need to be calibrated upon receipt.. But I'll learn how to recalibrate it with hopes that will offer different results! Can you leave these in the mailbox as outgoing or does it have to be left at a post office?

    QUESTION: Getting ready to ship via ebay standard envelope for first time. My shipping labels print out on regular NOT sticky paper. Is it okay to use tape on the envelope? Confused by ebay directions that say envelope can not be enclosed?? ( I do not know what that means)? or made of any Plastic material. Tape has plastic in it. Okay perhaps over thinking but do not want to upset buyer by having this come back to me for improper shipping.

    Thanks for the info!! Can you put it in the mailbox? No one ever mentions putting packages in their mailbox, they always take them to the post office even though they are already paid for 🤷‍♀️

      You you can! I put them in my mailbox all of the time. I also schedule pickups on the USPS website when I have packages and leave the envelopes with them as well. There's no need to take a trip to the post office if you don't have to.

    After shipping close to 100 sports cards in a top loader, i get one returned saying it was non-machineable and that i needed to add additional 22 cents. I took my envelope back to the post office with the Ebay usps shipping requirements. First clerk said she dont see nothing wrong with my envelope and then she asked her supervisor. The supervisor was claiming with a top loader the envelope is too regid and that it is non-machineable because it will jam their machines. I told her I've sent over 100 similar envelopes and all she can say is that I got lucky.

      I'm sorry to hear that you had an issue with one of your envelopes. It's always a pain when the post office mishandles a package. eBay negotiated mailing the terms of the envelope with the executives at the USPS. Unfortunately, since it's still relatively new, not every post office or postal employee is familiar with the program or prepared to handle the postage in accordance to the terms of the rules. I suspect that as the Standard Envelope becomes more common (and filtered through the post office) that there will be less and less issues down the road. As I'm sure you know, us eBay sellers do all of the groundwork when new eBay policies and programs go into effect. I've seen many different ebay and post office changes in my years as a seller. What I've learned is that as long as you do the best you can and keep pressing forward, things usually get better and changes usually get ironed out. I've been lucky and haven't had many issues with the envelope yet, but I ship mainly postcards with it (which are thin). If you're customer is upset or gives you negative feedback, I'd try calling eBay to see if they can step in and help since you were in the right with following all of the guidelines. I'm sorry again that you had troubles, and hope for the best in the future.

    Anyone else hassled on the daily about “non machineable” which they deem “all sports cards”? I get mine shipped back, and want me to add stamps. To my knowledge, we cannot add non machinable to the label, and it has been like this since introduced. My top loader deems this non machinable. I’ve literally had the post office bend a card rainbow style 180 to show me what the rollers will do to these packages. I wanted to cry, the card he was showing me on was a mint vintage card… so non machinable ONLY according to my post office. Which I cannot print. Thank you for posting this video sir 🙏👍

      I’m sorry to hear that the post office is giving you troubles. That’s heart breaking that they did that to your card as well. If I were in your shoes, I’d take the info & requirements for the standard envelope from eBay (printed) and ask to speak to the postmaster at your local branch. Unfortunately, with this method of mail still being relatively new, most postal workers have no clue about the requirements, allowances, and what is permitted/not permitted. It’s aggravating when the post office should know better. I’m sorry to hear that you’re having so many issues at your local branch. I guess I’ve been fortunate in my region to not have many issues. I wish you the best and hope you get better service soon. ~ Justin

    Love the video, my question is how do I print ‘eBay standard envelope’ (ese) from my iphone. When I purchase a shipping label on the iPhone app, the shipping method always changes to either media or 1st class even though I select ese when I make the listing. And my item meets the criteria for ese use. When I switch to laptop, I can print ese’s no problem.

      Hi Chris! That’s a really good question. I honestly don’t know the answer but will look into it. I print all of my labels from the computer and don’t use the app for printing. The app is limited with a lot of features and I personally find it difficult and buggy when printing from the app. I’ve got a feeling that since the app was released before the standard envelope was an option that it doesn’t default to the setting. I’d like to think it would be something that the developers will eventually patch in an update, but who knows. I’ll ask an eBay rep next time I call though. I have anchor store concierge service, and those reps are usually pretty knowledgeable and empowered to help.

      @@CoachCommerce thanks! Your explanation makes sense. I wouldn’t code the ESE in the App either if I didn’t think ppl would use it. I can say the eBay app plus the Canon print app works well for printing from a phone as long as you can purchase the correct label.

    • @maggiekelly4055
      @maggiekelly4055 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Put the label on the side that opens (usually the back). It will help secure the envelope seal. The postal service won’t care which side of the envelope you treat as the front. To them, the label side is the front side.
