ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 17 ก.ย. 2023
- We have decided to go real nostalgic and create a series where we go visit some of the cars we owned and also didnt own, but we start with Stu’s first car the Peugeot 309 GTI but with the common engine swap of a Mi16 engine.
We relive the days of our childhood with some of the bonkers storys we had.
Enjoy

More 80s and 90s cars please brings back memories prices going up now from when we use to buy them .
Load more coming
Yes We Love The Old Skool it paved the way to Modern shitty coke can cars . If anyone out There as got A Genuine Mini Cooper S
I am in !!!❤
Yep, the good old days when women didn't have dicks
I always thought these handled even better than the 205. I love these cars so much.
Great cars
I absolutely love the cars from the 80s and 90s. I remember when I had a MK2 VW Golf 1.8 it felt like I'm driving a missile. Nowadays people complain that a certain car is only 250-300bhp. Keep them old school cars coming, love these episodes
Cheers buddy, hope you and the family are well
@@MotorAddicts Thanks, you too guys 🤙 I'm so sorry I couldn't come to the Petrolheadonism event I had to work but will see you soon!
Peugeot 309 build looks siiiickkkk 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Memory Lane series is amazing!
Love the memories and we had so many cars with them
I agree with the comments above, more 80’s and 90’s car content. This was the era of many genuine car memories for so many people. Perfect choice of series, keep up the great work gents.
Glad you enjoyed it
What’s other peoples car journey from the 90’s to now?
Mine was:
Fiesta 1.1
Astra 1.6
Focus ST170 2.0
Focus Zetec S TDI 2.0
VW Scirocco TDI 2.0
Fiesta Zetec S 1.6
Focus ST2 2.5
320d M Sport Highline
420D M Sport
430D M Sport
440i M Sport
M4 Competition
Also great video gents, let’s see some Saxo VTS action 😂
Absolutely Love this video.
Most of my mates had Uno turbos
Escort rs turbos 205gtis Renault 5 turbo and a Renault 19 16v
But one of my mates had a 1:9 309 GTi
Great car and fast.
My ride at the time was a VW Scirocco GTi
Can't wait for more videos guys
These were all great cars and we used to have so much fun.
Like you say you didn't need lots of power.
Also had big sound systems too
The sound systems back then was the thing 😂
Takes me back..my bro had a 309gti and i had a Sierra xr4i 2.8...k& n's ashley exhausts...equally matched to over a ton..around that time a mate had a mk1 uno turbo...dunno if it had a bleed valve or chipped but a rapid little rollerskate....a friend of a friend had a Renault 5 gordini turbo( rare as a pay rise, even back then).. but was constant grief..
I was a Vauxhall fanatic back in the day owning a mk2 1.8 ltr Astra GTE and then a 2.0ltr 16 valve GTE (the original Coscast Cosworth heads, no cat, no abs highest power version) Later a Cavalier SRI. Those GTEs n SRIs were great fun proper hooligan motors! I would LOVE to have a GTE 16v again, that`d be my version of this 309 for you Stu.
Stu owned a few GTE’s and he also loved them
Great content lads and many thanks for the mooch around my old stomping grounds of Deal and over towards Sandwich. 😊🙏
Glad you enjoyed it
@@MotorAddicts hope to see you guys tomorrow at the Oh So Retro show 😊
Beautiful example, my 1st motor was a beige 309 1.6L, a couple of motors later I got a 205 1.9gti and
always wanted a mi16 put into it but couldn't afford it so tuned the bollocks off it over time and consequently put a piston through the bonnet . I miss my 205 even to this day my favourite car I've owned , I had 2 others but that 1st one was the one I truly loved. I've owned a few more pug sports models over the years as there is something about them , crap squeaking plastics ,constantly at the garage but a smile for every mile
All about the smiles per mile
I used to know someone who had one of these, which if i remember correctly had a 2.5 V6 from the 406 coupe. Sounded lovely
My fond memories car was an H reg nova l.4 SRI with twin 40K webbers on it. Sounded amazing went like stink. Had a cherry bomb exhaust on it.with oval tailpipe. People could hear me tramping it about a mile away before they saw me. Good old days. Wish i still had it. Lol lol
Love a nova
I owned a 1988 309 gti. Made the mi16 conversion, lowered , goodwood interior, induction kit and 3 inch almost straight through stainless exhaust. An animal in the day 🤣 Sold it for a 3dr Cosworth. Regretted selling ever since.
Stu had a Cossie and he said he preferred the 309
In most ways, I agree. Best handling fwd in the day. Cossie was tail happy everywhere. Both great fun. Love your videos 👍🏻
Great video guys fantastic idea to take a trip down memory lane looking forward to O's and Nicks :)
Excellent boys. I had 2x citroen ax gt500’s. Half leather etc .graphite grey , reg numbers j283llb and j135opb. In my very early 20’s . You never forget 🎉
Good old Citroens
There was what was called 'Driving Lights / Spot Lights' too. They were popular do to Rally Cars of the time.
Remember loving those massive Rally Giant spots and fitted a set to a Luton van as hated driving on back roads with people coming towards you not dipping down their lights, Id stick the rally giants on if they didn't lol
Mechanic pal that fitted them always joked if I did put them on it gave the other oncoming drivers Sunburn.
Bloody hell, I can’t believe Tides is still there! I used to go there when I was a lad with my mates from Birchington… We all used to go to Dumpton Park market as well back in the day! We all used to hang out in our cars along some of the different slip ways along the coastline between Birchington & Westgate… Out of sight then 😉
😂 love the old days
Love pugs of this era
110%
Loved this video! 2 old friends, great memories, great car❤
Thank you
So cool seeing how happy you are driving a car you used to own 20+years ago. Very nice motor! Theres a guy local that has an immaculate 205 1.9 GTI and seeing that always brings back happy 90s vibes to me. It was a great time the 90s being FULL of very cool and entertaining Hot Hatches from every car manufacturer. Good times!
We have a 205 coming on so will be a good laugh
@@MotorAddicts this is gonna be my favourite 'special' with all these nostalgic 90s motors! Can't wait, good luck guys!
Love the old Peugeot's, had a 205 XS in red and also had a 205 Lacoste. Lacoste had the logo on the sides back and steering wheel. Classy!
Love the old skool branding
Great series idea Chaps! Can’t wait to see what other past gems come up
More to come!
Great video, guys. Retro cars are great content. More of what cars the 3 of you had would be good 👍.
Glad you enjoyed it
seems rude to hit the 'like' button when it's respectfully showing 405...but great vid, love the 4-lamp pug face!
Love it! Thanks for bringing back memories
More to come
I had a 3 door 309 gti goodwood, i still miss that car 😢
Love em
I always wanted to go GTi 6 with it but sold it on even though I knew it was rare back then
Wonderful video, these sort of cars are so much nicer to see than another 500bhp auto box AWD modern car 🥱
Keep up the good work
More to come!
The Earth is FLAT!
😂
Nice one fellas always had a love for the Peugeot especially 205gti had my fair share of em 😉 keep up the great content
Appreciated buddy
Loving all the French cars lately! This is really a beauty, mate of mine had the 405 Mi16 as well as 205 rallie and A610 but never experienced the Mi16. Hard to like modern French cars as much as the old ones! Renault 25 Turbo build would be cool if you find one!
Couldn't agree more!
Good luck finding a 25.
Big up Geoff, also great to see my local area!
Glad you enjoyed it
Mate had a 405 MI 16…….loved the car & the badge!!!
Fantastic content.
Lov You guys!
Glad you enjoyed it!
i absolutely love this content as I'm 40 years old 😍
Our age then, you’ll probably like the series
I was still Raving in my 40's REACH for the LASERS! Ave IT!
Loved my H reg 1991 309 (1.6 GT or GR?) non injected 2 door in silver with those sexy blacked out back lights it wasn't that quick by 2006 standards but it stuck to the Devon lanes like a beauty n crashed really well when brakes gave up , sadly it went on a police transporter n I always remember the copper who drove it on crapping himself as I didn't tell em there was no brakes 😅😅😅
Thanks once again lads for the memories of a misspent extended youth, I'm a much more sensible motor enthusiast nowadays....
We are ish now but still love the memories
Sweet 👌 I’ve got one of those , had it for 15 years. Only cost me £900 and still on the road 👍 would love to see you guys do a 405 mi16…and see if you can do a vid on that 19 16v 👍👍
We gonna try all the stuff from the old cool days
Mine was saved from the scrap yard. Nothing wrong with it. Belonged to a friend who was trying to sell, nobody was buying. Said I could have it if I picked it up by 6. That was 20yrs ago, still using it almost every day. It's by no means perfect but great car to drive.
Love my 405 MI16!
Lovely motor, my pal had a grey one with tsw venoms, no back seats, all striped out with a 1.9 turbo engine from a 205 he wrote of. Used to go mc ds car park evry weekend. Him in that n me in what ever I had that month. Haha.
Lush, what a nice motor.
More of this craic please chaps 🙂
More to come!
Love cars of this age and it might not have the massive BHP but you can hammer it and as you lads are showing it puts a big smile on your face and you definitely got to get a 309 and do a video series on it can't wait
I had a 5 door 309 GTI (1992 model) it was tuned by skip brown, magnex exhaust, lowered etc, in graphite grey.....brilliant car........they did do 5 door versions apart from the goodwood.
Nice concept chaps, good emotion.
Can’t wait to get in more
Great video lads, bought back lots of memories, I went to max power show at brands hatch bitd, was a brilliant day out with the lads
Glad you enjoyed it
Very enjoyable as always 👍
Thanks again!
bring back memories mate i learned in a 309 and past my test 😊
Passed my test in one
My mate had a 205 1.6GTi and he gave me a go of it. Absolutely loved the steering. I didn't want to buy the same car, be a bit different and all that, so I got myself a 309GTi. Totally preferred it over the 205 to be honest. Magnex exhaust, lowered on Spax suspension, fuel rail boost valve thingy, had the wheels diamond cut. Loved it. Double clutch and throttle on the downshift, sounded mint, felt like a rally driver.
My other mate bought one of these facelifted versions, just to one up me, the wanker :).
Had one of these when I was 14 😂 different back then no anpr,no cameras used to scream all round the town in it. Bring back the 90s lol
Love the old days
@@MotorAddicts me too miss those days, love the video m8
Had a 21 Turbo as my most sporting car in the day. Nicely quick but Q car understated. Flakey as can be though. Hankered after a 205 or 309GTI though, many hours looking at 309GTI ads, but never pulled the trigger (regrets).
21 turbo I wish I had
Great vid, the more from that era the better.
Hearing the stories you both told reminded me of my uncles old Austin montego o series Turbo engine fully stock, and he jumped the bloody thing on our local bridge 😂 love the 309 lads and stu nicking the fog light had me laughing great vid
All about nostalgia this series
Love these oldskool cars so much more then all these new 800 bhp computer controlled cars!
We totally agree
My stepfather had a 4 door 309 gti all black including alloys with a chip in it nippy car brings me back to when I was a kid loved that car quick aswell in its day 😂
Loved them in black
@@MotorAddicts 💯
Great start to a series!
Thanks 🙏🏻
Yes yes! Love this series idea. Keep them coming! I have a 180bhp Ford Orion if you would like to visit East Sussex
The pug days with mates down the b lanes🏁 we bought so menny 205 gti's !
Great on the b roads
As a Dover resident I applaud you 😁
😂 thanks
defo more of this rather than new cars
Agreed
Lovely car. Loving the nostalgia
So much more to come
Wow! My first car was a 309 gti in red with an mi16. ❤
Yaaaaaas, love em
Still remember going to just outside Edinburgh to potentially buy a 309 GTi - be around 1994 - 95 Sadly it was Tango Orange and had been done badly with a roller, all 4 spots were also broken and the geezer selling it was a tad shifty, he booted the car everywhere with me and my M8 in it so we got a very good idea how he treated the car every journey, it wasn't worth his asking price and I ended up buying a mint white XR3i
Then about 6 months later my daughter was born so I sold the Escort and bought a boring 4 door family car, a Peugeot 405
I still think about the XR3i as it really was my pride and joy and was in mint condition with a low mileage.
The car I never had BUT always wanted was a MK1 Astra GTE ''in white'' - my pal had one and I was envious as hell, still mind a few trips from Glasgow down to Blackpool in it and was just good times.
Thanks again lads.
Cheers!
Would love a mk1 gte
I used to have the 1.9 SRi 405. Wish I still had it. I loved that car. 😉
Would love to find one
Bonjour de La france....love this channel guyz...
Bonjour e merci
Love them i was 205 gti 16 and 19 great stuff 👍 guys ❤had four of them and van lol
I had the Goodwood version of these, fond memories of this beautiful machine!
Great cars them goodwoods
I have a XR4i with full Cosworth running gear, gripper diff, 6 degree rear beam, 200 block and 4x4 head, Hart inlet, 83lb injectors etc etc. Makes 468whp. Built it up from a rolling shell.
That sounds epic, would love to see that. Drop a Dm on insta
Posted pictures on your Facebook page on the K swapped Tee shirts post. I don’t do Instagram.
Damn I love a motor addicts meet…er video. 😅
loving the nostalgic trip watt about a cavalier gsi turbo
We have spoke to someone about getting one on
i'm not as old as you guys but i bought a mk3 fiesta 1.1l 1991 as my second car and i loved it so much. very similar shape (but the hatchback) as this one, 4 gears, 48hp and even though it was so bloody slow it was so much fun to drive.
Old cars was more fun to drive
My first car. Fiat 127 from1978. I miss that one!
Cool car
The 309Gti 8v and 16v is so much better and more raw lookin outside and inside than the 205.! Miss my both black and red 309gti -90! Soo much moore fun to drive theese old cars.. cuse u drive them and they are lightweight!
Totally agree
Mk2 jetta, renault 19 16v, ford orion ghia all great cars back in the day
Love it 👌😎👍
Fooking love 309's!!
❤
Loving the 309, fun motor
Great fun
I have an 87 white rhd 309gti sitting in one of
my sheds in Germany.
It hasn't been used since 95. No docs so getting it on the road again would be really expensive for the TUV. Great handling car for the Alps etc. Acceleration from 50 to about 90mph would see off most of the competition in the late 80s, it had no chance against Renault 5 turbos though. I tried to get rid of it but absolutely nobody wanted it, even for free! It only needs a new fuel pump.
Loved mine ....rose tinted glasses on ..
So cool!
i had a 93 405 grdt ragged it everywhere was still reliable with 150k on clock and was quick for a diesel. i remember the lacoste limited too
They done a 309 Lacoste too, epic branding back then
Nice shape ! better than the modified pug in Taxi.
I agree!
Loving the blast from the past we would fly around in a Charlton 3.0gsi sideways machine
Love them
proper motors boys True Drivers Car..... Kebab loved it. ......
😂
I love so much the 309s.
Wish mine had this kind of power heheheh
So cool
God I loved every moment
Memories
Had one of these in the early 2000s. Great fun …until it wasn’t 🥺
Sorry to hear that
@@MotorAddicts still alive 👍
what a bloody great video idea ! please please keep this up , best cars are the old ones from our youth …… i still as you may know still drive a 1987 944 turbo which i had a non turbo since 17 so true am a true petrol head junky from the 80s !!
i’ve currently got a lorry turbo in it and stand alone ect but that’s another story 😉
keep these going please 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Dan ferraro 😛
We want to relive our childhood hero’s and the cars we missed out on
Had a 309gti G reg in red superchiped lovely motor
Just an idea lads, what about some 80s / 90s themed music over the b roll shots? I reckon it might just work well 😁👍
Would love to find some that doesn’t hit us in backside for monitzation
I had my old 205gti 1.9 souped up at pug performance in Hampshire and they took me out in a Goodwood 309 1.9 turbo technics it was RAPID.
Such cool cars
Standard the 205/309 GTI was less than 130bhp, not nearly 150bhp. The MI16 had 158bhp.
😂😂 remember keeping look out "an edgy" for a friend needing a 205 fog light lens... avez a 😍
😂
I had the renault 19 loved that car.
We need one in for sure
Always loved the 309 GTI. That and the CRX. or the AX GT. Nova GSI on Speedlines. The Carisma R5.
The Ecosse 306 3dr coupe saloon thing...filth
AX gt epic little car
70mph haha! yeah right :) Cool though, my cousin had an SRI with the Mi16 lump. Very nice car. I had a dodgy 8v integrale with no insurance and German numberplates. Getting pulled over by the Police and trying to sound like a German was fun.
Let’s go!
Had a 205 gti with mi16 in it was great fast as reg was j54mlm
What a nice car
For the record: Some 8v Gti's come with Air-con, but you had to option between it or power steering because there wasn't enough room on the engine for both pumps.
I believe there was a 309 16 valve from factory, I always fancied one of these or a Goodwood, but the 205's were way easier to acquire for me.
Some good facts there. There was a 309GTi 16v but only in LHD!! Also Peugeot 106 Rallye ( which is 8v here) was also in 16v LHD
@@markwalton8644 I'm actually wondering if they had both air-con and P/S now? 😂 I know certain 405 Mi16 blocks had dedicated provisions/mounts for AC, and thus are sought after for supercharger conversions. As far as I can figure, the 309 and 405 share same/similar 16v blocks.
This is a rabbit hole I didn't expect to go down today 🤣 But on the flip-side, I even found a few for sale. lol
Also, I love a Rallye. Thanks for that info
There was 309 GTi 16v from the factory albeit not in the UK I guess
Not sure where the 148bhp standard came from, 130bhp from the 1.9 8v (as per the 205 1.9 GTI)
I had an ‘88 2dr 309 GTI, I remember the lift off oversteer 😁Some kind chap t-boned me a day after I got it & very nearly wrote it off. I had a red Citroen BX 16v (Mi16 160bhp) but unfortunately had lots of expensive engine trouble.
Please do a renault 5 GT turbo!! Never had one but my dodgy mate had one when we were younger, scared the shit out of me on numerous occasions. Weirdly, he never had a job but managed to afford really nice cars? weird. 🤔
Hmmmmm 🤔 😂
Had a 309GTI in white with stainless manifold and exhaust not that quick about 130 bhp but sounded sweet.
Very nice!
