    So glad to see this collab! I have been following Tyler for a while now and have learned so much from him. I'm 5'7 and am still a total noob. Getting about 300 with accuracy but I feel like I'm on the cusp of so much more with help from people like Tyler!

    Man Tyler is awesome! Thanks big time for sharing this conversation man! I watched this video today and the idea of waiting to reach back as long as possible (11:10) made so much sense to me I had to go out and try it. I immediately broke my distance record! Huge thanks to you and Tyler again!

    As a 45+ years old player, I'd just like to say for some of us with nerve damage and arthritis and bum knees from rock climbing and skateboarding, about 350 is what I'm capable of. That's why woods course's are my jam. I'm never going to throw like the pros, but that's okay. I play my best game.

    I have to say, the tips that resonated with me was 1) quicken the backswing and swing, 2) keeping it simple, and 3) stop worrying about it when you're actually playing a tournament (or scored round) - you have to play with what you got. But that first one I think might help timing issues that I have.

    I'm 5'8", 135 lbs, and I'm at that 380 ft range. I'm really interested in trying some things out to help me get to that elusive 420+ ft range. Us shorter guys need to work extra hard for that distance!

      I’m legit the same build but can only get a distance driver about 300 ft😂
      But I just started playing this past December so I hope to get up to 350ish by the end of the year.

    • @farlemon
      @farlemon ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ItzSiebz I'm sure you can if you put in the practice! I've only been playing for 22 months (Almost 2 years, dang), and only really focusing on form for the past year or so. 350ft is definitely an achievable distance.

    • @nixx1195
      @nixx1195 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ItzSiebz I’m the same build as well and that was my max for most of last year until i really started working on form these last 4-6 months. I would start by making sure your plant foot is hitting before your pull through is coming through, as that’s a very common mistake in new players. I’ve been playing a little over a year now and can throw 400+ golf lines and that alone gave me another 50 ft.

    • @OkieTradez
      @OkieTradez ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ItzSiebz try a Invictus not as fast as a Destroyer but flies like one so you can get that 330ft shot pretty easy out of it on a flex line and its also great into headwind you can throw it flat and will fly straight turn right a second and fight back left and will go just as far into headwind about 330ft easily ..

    recently ive figured out how to throw LAZER BEAM hyzer flip sidearms .. started off bcuz i couldnt throw my midrange into a headwind sidearm but same disc i could back hand into headwind so i knew had to be my technique eventually figured it out and took that same style of throw to my drivers and BOOM launching 380ft lazer beams with my star Destroyer or even 410ft hyzer flips with my star Shryke.. i also figured out that to get my mids and understable drivers to throw great backhand i have to pull back on a hyzer Isaac Robinson style whereas when i throw a flat or anhyzer drive i pullback on anhyzer angle with disc Ghannon style .. its like we try to copy technique from one disc to another or one speed to another but each style of disc needs a different style of throw one needs more spin and one needs more speed

    I suggest you find people that aren't 25 and under to get how they threw farther..it's and age thing. Went from 76 mph to 86 just by streaking a couple things when I was young. my point is you will ALLWAYS find younger people getting the most change in their game. find the older guys that just started (there are tons) and find those guys and girls' tips on how they improved. anytime you find younger people, they will almost improve regardless with repetition. I did it multiple times through multiple sports with youth and a few changers. Find older people on how they just learned to throw harder because it eliminates the age advantage. You get these tips, apply to the young guys too, and they will automatically improve. I'd love to hear how a 40 year old threw extra 100 ft. Bet you can't find that.....I've been trying and actually figured it out. But there aren't many others out there

      @@NickCarroll I have no channel, but I did find a few techniques for us older folks that helped. So there are a FEW tips out there. One was using less on my run up speed and focused on waste up to get accurate throws then slowly incorporate run up speed.

      Grip has been a big one that's rarely correctly explained. Dave's "Pivot and Pop" video and someone else pointing out you don't open your hand to release the disc.
      At the apex of the throw, you wanna have the disc pivot itself from the back to the front of your grip and pop it's self out of your grip, you don't actually open your hand to release it. Sucker will fly outta there with so much spin.

  • @cesarescalante11
    @cesarescalante11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The idea of the hyper-extended "reach back" is probably the biggest thing hurting most players with distance and accuracy. It's like little kids backing up 50 yards to run and jump into a pool.
    You aren't going to accelerate the disc materially in a couple of inches where you have no power. It's just more distance for the rest of your body to yank it into where it's able to do something. It's not a position like the bottom of a squat where you get a stretch reflex. You are just sticking your arm out without regard for the rest of the body.
    There's a more compact version of a swing for everyone that will be at minimum distance neutral and more accurate, but likely distance-positive.

    to get your heel down INSTEAD of thinking to ones self get the heel down what you wanna do is SLAM that foot into the ground thats overexaggerating the move to get heel down in a fast way and eventually you dont have to think about slamming the foot down it just will happen!

    i think Josh from Overthrow is great and other guys are great but i also think Overthrow is wrong on a few things like hes confusing a few things and when you bring that up he gets all butt hurt and cant comprehend he said something not quit right etc.. Stokely even admits some techniques work for some and dont for others and you have to understand that!

    not convinced height matter as much for distance as its being suggested here. I think coordination is far more important to D and its easier to be coordinated when you shorter/smaller. now putting i think height can give you a noticeable edge in that department.
