Surely if the disc goes out the bottom of the basket, that still counts? If it doesn't, it should.

No different than a golf ball going in the hole on the fly and hopping back out. That doesn't count, either.
@@shawnheidingsfelder8179 That is very different. A golf ball bouncing back out of the hole would be equivalent to a disc hitting inside the basket and bouncing out (it can happen)
@@shawnheidingsfelder8179 If the disc comes out the top I don't think it should count, just like in golf. But in golf, if the golf ball goes underneath the hole it DOES count as a hole.

the aces that barely don't stick but stay close to the basket really don't belong here. also no way any break is worse than corey ellis falling through the bottom of the basket!

I would not necessarily consider the Matt Bell shot a bad break. Yes it hit chains, but if it didn't get the basket, that disc is gone down that hillside to Narnia.

Dear disc golf, you need different goal rules because this is just stupid at this point...
Nah, just accept the rules from the days when it was a hippy/degenerate hobby before the Brodie Smith bros got into it.
Aim for the base of the basket and don't pretend like the basket itself is anything other than the flag in regular golf.
If you don't hit the pole perfect, you're gonna overshoot. It's frustrating but it should be obvious and considered in every throw.
Needs the Brodie DDO forehand that picks up in the wind and rolls OB for no reason at all
James had a putt at that tournament for like 8 feet where the wind just straight blew it out too.
There should be a rule for the Corey Ellis putt. That should count. It’s not his fault the basket is faulty.
Corey ellis putt should count 100%. Literally what can u do as a player to prevent that from happening. It lands in the basket and then just falls out? Its like if u made a putt in golf and then a second later the ball just shot back out next to the green for no reason
Yeah, I'm not sure what the official rule is there, but in my recreational play, if it falls out the bottom I count it. That's the fault of a poorly built basket, not the player.
Yea, that basket was known to be damaged before and was repaired, then put back on the course without checking it. That put should have counted.
When in doubt, check with the guys on your card before shooting again.
Everyone plays on the same equipment. Sad to say that he found that 1 in a million spot. It's almost impossible to catch if you didn't measure every inch of the baskets after repair. A slighty bend, and it cost him the tournament.

@@MichalMarsalekthat one was just dude didn't register that the disc didn't go in, then assumed it bounced out. They should have scored him for the first shot instead of letting him take another stroke on that hole.

@@gameshowman1234 not the same imo, it would be like the ball falling through the bottom of the hole, which is impossible. Spitouts are rough but they happen, this was just straight up wrong, baskets should be made for this to be impossible based on regulation discs

I played by myself today and I told the random guy he could play through, and he was like “no it’s okay” and the we ended up playing a round together and he helped me so fucking much. I watch the videos and I get how to do it, but I’m never gonna truly know if I’m actually doing it right without some who knows telling me. Then he told me how to deal with ants. Fucking great guy. Made my last day of vacation so much better.

That was a GOOD break, since without hitting the chains, that would have been 30 yards long and two shots minimum needed. Now he got a drop in putt.
How is it that the putt at 6:20 doesn’t count? It came to rest supported by the basket.

I really like disc golf, but if you have people going 45 under on a tourney there is something wonky with the scoring. They need to make it more challenging for pros to make par without adding more hazards. They should just move the tee boxes way back on some holes

Dude the discs just rolling for 100 feet or more is just insane.
What an awesome sport. It’s fun you get exercise and honestly just going out with friends the kids and having a few drinks while being a little bit competitive makes for a great time.

@@poljaar I think he means the bad breaks. Especially with the recent controversy about inconsistent baskets on tour and how they catch differently/poorly. This video is definitely good for exposure and good for the game!
I think the close calls leading to horrific results are more devastating than near-aces.
Yeah, like Mcbeth hitting the pole with a perfect shot and rolling OB is a bad break, not getting the ace is just missed opportunity.

Heartbreaking is that this past time activity is being treated like a sport.
Just let the pole be exposed. The cover they hit makes the disc roll so much easier and more often.

I feel like 4:00 was kind of a lucky break. sure it hit chains and didn't go in, but it dropped straight and flat to the the ground. and with the speed it had, anything except chains could have been devastating n the bounce
Yeah. Some of this stuff really needs to be fixed. Inconsistent baskets on professional games are ruining the pro scene. Nature based obstacles has always been a part of the as well but when the wind is that bad. That's when you just really should reschedule. Professional scene desperately needs better standards if they want to see continued growth similar to what was going on a few years ago.
Disk Design also needs to start being either standardized or improved if they ever want to stop these roll outs. Rolling out isn't honestly that common but it's common enough to be an issue.
I think Baskets need to be improved, analyzed, just like Discs have been improved, if it goes in it should stay in. Period!! it's coming .. watch

Why do disc golfers use the term putt, it's just weird, your throwing a disc not putting
"Putt" comes as a variant of the word "put", as in shove or gentle push. You put the disc in the basket, just like you're putting the ball in the hole.

Love watching this new sport grow but they need to update the terminology. A Par "putt"? Why not call it how it is, a Par toss or Par hand.
Nothing wrong with the terminology. They basically copied the terms from ball golf, and if they changed it now it would just be confusing.
