      In the first minute he says it’s one of the most requested form reviews. That might have something to do with it.

      @@PatrikLythell just like Instagram influencers say, "yeah, like, so everyone's been asking what a day in my life is like so here it is guys."
      No, no one or very few people requested this.
      I never hear anyone bring up Oakley except maybe to mention he has strange looking form. Never heard anyone say, "you know, I'd love to see a form review and figure it out."

      @@lsapg09 I think most people would have voted to learn about someone with more traditional form, like Paul Mcbeth or Paige Pierce.

    One take away I got from this is that with Paul and Simon, when they keep the hips and shoulders up before and into the x-step is that they are able to keep eyes forward until the last second. Eric shifting down early pulls his head down before going into x-step instead of after.

      That was my takeaway as well. That byproduct could make a huge difference in driving accuracy

    Eric's How to Hyzer Flip tutorial 1 yr ago resolved my issue and a couple friends of mine who were saying, "I release hyzer but it's flying flat or turning over."
    "I know exactly what you're doing. Eric Oakley helped me realize; we're standing up."
    Eric, I keep watching your video, perhaps you should too (joking).
    Excellent video which also helped me discern when I want to use a Heat vs Avenger. I know overlap but bite me, I'm stubborn

    Being out driven by a noob doing standstills was definitely one of those moments for me. Generating power on standstills is so basic I wish someone told me to just do standstills in the early days but I would have probably just offered them a beer. Another good segment!

    One thing to point out that Eric does is drop the elbow during the swing, so the disc is angled inefficiently as he throws. I have this exact problem, and it robs some of the energy from the disc. Part of it is fixed by lowering the disc during reachback or extension, as well as bringing the elbow up more during the swing. This would give him a more linear swing plane. It's encouraging to me he seems to correct for that at the end, but I still think he's losing a little bit of distance due to that inefficiency.

    Apples and oranges. Eric and most pros are in the hop and drop to a hard stop category. This transfers gravitational force into the kinesthetic chain.
    Paul comes from a baseball background, so its linear, a strong, sideways back leg push. You wound not hop to swing a bat. Of course, Paul braces too, but it is to transfer linear and rotational energy generated by the back leg push and the rotation of the core, and upper body.
    Both are good form, optimizing physics. However the drop and stop is hard on the knee and hip joint of the brace leg. You dont see 50 year old leaping into a brace.

    I think the main reason already successful athletes excel at disc golf is because they've already learned how to improve their form generally. I find that there's a significant distance between what I feel like I'm doing when I throw the disc and what I'm actually doing. It's very difficult to reduce that distance and many people don't even realize it exists. If you've already become successful at a form-based sport, you're probably already good at reducing this distance or at least finding ways to objectively focus on what you're actually doing (with video, etc.) imo.

    Good stuff. I wonder if the hop and repositioning is causing a swing that’s a little early, making lag next to impossible. In other words, because he’s exploding as he comes down, his body is naturally unwinding as his back foot hits rather than his front. Just a thought!

    Did you happen to get pictures of the bottoms of these pro shoes. I'll be very curious to see where the wear pattern is on their shoes. Especially Simon and Drew. Based on watching my form and looking at my shoes, I think I'm rotating too much on the balls of my feet.

    Before this gets too far away from me, 3:02, the hips/shoulders for locking in on the line. And as far as head down goes, as with ball golf, it's more or less like shooting blind. After that it's like visualize and commit

    I'm really struggling with the bracing part of my backhand form. Every pro I see, their knee almost twists naturally. Whenever I try to brace on the front foot I almost always end up just swinging my leg around. What is the core cause of this?

    Fascinating how Eric dips the angle of his hips down, but then manages to get that angle up off the plant and into the release. I am struggling to keep my hips up angled. It leaves me leaning over the top and throwing low.
    Anybody have tips on how they learned to do this? Seems like I either need some more bend in the back leg during the coil, or need to plant without rushing/reaching the foot, so I can stand up and push back off the plant rather than leaking over it so much?

    I'm use this form. My biggest problem is standing up in my release when I use a stable disc(vulture) and my lead foot slides out alot if I'm not on a pad. 4hand too. It's because Im good at ball golf. When I swing hard I lift onto my toes(300yds). I need spikes in my disc golf shoes. My back foot slides out on my c2 putt when I'm in the woods. I miss 10ft right. It's horrible.

      Been working on my putt. Trying not to rock back and forth then stepping further back out of my spot I cleaned

      I also stand up in my putt. I start on hyzer and lift to flat in my release. Putt with Rekos and nomads

    I'm surprised you didn't cover the left arm. Shouldn't it tuck down? In Eric's swing, it never really does. Wouldn't that allow for faster rotation & therefore more distance?

    So much negativity towards Eric ... He is, in my experience (meeting him at the same tourney two times, for what that's worth), a legitimately friendly, kind person. I do not get where that shit comes from. He was super friendly with my goofball-ass, and I am literally nobody to him. I'm just a guy who walked up to him and rambled at him at a tourney. Nice guy, through and through.

    Eric needs to minimize almost everything he does if he wants to be more consistent. I wouldn't teach anyone how to do what he is doing.
