You guys have captured The New Mexico section so well, very enjoyable to watch. Can’t wait to see the next few days. I first met Marion just after the NM/CO border when she was in a the tuck position zooming up a steep hill up to HW17 (impressive). , I asked if she had seen Paul and Natalia as I was to host them that night. She said “we passed a couple, they were near Cruces Basin & they had road bikes, and the lady was pulling a trailer, it could be a while”, anyway they showed later, all went well. Then we met you guys on the road from Platoro into Del Norte and had wonderful dinner in Del Norte; Fred, Marion, Paul, Natalia, ? Tiimy&leal?, Rita (dog) & Dan. Because of that dinner I was motivated to ride from our place near Horca to south to Grants NM last fall - so thanks! Keep The videos coming !
Hi Rich! Thanks so much! We were so grateful to meet you. You took a great photo of us two when we had climbed up to you 😀What a great dinner night it was at the brewery. Do you actually know whether Paul and Natalia really made it up all the way to Alaska? Nice work on riding down to Grants! Maybe the following videos inspire you to also explore going further up north 😉
Hi Rich! Awwww, so nice to hear from you! It was great to connect along the route and it makes me happy to know that you ventured out on the trail! Keep having fun, you love in such an amazing area!
Totally! It was such a change from the past couple of days! Not much water ob that section though (Except for the one little lake next to the grazing cattle, not so inviting)
Nicely done! Saw a bear on that part one year, then had some elk running through the woods next to me that scared the daylights out of me for a bit until I figured out what it was on another year. Great video.
Great video today! I especially liked the scenery and the boppy music when you started the ride. Can you tell me what tire width you are using? - the road was definitely bumpier today. Thanks
Hi Richard, thank you! We were using Schwalbe Rock Razor tires 27.5 x 2.35 tubeless. We found this was a great choice for the Divide. Did not have a single flat :)
Abseits jeglicher Zivilisation, keine Menschenseele ist Euch auf der Etappe begegnet. Wo gibt es das noch? Es macht Spaß in Gedanken mit Euch zu fahren. 💪🥵
Ganz lieben Dank Mami! Dies war wirklich ein besonderer Tag: lange, anstrengend, haben Elch gesehen, Insulin ist hier den ersten Tag warm geworden und hat Wirkung verloren. Nichts was uns aufhalten konnte 😉💪
Hi Brett, definitely! It starts out very tame on the road climbing up and stays tame for the first half and towards the end… there’s a pretty rocky part climbing up in the second half (short) and then the downhill had big rocks and sand - fun on our bikes and amazing if you have a mountain bike. Looks less steep / rough on video but one of the more rough sections on the divide
Hi Fred, thanks for the intel. Sounded like a lot of climbing based on your description. I think my biggest day was 5000 feet of elevation. Not even close to your section. Cheers!
I love the amount of detail that you give us, thank you as always for sharing. I was going to ask how much water did you carry for that day but then I saw 7 litres each, that amount I guess was with a possible 2 day trip in mind, do you happen yo remember how much water you each actually drank that day?
Hi Lee, thanks! We carried 2 liters assuming we’d need 1.5 days (short day to finish) and not relying on finding water. We did actually filter water out of the small lake where we took a break (that was also the only water source when we were there ) - just as a backup. We drank about 4-5l each for a day that started around 7AM and ended around 6PM (incl breaks etc)… we just wanted to be safe…
Wieder ein sehr cooler interessanter Tag , landschaftlich wunderschön👍
Danke Romy! Das war der erste Tag in der Wildnis in den Bergen, weit ab von Menschen 😉
Danke! Das war wirklich einer unserer Lieblingstage - total abwechslungsreich und abenteuerlich!

One of my favorite days on the route for sure! It was hard and beautiful!
LOve it!!! Makes me wanna go back and ride it again
Thanks Ryan 😍 Next time we should do it together! You would love this day northbound 😜 Great to see you are back!
We’re looking forward to your Tour Divide part 3.
That looks very green for new mexico
Doesn't it. We also did not really expect this. Will get much drier again getting out of Abiquiu.

Hi Mike! We saw an elk too! No bears though! Thanks for your encouraging feedback! Hope you had a great time on the divide!
Rockstars!

Es war total schön ! 😊 freut uns sehr, dass dir die Reise auf diesem Weg gefällt! Das war auch echt einer unsere Lieblingstage!
Very nice. I noticed some of the trails had sand on them or were a bit washed out. Thank you! Keep them coming:-)
