    this is part of the 20k service, right? I need to find out what else is included in that service, because I believe they said they wanted like $2k to do it.

    Thanks for the great video - did you use a OEM mercedes replacement fuel filter or a different manufacturer?

    don't forget to reconnect that red dc adaptor clip to the left side of the air filter.

      Thanks - good catch. A few days later I noticed that I forgot while I was cleaning the engine! Thanks again for the comment and very good watching skills 😁

    You can save yourself about 20 minutes and leave the filter bracket in place. Loosen the bolt that keeps the filter tight in the bracket and the filter comes straight out and you don’t need to remove all the other stuff about the filter

      That’s a metric Alan Head bolt yeah? What size?

    Wow thanks for the demo but whew! My Automotive tech heart is pounding watching you work around that exposed turbo with you flinging ratchets ,sockets and what ever around. Anyone trying this cover the turbo inlet with a very clean rag to stop the chance of ANYTHING! getting in there.

      Hervey good point, things like that can happen for sure. Thank you for watching!

    Cover the turbo inlet! A dropped screw would be $$

      Agreed - I thought about that as I was working. I was very careful but your idea would be 100% the way to go. Thanks for the comment/tip

      A quick tip I discovered. . . the plastic cap from an average spray paint can fits PERFECTLY to cover the turbo inlet. Nice peace of mind while working in the area!

    9:40 You mention another video EGR? Where?

  • @GroomLake-Gremlin
    @GroomLake-Gremlin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Great video. I'm studying up right now in preparation of changing my fuel filter (2011 Sprinter). I do wish you had shown the 'priming' process and actually started the van up.
    Also, I was cringing too with the turbo inlet ... like a few other commenters.
    Technically, according to MB . . . you're supposed to replace that gasket/seal ring that lines the inside of that hose *every time* that hose is removed from the turbo. A bit excessive IMO but it does illustrate the importance of that seal and to handle with care.
    Thanks for your videos. You're helping . . .

    How many miles were on your fuel filter when you replaced it?

  • @davidwhamilton8559
    @davidwhamilton8559 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I replaced my fuel filter on a 2017 Mercedes sprinter and now when I go to drive it I get up to 20 miles an hour it just shuts off it starts right back up again and does it again and again and again not sure what’s up. Check engine light comes on and stays on but no codes

    • @GayeNRobert
      @GayeNRobert  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi David - not sure what would be happening. I'd suggest to take it to a local auto parts store and have them read the code for the check engine light. Most likely something simple

    Bob your a good teacher, how much did you save by doing that yourself?

    • @GayeNRobert
      @GayeNRobert  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good Morning Jeff - not even sure the savings but so easy being able to do it from the top of the engine. Made it easy. Rarely do I take it in for maintenance service, but transmission fluid change I will on this vehicle. Have a great day!

  • @dthomas3065
    @dthomas3065 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Dumb question…do you need to disconnect the battery before the filter to prevent throwing a code?

    • @GayeNRobert
      @GayeNRobert  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi David - good question, I did not disconnect the battery and had no code - thankfully!
