- Sprinter Automatic Transmission Service
In this video I have a 2016 Sprinter with a 2.1 diesel engine and it is due for a transmission service. This service includes dropping transmission pan, replacing filter, fluid and a specific procedure to fill the transmission. Let's get going.

You are welcome thanks for watching.
Good info, thanks Tony.
Great video Tone. They sure are making it harder to service modern vehicles in your driveway.
Absolutely, some vehicles do not even have oil dip sticks. Thanks for watching
Thanks!
Thank you Man I appreciate that. Thanks for watching.
I have a question, please. When you drain the oil inside the crankcase, does all the oil from the gearbox come down or not? I have seen people add oil inside the gearbox to also drain the remaining oil. Is this true? The question is: when the engine is off, does all the oil from the gearbox flow down into the crankcase?
QUESTION BEFOE ANYTHING ELSE, IS there a difference in obd2 scanners between one's that work with Diesel or Gas?
There is a difference between scan tools. Just different ones do and allow different things. As far as gas and diesel no difference there just some have different abilities.
What happened to draining the torque converter?
Oh yeah you can do that on some vehicles. Thanks for watching
@@NutsandBoltswithTone I don’t know why you wouldn’t, the torque converter holds approximately 2 litres of fluid. So not draining it means you are only replacing 2/3 of the oil and mixing old oil with the new!
@darrenbrown4234 this is very true as long as the torque converter is serviceable to drain.
@@NutsandBoltswithTone these 7G-Tronic boxes have a access hole in the bottom of the bell housing and a small drain plug in the torque converter. If you don’t have a torque converter drain then a system flush is the only way to do a complete fluid change. In my opinion it’s not worth changing just some of the fluid.
@darrenbrown4234 yes you are absolutely correct. What I meant is not very many vehicle offer a service plug for the torque converter.
