  • There are many countries that sell Residency by Investment programs or in some cases Golden Visa schemes. These programs are very compelling for those seeking opportunities to expand their horizons and improve quality of life. The Investment is usually made in real estate, business ventures, government bonds, job creation, research and development projects, or direct contributions to government funds. In return the applicant along with his family are granted a residence permit which enables them to live, work, open bank accounts and even get Legal Rights like a native citizen. To top it off, there are some countries that offer tax reliefs and the ability to acquire Citizenship after residing for long-term. So Second Citizenship is always a possibility in most of these programs.

I bought a lovely apartment in Saranda Albania. 120,000 buys a lovely place and qualifies any for residency. $3000. In the bank. Health insurance. And proof of retirement funds for 12,000 a year. Paradise! On my 3rd happy year already!

Hong Kong, if you can afford. The average price is about US$2000-3000 psf for a general one. This price is already 25% off from the peak. It's a good time now.

Italy is expensive compared to local salaries. Portugal is changing their visa program again. I'll do one more trip to Napoli & finito. Central America or Mexico is looking good.

Cypress and Latvia, Latvia not only a beautiful and decent price country to live in, they also don't ask you to sell your entire asset to move in like all the other garbage European country including Dubai which is one long-distance missile from Iran to be vanished

For people who moved here in the US decades ago, just sell your US property and return to the country where you originally came from. No investments needed and can easily get back your original citizenship.

EUR250K Cultural Donation or EUR500K Investment Fund/Job Creation (by investing in a company there).

You could do a D7 Retirement or D8 Digital Nomad residency in Portugal without investing, but then you need to go settle there (if you can qualify). The bureaucracy is very challenging though, and you can expect major delays (especially on family reunification). Italy's Golden Visa is WAY faster (3-4 months), offers pre-approval step, and you can invest in a company that invests in property, if you want hard asset backing.
