  • Welcome to another new video on this video!
The 2024 edition of the Rally Sweden was a really exciting event, with several unexpected twists and turns, a WRC2 driver winning a stage and a well deserved winner, who finally wins again after his first win in 2017! But he wasn't the guy who scored the most points. I will dive into this rally and evaluate each driver's performance from that weekend, including a review of the WRC2 class and a short summary of the Junior WRC. Enjoy!

i see rather yohan rossel as ford puma rally1 driver than munster, dammit! im still personally skeptical for munster. look his the results.

To be honest, I am still a bit sceptical too but I would give him some time to adapt. As for Rossel, I do believe that he will move up to WRC soon, but the problem is, that no seat is open at the moment. I would hope that, one day, M-Sport will use a third full-time entry for drivers like Yohan. But time will tell, I guess.

@jm69eng35 well, Rossel barely beat Gryazin at Monte Carlo in the same car and if Gus Greensmith and Pierre-Louis Loubet couldn't cut it, would Rossel fare any better? And IMO he is loyal to Citroën and perhaps he should wait for the FIA to throw the towel and make Rally2 the premier class in WRC

@@ivaneurope As long as we don't have to witness Serderidis and Bertelli cruising along in Rally1 machinery, I'd take anyone of these guys for sure

@@jm69eng35 And I'd argue that the Ford Puma Rally1 isn't exactly the best car for young or less experienced drivers to kickstart their journey in the top class. In fact, I don't think the Rally1 cars are easy to learn for such drivers. And perhaps it's time for the FIA and the WRC promoters to admit defeat and just make Rally2 the premier class without any unique aerodynamical kits - why charge premium for an aero kit that would be used maybe in 13-14 rallies, when the Rally2 cars are just fine as they are and you can use them everywhere.

This rally exposed how ridicilous the new pointscoring system is. Lappi won the race, but at the same time he didn't as he hadn't scored the most points in this event

I still maintain the opinion that the idea behind this points system is good, but they need to change the amount of points you get on Sunday, whilst potentially scrapping the Power Stage points (or only giving one point for the five quickest drivers).

@@jm69eng35 The idea is good on paper, but the execution is terrible. The points awarded should be done in a way that the overall race winner should not earn less points than a driver finishing lower in the standings. And honestly, I'd rather exclude drivers using the Super Rally (or whatever it's called these days) system from being eligible for Sunday points (but would keep the Power Stage points eligibility) as these drivers were the biggest benefactors from this pointscoring system as they could earn points on recovery rides while being way down the pecking order. Kalle Rovanperä finished 39th, but earned more points than say Oliver Solberg in 5th due to Kalle being 2nd on Sunday alone and had won the Power Stage

@@ivaneurope I do agree with the Super Rally take. Not really a fan of it either.
