My mother-in-law and her three brothers grew up a few doors away from the Kennedy Compound in Hyannisport. They were not wealthy. Her three brothers spent many summers playing with the Kennedy boys- most of the time Bobby and Teddy, sometimes Jack, who was a few years older than they. The stories told by her brothers and her mother were mostly of how often cheap the Kennedy family was. One story told by my husband’s grandmother was: Bobby showed up at the kitchen door one early June morning saying, “I lent Sam a nickel last summer, I want it back.” As his grandmother noted, “Considering all the money they have, and all he can think of is he wants his nickel back?”
The Kennedys have an undeserved reputation for caring for the people; in private they seemed to my in-laws cheap, reckless, and arrogant.

The following first-hand account is true - as recounted by Evangelist Billy Graham: "Just a few days before president-elect John F. Kennedy was to be inaugurated, I was invited to join him and Senator George Smathers in Florida for a golf game and an evening visit at the Kennedy compound in Palm Beach. As we were driving back from the golf course, President Kennedy parked the car, turned to me and asked: "Do you believe Jesus Christ is coming back to earth again?" I was dumbfounded at his question. For one thing, I never dreamed that Mr. Kennedy would ask a question like that, and for another, I wasn't even sure that he knew Jesus was supposed to come back! Having only been with him a few times prior to that incident I had no grasp of his religious knowledge. "Yes, sir, I do," I replied. "All right," he said. "Explain it to me." So for several minutes I had the opportunity to talk to him about the second coming of Jesus Christ. I have often wondered why he asked that question, and I think part of the answer came a thousand days later when he was assassinated. Cardinal Cushing read the verses I've quoted (below*) at President Kennedy's funeral, and millions of people watched and heard the services around the world. That statement in verse 17 especially stands out: "We who are alive on that day will be caught up together with those who have gone before to meet the Lord in the air." That phrase "caught up" is the translation of a Greek word which means to snatch away. The day is fast approaching when Jesus Christ will come back to "snatch away" His followers from all the graveyards of the world, and those of us who are alive and remain will join them in the great escape! That is the hope of the future for the Christian."
    *
Verses read at funeral: "For the Lord Himself will descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ will rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore, comfort one another with these words." 1Thessalonians 4:16,17

@@dorothywillms115 You're welcome, Dorothy. And possibly (if it WERE possible) even more poignant is the account of John F. Kenndy, Jr. and his newly wed bride Carolyn Bessette Kennedy who shortened the time of their honeymoon in 1996 to visit with Evangelist Billy Graham to discuss the magazine "George" and to interview the evangelist and to seek his wise, spiritual counsel. As Billy Graham himself later recounted after the fatal airplane crash of the couple in 1999: "When John called me that day and asked if I had time to meet with him and his wife, I said yes. What I didn't tell him was that I would have dropped every meeting on my schedule in order to meet with him had it been necessary!" They discussed many things that day in that interview, including marriage and working out problems in marriage, John's late father President Kennedy, and Jesus Christ and His free gift of salvation, and after the crash/death of John and his wife, Billy remarked that he is certain that we will see them again some day. He felt that they were ready to meet the Lord upon death.
      Only Yahshua knows, for certain.

You'd think someone like Billy Graham would know that 1 Thessalonians was written exclusively to the Jews and Greeks in the churches in Acts and no regular Gentiles (like us) were even allowed to be saved, so that prophecy is only for those believers in the first century and it never came to pass while any of them were still "alive and remain" because as a nation, Judah rejected their Messiah and God gave her a final divorce at Acts 28:28-31 KJV. The second coming and the kingdom of Jesus Christ will happen according to the revelation of the mystery in Ephesians 3:9 and Colossians 1:25-26 and it will be joyful and glorious because God has no beef with us like he did with his formerly chosen people!

To be the devil’s advocate, Jackie was of a certain class and she had to choose a husband that would not only match her but surpass her financially. He married her because he knew he had to have a wife in order to run for President. She fulfilled all the criteria: Roman Catholic; American Aristocratic background; attractive; intelligent; and young. Did she love him? Who knows…. She did want a divorce after the still birth of her daughter but Joe Kennedy talked her out of it. Some sources write that he gave her one million dollars to stay married to his son. We also have to put this marriage in its historical context. Many men married in the upper classes had affairs and the women looked the other way. Maybe the women had affairs too. Over the course of their 10 year marriage he did change a little bit as evidenced how he was by her side when their new born son Patrick died hours after his birth in 1963. Reports say Jack cried when their son died. Let us then not forget that a couple of months later Jackie went on a cruise with Aristotle Onassis because her sister invited her. The reason was said to be that Lee wanted to help her sister get over her depression. Jack didn’t want his wife to go on this Mediterranean cruise because the optics were bad for his re-election campaign. So did these two people hurt one another? Probably. Did they grow closer as time went on? I think they bonded over many common interests. But he was a serial cheater with many different women. He could be very cold and mean to Jackie. She wasn’t totally innocent either. She made a marital match based on financial considerations. It wasn’t love for her either. But in the end who really knows what went on behind closed doors? Certainly the Camelot myth was created and perpetuated by Jackie. She didn’t want the public to know the truth.
