after 1923, the video became essentially an incomprehensible jumble, not because of you but because tokyo changed so quickly and so completely so many times over such a span of years that the animation couldnt possibly keep up with the speed of your timescale. pretty insane.
@KorbynTaylor yeah the great Kanto earthquake destroyed the city almost completely in 1923 and then the allied bombings did the same again in 1944-1945. in terms of the sheer amount of death and destruction, the Tokyo firebombings were actually worse than the two atomic bombings. so the city had to completely rebuild in the late 40s, and then grew massively and completely modernized all over again from the 50s-90s. And today Tokyo isn't even a city in the traditional sense so much as a megacity made of dozens of other cities, with even formerly freestanding cities like Yokohama and Chiba now being absorbed in its sprawl.
How about: Paris, France (100BC) Beijing, China (1600BC) Rome, Italy (900BC) San Francisco, California (1700) Toronto, Ontario (1690) Berlin, Germany (1190) Sydney, Australia (1770) Mexico City, Mexico (1200) Washington, DC (1700) Shanghai, China (1600BC) Cairo or Giza, Egypt (3500BC) Athens, Greece (3000BC) Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (1492) Moscow, Russia (1000AD) Chicago, Illinois (1710) St. Louis, Missouri (1750) Osaka, Japan (100AD) Venice, Italy (200AD)
I think for the Chicago history, he will start the evolution in 1779 not 1710 because that is the start of the first settlement of Chicago that was settled by Jean Baptise Du Sable
Man, you are really cool! First it was New York, then London, then Los Angeles and now Tokyo! And in each of the videos the animation is meticulously well done! On top of that you add some brief but necessary year-by-year reviews to give some of the historical facts that marked the city, as well as some very subtle background music to familiarize you with the place you're watching. On a personal note, it would be great to see you make a video in this format about the evolution of my home city, namely Lima (Peru), which also has a great history, from pre-Columbian times with various cultures that settled there, through its colonial history, who founded it as such under the title of “City of the Kings” and in which it enjoyed great splendor and a very beautiful infrastructure, to more contemporary times, which has seen great urban development and migratory waves that have settled in the outskirts. I imagine it will take you quite a while to do it and you already have other jobs pending, but also write down this one I tell you, you will learn many new things for sure! I subscribed a month ago and now I'm already activating the notification bell! Keep up the good work, the effort you put into each animation is appreciated! 👏

I have a feeling I’m the only one thinking this, but I’d love to see the evolution of Chicago for some reason. Ik it’s kinda like a less cool version of New York but I still think it’d be cool to watch an animation of a small prairie town gradually becoming a booming midwestern metropolis
Chicago is cool city for sure! We are listening our community when deciding about new videos. Chicago have been mentioned few times, so we totally see the potential in it! Thank you for the comment! 😊
Yes. I just posted that in another comment. Paris, Rome and Berlin. But before it was Berlin. When it was wild. And do Venice because the story of how it was built on that swamp is such a great lesson in human ingenuity. And Tenochtitlan. Don't forget the bird and snake on the cactus. 😉
Please do Manila next! Seeing a realistic animation of it over the decades, encountering events such as the Spanish Colonization for 400 years to WW2 declaring it into an “Open City” to the Martial law and to the present. I think it would be really cool!
