It was converted to a lighthouse in 1802 and miraculously survived heavy bombing by the allies during WWII, it's still serving as a lighthouse today.

Amazing video! Cool idea to have the history shown, in many Minecraft builds that is a factor people often forget: they want to build something and just build it. Which can make it look artificial, because almost never in real life a build starts of on a blank slate: there are always external factors that dictate the dimensions of a build, which is why old cities often feel quite organic and charmingly chaotic. They have grown, Rome wasn’t build in a day. Ofcourse Minecraft isn’t the real world but remembering that when building a city can make it so much more real, layered and vibrant!
This is a cool video! I watch a lot of countryball history videos, and this video gives a little more detail about what countries might have looked like back then, I might watch more videos like this some other time in the future
awesome to see another European version of this trend, especially for a region with so much history to explore and such distinctive architecture. great video well done :)
This is so cool!, I myself did something similar like this. I have my own little Port town on my Minecraft that was founded in the 1760s but by 1899 my town is a full-on little city with cobble Street stones, stone brick sidewalks with gas lights Victorian/ Edwardian, brick buildings but now in 2024, My city has neighborhoods and a historical districts
It's very realistic, definitely the 1980 to 2025 part. I see a lot of photos from that time where there are parking spaces there and now there is just a park or something
You did a very good job when it comes to being historically accurate with the roman architecture and other details, you dont see that in other videos like these. good job.
@@Crested_Penguin I'd say that's because this was a genuine little passion project, I just love Dutch architecture and history so details like the church's appearance changing over time come naturally. I don't think I'd be able to do one of the same quality of a Spanish city for example because I just don't have the same interest in Spanish architecture or history and haven't spent years studying it and growing up around it.
@@C.A._Old This is kind of a crazy coincidence because I was making a video exactly like that but in Source Filmmaker almost a year ago. I eventually lost motivation for it because it took too long, maybe some day I'll remake it in Minecraft.
Very cool! Suggestion if you ever make a second version: You could make a 1800 one with French flags waving in the street. Also neoclassicism was a hot architecture style those days, so you could remake the Roman temple, but now as a 18th/19th century building (example is the City Hall of Groningen).
@@knaagdier Id like to see Florida through the years. Just take a look at the history of South Florida, that area has changed SO much through the years... especially Miami/Ft. Lauderdale (things definitely didn't change as much up here in the panhandle, which is my neck of the woods)
I think i used the teleport command to teleport me to the exact spot and then you can also enter a value for the direction you want to face. I made this video 9 months ago so im not sure what the exact command was.
This is actually such a cool way to show how a place changes over time
Yeeeeah!!
You are right
It reminds me of that lego animation.
that church stayed strong for centuries
I am from the Netherlands the church in my town was built in the 900s (even do it has been renovated and expanded throughout the years)

Geweldig! Bravo! Die C1000 was wel leuke toevoeging!
I love how in 1980 there's C1000 (a Dutch supermarket chain) but in 2025 it no longer exists 😂😂
A relic of another age… There is a C1000 museum btw, it’s very cool.
Big fan of this video, especially the sounds from RDR2
That little house next to the crossroad survived a thousand years.
very creative video, nice work, i like that you demonstrated a combination of different dutch cities in this video
there the shipyard and Saint Denis rdr2 ambient sound 💀

It's gonna come even quicker considering the party that just won the election 😭😭
