The 3D Fish Models on land was nightmare fuel I didn't need. 🤣🤣 I was waiting anxiously for another AC Boundary Break, and this video just made my day! ✨️ Edit: I can't spell and also the giant bugs are even further nightmare fuel. XD
This was awesome! All of the villagers are fully modelled underneath their clothing, primarily due to the player having the ability to make them wear any outfit they choose (clothing types come in different sized), however for all of the special NPCs (minus tom nook, nook twins, isabelle, K.K. Slider), almost all of the NPCs do not have a full model. Their clothing is actually part of the model, whereas for the few NPCs and all villagers, their clothing consists of a separate model that is layered on top of their model. Also, kinda related, did you know that all 3 hedgehog siblings have unique models and they are not just recoloured versions of the same model?
agreed! would love to see the actual entity models compared to the model items you can get from flick. would also love the same with fish, but that would require catching all of them which sounds time consuming
Oh damn this is PERFECT timing. I was secretly hoping this would come out one day, the overworld zoom section and showing how the culling works is gonna be amazing for understanding how best to reduce lag on decorated islands.
A video of nothing but showcasing big bugs would be an incredible watch! I'd like to see as many of them as possible, there's so much detail unseen from the in-game scale and camera!
Buildings are modeled on the back because of the fence building mode and camera mode in game which does 90 degree vertical view that you can see the backs of buildings from.
Such a pleasure to help out with this episode! You were an amazing person to work with, and this episode is AWESOME!!!! :D Great job on your finds! :) Thank you Shesez! :D
Fish Silhouette are two words I never knew belonged together. There are some really nice finds in this episode. It is surprising that you are still making discoveries in Animal Crossing. The devs dialed up the culling slider to 11.
I have the Hallmark ornament of him and they're on it. It's so cute and I totally didn't expect it. Had no idea it was actually part of the in-game model as well!
🤦 You CAN see. They are clearly visible every time the camera spins during a song. Have you people never actually played Animal Crossing???? Most of the "secrets" in this video are plainly visible in the game. And some of his claims about the game (what you can/can't see in standard game play, the "only" claims, etc.) are factually incorrect. Anyone who plays the game would instantly know the nonsense in what the guy is saying.
i’d absolutely love to see a zoom out of the transition from a cylindrical island to a flat island, because sometimes i play around with my camera angle in game and can see everything unfold
I've noticed that the game doesn't flatten the world when moving the camera angle upwards, interestingly enough. However, using the mailbox does flatten the world! This is likely because they use different camera modes for these events. When you're outdoors, the orientation of the camera controlled by the right analog stick is all the same mode, the int for it is the same. But, for example opening the mailbox uses a different mode! :) I may be wrong about this, though as not much research into these different modes has been made yet. I plan to document it in further detail at some point.
This makes me want the next animal crossing game to have full 3D camera control. That bit at the end where you were walking towards the beach with the camera facing towards the beach was so cool!
@@abbie3702 I mean there were some mechanics I didnt care for in NH but I thought its was still a step further in terms of being able to do more things you couldn't in past games.
A little disappointed you didn't do the giant models thing at the museum. That would've been a quick and easy way to show off the detail on the fish, bugs, and possibly fossils but I doubt that'll work unless you can supersize furniture (which is an ENORMOUS can of worms to open lmao). Love seeing all the little details and dev tricks on display, this is a very cleverly built game!
Yeah, my hack allows you to change the size of all furniture too lol. :p Essentially what you see is what you get, when it comes to fish. They made it much easier to get a closer look at them, in comparison to the bugs.
The change-room reminds me of the one in Zelda: Tri Force Heroes. Its animation works almost exactly the same, except Link drops down into the floor and pops back up, instead of the back wall.
thank you for those zoomouts of the bug exhibits in the museum. they look stunningly beautiful, and it was such a treat to be able to see the entire open greenhouse garden area in full. y'know, it's hardly your type of content, but it would be stellarly sweet if somehow we could somehow have a 1-hr video wallpaper (or 24hr, for ACNH? heh...) of some of the best-looking boundary break zones like 11:47 and such. would be quite relaxing.
There's a channel called ASMR in Games, which specializes in just that kind of thing: relaxing 1-hour videos of nice scenery from video games, with some ambient sound. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they've done any Animal Crossing stuff yet.
5:49 "I'm not sure what those items are supposed to be..." Those are a kelp leaf (on the left) and a cucumber (on the right). Those are heavily associated with Kappas in Japanese mythology. Hope that helps!

loved this, very well done (they always are but still felt like saying it lol). animal crossing is definitely up there for games that i desperately feel compelled to know what's beyond the boundaries because of how aggressively limited the view is
Being able to tilt the nook phone camera left or right for angle shots is what made me realize the maple trees weren't modeled all the way around for their leaves
Could you do DOOM 3 boundary break? I would love to see everything! It looks like there would be a lot of interesting stuff in it. Also please release a full video showing all the footage separately if you can.
It's strange that you'd bring this up on a video featuring an Animal Crossing game that has Isabelle in it. What does that have to do with Doom, of all games? ;)
The reason the buildings are fully modeled is actually because in a very specific scenario in game you can see them. If you pull out the fence and build a fence right along the back of one, the camera will tilt vertically so you can see from a top down angle and know where you're putting the fence. From this angle, you can see a bit of the back of the building. This is why the houses roofs don't anyways match because from this angle, you can't tell. It's almost the same angle as the plane flyover animation but much closer and even slightly steeper.
That ''missing texture'' on the trees is actually just for when you cut one of those trees down that chipped part is there. So, technically the tree trunk and the tree top are just two parts that make up the tree.
This video singlehandedly made me grab my Switch and start Animal Crossing again after a long time. Sad that the algorith keeps messing up the views, but you did an amazing job!
I think I still have a clip I made way back around the time ACNH came out where I caught like 4 or 500 man-face stinkbugs, and it slowed the game down so much as I ran past them that the item culling was visible within the camera frame.
The Kappn drawing at 5:54 has a cucumber in the bottom right! That's because Kappn is a Kappa, a Japanese Yokai that lives in rivers and loves cucumbers!
This was a nice video. I'm glad you took your time with the zoomouts and the showing off in this one and didn't rush through like in some older videos. I'd rather the videos are longer and I get more time to see things than that they're flown through.

I know the Rolling Log aesthetic is iconic, but this really makes me want an Animal Crossing with a free camera, even if it means dropping the rolling log look. I've always thought the locked camera angle was really limiting.
This was a lot of fun, been taking a break from the game so maybe I'll use it as inspiration for to keep going with the renovation process until I make a dream island..!
You could see the whole Cappa family over on the island in the New Leaf game for 3DS as well. And the drawing there also looks a bit like that hut. But it HAS been a while since I busted out my 3DS, and I don't quite remember whether those red dots are on that version of the hut, or not. In other words, I'm not actually correcting you, I'm just saying it could be (E)ither e(I)ther. PS: Yes, "Either - eIther" IS actually a way of saying things, back where I grew up. It was used almost as much as "could be either one of these two things," and was occasionally used to say something could even be both things. In this case It could be either the Game Cube island or the New Leaf island... Or maybe the 3DS island was completely based off the Game Cube one, and therefore this drawing refers to both of them.
About the drawing in Kapp'n's boat: I think it shows a cucumber on the right, a kappa's favorite food. On the left could be some writing from Kapp'n's daughter Leila.
