I am a 71 year old Mexican and in 1970 this song reached Mexico City with the other music of the 60's and 70's like the Beatles, John Denver, The Byrds, and though I didn't know the words, it touched my spirit. I heard this song recently and could understand the lyrics. It brought the tears to my eyes. Now that I am a grandfather, this song resonates deeply in my heart. Graham Nash's lyrics had the wisdom of a much older man.
Kind of the opposite happened to me. I’m a Canadian from Vancouver and back in the 90s I was in Cozumel in a restaurant when a Mariachi band came in and started playing in front of my table. It was all older guys except the singer was this little kid. Im telling ya, this band played so beautifully I couldn’t believe it, however I knew zero Spanish. I actually started tearing up and couldn’t understand why. Nothing makes me cry. I started learning Spanish and although not perfectly, enough to basically understand and speak. Now that I know so many of the Mexican standards, to this day I wonder what that song was that they played that got to me like that.
I got married at 16 in 1970! Husband left 2 weeks later for Basic Training and then in December, left for Viet Nam! The music during that time takes me back! Will never forget!
I truly believe there will never be another generation of music to compare with the 60/70s. Let us hope that it is being carefully preserved for those who knew and loved it
Well ... that actually is a very sad idea. Better think and believe that there will always be a generation that feeds on the ideas and ideals of the one before it and feeds upon their dreams, creating something even more beautiful to be known by.
You’d like the internet would allow people to find the better music of today. But the algorithms keep suggesting superficial music from superficial key word searches. Knock and you shall find. Search and you shall receive. Be careful what you search for.

I see a lot of Boomer bashing, I guess it's natural, something about Boomers having an easier time than they do. Ok, so just listen to the music that came out of this era and tell me again how we had it so easy. RIP David Crosby.

I’m 74 & feel so lucky to have lived through such amazing times, been a rocker, a mod & a hippie. We have had the most talented singers, songwriters, musicians & poets. I know so many young people who say i wish i had been around in the 60’s. Anyway my point is, that’s a timeless song & sang with such beautiful harmonies & yes still relevant today. It’s only Rock n Roll but don’t we just love it!
Wow man, I haven't heard anyone use the word Mod since I was in my freshman year of High School! Sounds like we have pasts in common. Totally agree with your point (man)
Kids are bratty, goatish unruly children. I’m the tenth of twelve, born at home 11/25/1950. This year it’s Thanksgiving Day. Give thanks to the Lord for He is good; His love is everlasting. Six of us made it through Vietnam. 58,479 brothers and sisters did not; May they Rest In Peace….
I too was blessed to have grown up in the late 60's and 70's. Blessed to have had such great artists and music. I wish people would heed this song in these current turbulent times....teach your children well, people.
1972. I was 10 years old. Me and my 3 siblings sang this song at my my moms and adoptive fathers wedding. My sister played the guitar… not a dry in the place. Thank you David, may you sing & fly with the angels… say hi to my and dad ♥️
So sad…. Listening to this group brings back happy childhood memories as I listened to their songs. Thank you for your beautiful music. RIP Mr Crosby. May you be in the loving arms of Jesus Christ

Rest In Heavenly Peace David Crosby 1-17-23 81 yrs young Wow, What Great Musician and Writer Great Songs my fave of his songs was always "Teach Your Children Well " and Turn Turn & Tambourine Man with Bob Dylan The Byrds "
It must be a true compliment to artists when thousands and thousands of people can sing the lyrics to your songs back at you, after years of those songs first being sung.
Best version I ever experienced of this beautiful song was sung by my son and his whole 3rd grade class. He's 50 now, but I'll always remember his face and the earnestness with which he sang it! [weeping again! then and now]
Yes, it was such an amazing time to be alive. Each epoch had a different feel. It was pure and innocent during Camelot, but immediately after Kennedy was shot it was a different feel. I remember sitting in the car, listening to the radio, wondering if the night sky would turn intensely white with missiles launched from Cuba. The 70's were a time of exploration (space race, local adventures, building, and flying giant cardboard gliders, and (of course) girls). Each decade had a different feel, and kids today will never know what it was like if they didn't live through it. So sad for them. "Dad, were you in a rock band?" "It was the 60's... we were ALL in a band!" (The Zendicks, 1967).
Crosby, Stills Nash & Young.... The best of the best, loved seeing them numerous times at Bill Graham's summer concerts. Day on the Green St the Oakland Colosseum in Oakland, California.
The night my so-called “best friend” and room mate deserted me for being pregnant, and unmarried, i was alone in what WAS OUR APARTMENT, sitting on the bare small living room floor, playing James Taylor’s “Mudslide Slim” album…feeling lonely, and hearing him sing this special song….thank you, James…you got me through a hard time…❤😊🎶….
This song has always been so meaningful, since the first time I heard it, more than 50 years ago. It was at a big anti-war rally in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park in November 1969. CSN&Y, who had just finished recording the Deja Vu album (which wouldn't be released for another 4 months, so nobody knew this song) sang for a crowd of a quarter million people, and the song was deeply touching to most of us. I learned to play and sing the song, and years later sang it many times for (and with) my children, who are now in their 30's. "Can you see you must be free to teach your children what you believe in; make a world that we can live in." Not an easy task, but we're still trying.
Vietnam brought such sorrow and confusion in an already troubled world. Yet for many it brought us beautiful songs that bonded us together for peace and love.🙏💕

My sons (ages 23 and 27) are now building a professional music career and performed this song last wekend at an uplifting gathering centered on raising healthy and spiritually nuturing families. Not a dry eye in the house. They have been hearing and playing this type of music since ages 9 and 12 and before the pandemic we were so blessed to see CSN at an outdoor venue in San Diego (Humphrey's on the Bay). This message of the continuity and covenant between generations has brought us so much joy.
What people don't realize the 60s and 70s those musicians could play a multitude of instruments equally well they'll never be another era in music like there was in the 60s and seventies and that goes for country too
The Words lyrics have so much meaning to them. And I honestly believe that just about every song they wrote had so much meaning to them. They wrote about the times they wrote about things that mattered. Especially when you think about four dead in Ohio. And anyone knows about that song knows about the shootings on the campus Purdue University in Ohio. I grew up there and remember well period was very sad and they depicted it perfectly.
At Woodstock, it was CCN&Y. The contributions of Neil Young to this group's popularity and success must not be minimized or discounted. Neil was the completeness, the glue, who made this group great.
Hey,👋 It's terrific to hear the music I grew up on. You girls are great 👍. Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young are the best band ever. I'm 70 and I had the chance to see them live at Woodstock. It was great!
Nostalgy... Youth sentiment... In Summer 1970 when start working my first job this was my first album (long play record) I bought, attracted by special cover design. But also the beautiful harmony songs, like "Teach your children" with Jerry Garcia on pedalsteelguitar. In 2024 still enjoying CSN&Y. Chapeau !!!
My dad used to play this as a lullaby to me and my brother. Years later I learned to play it, and do so when I'm feeling depressed. One of the best songs I've heard and maybe ever will. R.I.P. David Crosby
Exceptional Talent, Love the words of this prophetic song by Graham Nash! God Bless them for their 'Harmonic Wonders' of the songs they gave to us that will endure forever! RIP David Crosby, thanks for sharing your Musical Gifts from God.
Always my favorites. I finally saw them in concert about 15 years ago. They sounded EXACTLY like the record i had worn out listening to. Still think their music is soo relevant and inspiring.
This song touches my heart even tho I was to young to notice when it first came out, I first heard it in the late 70’s. Even so it touched me then and it still touches me today. Such a awesome piece of work. I l have loved CS&N ever since I first heard them in late 70’s. Never made a bad tune. Rest easy David 🕊🙏🎸🕊🙏🎸🕊🙏🎸🕊🙏🎸🕊🙏🎸🕊🙏🎸
I have the Woodstock and Woodstock 2 albums. On the Woodstock album, I believe, they said that was the first time they ever played before a live audience.
Sometimes in life when the stars align amazing things happen! The stars were definitely aligned, literally and figuratively when CSN came together! Thank you for all the great music. RIP DAVID CROSBY.
At my age I sing “And so please help US with your youth WE seek the truth Before WE can die. Don’t you ever ask us why IF we told you you would cry So just look at us and sigh And you know WE love you.” Because, folks - WE are now “your parents”. My buddy Jim and I sang this. One of my favorite CSN songs, awesome guitar job by Stills, awesome song written by Graham Nash.
@@douglashall2141 I thought it was Kent State in Ohio.
@@eval.sturchio2351 It was.
All most cut my hair ..no just kidding I did cut my from the 60s and 70s
If only the world could live by the values in this song. How many years must we pray for peace and safe lives for our kids
fishsupper1263 Sadly I think until the world stops turning.
All you have to do is listen to the lyrics to understand , one of the most important songs ever written !!!
Maybe the greatest Supergroup that stayed together long enough to give us such a library! THANK YOU CSN and Neil too!
Neil who? lol
At Woodstock, it was CCN&Y. The contributions of Neil Young to this group's popularity and success must not be minimized or discounted. Neil was the completeness, the glue, who made this group great.
Love this song and Almost cut my hair during their stint at Woodstock 1 ❤
I wouldn't change those years for nothing, it was so, so special
What a song. RIP David. So fortunate to live in the same time as these guys.
Very sad news to hear of the passing of David Crosby , a unique talent..RIP
Wonderful song and so relevant to today. We all need to take a step back and re-evaluate what we strive for.
Great song....51 yrs later- first time i ever really listened to the words.
Awesome time to be alive, music and concerts is what a teenager lived for, or maybe it was just me.
Todd Holderman No there was another Me.
The Golden Era of meaningful, entertaining and educating music...
My old friend Bob Ingram is in heaven with his tambourine singing with all of them. God bless him., I’m glad he’s not here to see all this hate.✌️💙😃
Hey,👋 It's terrific to hear the music I grew up on. You girls are great 👍. Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young are the best band ever. I'm 70 and I had the chance to see them live at Woodstock. It was great!
Nostalgy... Youth sentiment...
In Summer 1970 when start
working my first job this was my first album (long play record) I bought, attracted by special cover design.
The way they sing together, the combination of their voices is so great. It is otherworldly.
Exceptional Talent, Love the words of this prophetic song by Graham Nash! God Bless them for their 'Harmonic Wonders' of the songs they gave to us that will endure forever! RIP David Crosby, thanks for sharing your Musical Gifts from God.
Many mornings have broken since I first heard this amazing song.
Three men, each with an acoustic guitar, and their own talent and dedication. This is what today's music just can't match.
I'm so sad. Rest in peace David. Thanks for the great music. Saw you in 1976.
Always my favorites. I finally saw them in concert about 15 years ago. They sounded EXACTLY like the record i had worn out listening to. Still think their music is soo relevant and inspiring.
Hello dear,how are you doing?
This song touches my heart even tho I was to young to notice when it first came out, I first heard it in the late 70’s. Even so it touched me then and it still touches me today. Such a awesome piece of work. I l have loved CS&N ever since I first heard them in late 70’s. Never made a bad tune. Rest easy David 🕊🙏🎸🕊🙏🎸🕊🙏🎸🕊🙏🎸🕊🙏🎸🕊🙏🎸
This goes beyond music. This is pure magic. No one writes like this anymore. Shame.
It was a classic when I was singing it at 18 im 62 and it could b a new hit always loved this
Each year the number of great singers are diminishing, thank you for your music and for being a part of my childhood. RIP
My mom,God bless her loved this song! I had the 45 & so that Christmas I brought her the album of Crosby,Stills,Nash! She loved it!! Joyce Carr
Hello dear,how are you doing?
I agree as relevant today as it was back in the 70's. One of my favorite songs. I haven't heard it in a while.
This was one of my first albums to ever buy as a young teen. This is still as good today as back then
yes
I have the Woodstock and Woodstock 2 albums. On the Woodstock album, I believe, they said that was the first time they ever played before a live audience.
Yes
My soulmate always played this on the jute box .I'm glad I can listen to it again

Written by Graham Nash
Sometimes in life when the stars align amazing things happen! The stars were definitely aligned, literally and figuratively when CSN came together! Thank you for all the great music. RIP DAVID CROSBY.
At my age I sing “And so please help US with your youth WE seek the truth Before WE can die. Don’t you ever ask us why IF we told you you would cry So just look at us and sigh And you know WE love you.” Because, folks - WE are now “your parents”.
My buddy Jim and I sang this. He passed a few years back. The world is just a little emptier. I miss you, my brother.
I'm sorry for your loss. My best friend is dying of cancer right now. Hard time to go through. I send you my best wishes!

Stephen Stills was so gorgeous here!!! Magical guitarist, as usual, and also had a great voice!!!
@Karen Thank you for the cheers and incredible love. How are you today?
I'm 60 years old and I feel like I'm still surfing those waves to this day. Thank you very much CSN and Y too you guys are great. Greetings from Rio.
Great music from great times. So honored to be a part of it! Lucky we have sound recorders to record all of t!
The music from the 60's & 70's is all recorded! Thank GOD! This is all I listen to every day! What kind of day would
it be without a Beatles song???? I couldn't name you any of todays songs or performers. Mostly garbage... like hip-hop
and horrible sounding country and rock songs...
Just burst into emotional tears as the video shifted toward the end to a live performance before a MASSIVE audience who sang the chorus together....so beautiful.....such an optomistic time....We really DID think we could change the World for the better and see PEACE in our lifetimes!! Thank you for this wonderful video. If you've not seen the fabulous documentary "David Crosby, Remember My Name" you must see it. You will laugh AND cry.....brilliantly created by a friend's talented son ❣ ☺😌❤
This song was sooo big when I was in High School...Rest in Power David Crosby.
Loooove you sooo much guys ❤ you always ease my pain 😢❤ 1:38
