I've never seen this live version before, I'm speechless and just wowed from his performance. I grew up in the 80s listening to Dolby's music on college radio, he was the boy genius, I think he was 25 yrs old when he wrote the album...so many great songs on that album.
What’s the most interesting thing that he’s doing is all the different music changes within the song he has in his head gives a whole new meaning to one man band brilliant!
Ahhhh..... classic 80's song! The best decade for music, such a diversity of great artists. This song brings back such great memories of fun times dancing at the clubs.
One of my all time favorite songs…. I listen to the extended version quite often to this day. My first time seeing this live rendition by Dolby and it was amazing!
I don't think so. You can tell from this enjoyable performance he still delivers it as honestly - as if it were the first time... no forced feeling about it at all. Just flows and consumes the audience :)
Tom really fell on his feet in the US,. He even got back to me once when I mentioned that the lyrics, she looks at her iPhone,. was unnecessary. He replied something can't remember now but, the golden age of wireless kind of spoke volumes if you know what I mean.. cheers Tom. Thanks for the memories.
I remember this one very much when I was still in elementary school back in 1982!!! I sill very in love with that sound!!! electronica!!! I love music of all kinds!!!
After discovering this clip Ive been watching it and more of Mr.Dolbys work, This is better than the first time around! It's nice to find something you can dig when your an old fart like me.
When I first heard this on the radio it sort of frightened me. If I had heard it with the video I would have been mesmerized, wanting to see it again over and over
This is great! I've seen some others of him live doing this and other songs and he is programming each one while entertaining the crowd. Pretty cool guy.:)
This song was genius, unique and is still awesome. Murray Head's 'Bangkok' had that uniqueness as well. Musically at least, creativity seems to have peaked in the 80s/90s
The sound jumps out how great it is! Wow! I’m surprised he doesn’t work for Dolby Labs or is related to them because his music sounds so good! Brilliant song!
I love how he's trying to sing in a higher pitch, that he had when he originally recorded the song, but just can't. I think it would be fine if he had sung it in his deeper voice. Still very talented regardless.
I don't care what decade you grew up in, this is good shit!
As someone born in the 90s I agree wholeheartedly.
you bet
I was born in the 2000's and I agree
@@Webshooters1 Remember seeing MTV'S very first video, "Video Killed the Radio Star ".
Popmusic as is´s best!.-)
Amazing that this whole song can be reproduced on such little kit now
I know! I’d hear it back in 1983 and thought there was this HUGE orchestra! Haha!
Well, many of the keys are pre-recorded snippets. Dolby is functioning as a musician and a DJ at the same time.
Professor Pike will live forever in his song!
You should read Thomas Dolby's autobiography. Apparently he wasn't too pleased it was all he was remembered for.
"As a known scientist it just surprised him that the girl blinded him with science".:)
his voice been catched into that little box forever xD
