@@Freiya2011 well, when you're really a fan of someone you'll never think they're not as good as you think they are, let alone you're better than them. Seeing them both singing, I don't really see the appeal for him, because his voice is kind of "flat", as you said. But that might be 'cause I grew up listening to Amy, not him.
Amy Winehouse was a once in a life time voice. It broke my heart when she died and all that talent was silenced. I doubt if I will live long enough to hear that kind of voice again?

+Ping Pong well aren't you just full of rainbows and sunshine. The people who were supposed to be there for her, to help her, failed her miserably. No one *wants* to be addicted to a substance. No one *wants* to be an addict. She needed her management, her parents to do what was right for her, not what brought the most money to their pockets.
This was Amy's last recording. When Tony tells the story he chokes up. This woman was a gift from the gods...a voice that was as pure blues as any female voice that ever dared to venture into that special world...heartbreaking to think of what we lost, what might have been.
If that's true, then it's kind of 'poetic' that the last note of her entire recorded repertoire was a major 2nd dissonance over a tonic chord, (with none other then Tony Bennett himself holding that tonic!). You can't teach a person to make those kinds of musical decisions, they have to just... feel it and know how to express it. I also love Tony's reaction and how he so effortlessly goes with it. A less experienced singer might have assumed it was a mistake, and stopped singing.

This is the greatest duet with Tony... ever. It was told that only two weeks before she died, Tony tried to contact her to warn her to get off of drugs before it killed her as it did to his other friends, like Billie Holiday and Dinah Washington. He regrettably never got the chance. RIP, Amy Winehouse.

I will always love you, Amy Winehouse. I was lost in the darkness of depression and alcoholism, and it was your passing that pulled me out of the void. I’m starting singing lessons soon and while I’ll never have your natural talent, I’ll always say a little prayer for you before I practice. Love from a fellow Virgo.
Girl had the pipes. I’m very lucky to be part of the generation that loved her and still does. She is gone but damn she was a gift. And keeps on giving. Love you baby girl
There are millions of us still playing this kind of timeless music. We were born in the right decades... we have every great work of jazz at our fingertips. There is so much incredible music being composed right now :)
Her voice is so rounded in quality it’s a rich sound but she knows exactly how to control it and she really puts her emotions in there too what a talent we have lost
The amazing thing about Tony is his humility and his desire to share his talent and artistry with others. Not in a egotistical sense. But in the sheer joy of creating musical magic!
Taylor TLAT Check out "Sloan Bella" on TH-cam. She just channeled Amy(September 23, 2019) and expresses your sentiment exactly. Yet, you wrote and felt it five months beforehand. Very cool!💗😎💗
Amy spends the entire performance in awe of Tony, she is a fan girl the entire time and yet her voice sounds every bit as good as his. She doesn't feel like she is worthy to sing with a legend like him and yet she is a legend in her own right and if they are still singing together in heaven then that's a place i want to be
1:10 Amy kissed her cross thanking God for the blessing of singing with one of the GREATS!! Such a timeless piece of music right here!! This should have BILLIONS OF VIEWS!!!
Singing with Tony Bennett is like having your Dad marry you to Jazz. I have no doubt that this was one of the most self-affirming moments in this artist's life. Tony Bennett is an angel.
I have listened to Tony Bennett singing with many others--but I have to say him singing with Amy is nothing les then out standing. Her voice and his together is absolutely-amazing. What a loss of someone such as Amy. Now I understand how he felt about her singing.
I don't think anyone really understood the gravity of losing Amy at the time. They knew she was talented, but they didn't really know how talented. It's only been 9 years but in that time I've come to realize how Amy was arguably the most talented musician of the 21st century. A true legend the likes of which you can never again find once they're gone.
Tears are in my eyes. I first heard this song while browsing one afternoon in a local Barnes & Noble bookstore a little over 10 years ago. It moved me so much that I had to fight back tears.
Amy's part gives me the chills every single time. That power of making it differently every single time, make it more magical. You feel it and. Period.
it makes me so sad, deeply sad to just think how such a gem went away so early !!! I do not think she ever knew how MARVELOUS and Extraordinary singer she was!
Amy was not only beautiful but a beautiful mixed up soul as well! Her voice was described as a old school Jazz singer and that is spot on! Amy would have been perfect back in the 1950s and 60s and even earlier! God bless her soul!

Two MASTERFUL voices!! They may not be walking the earth anymore, but their music is timeless and will live on forever. Surely they are singing somewhere together right now!!! REST IN PEACE AMY AND TONY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
❤
The way she thanked God @1:00 mark...so grateful to hit those high notes the way she wanted. What a humble person.
This gave me genuine chills. And the look in her face….rest in peace Amy.
Me too, can't explain with simples words, only must feel.
What
😭
Me too. There are some songs that can put chills on you just by thinking of them. Truly beautiful!
So, so, sorry she's gone4😥
The chemistry is outstanding. Amy's voice is incredible.
amazing, coming from 80s music type of person
There isn’t nearly close to enough music from Amy Winehouse before she died. What a great duet…. ❤
We sees her as the wonderful Jazzvocalist she was,in the Award Winning Documentary Amy. JazzyT.
" legends both. " iconic voices " ( such a treat ✨️
I'm crying. So beautiful. So lucky to have these recordings
This is the greatest duet with Tony... ever. It was told that only two weeks before she died, Tony tried to contact her to warn her to get off of drugs before it killed her as it did to his other friends, like Billie Holiday and Dinah Washington. He regrettably never got the chance. RIP, Amy Winehouse.
why didn't he do it at that moment then??? Poor amy and god bless tony
he is a mentor to lady gaga as well. But she seems stronger than amy when it comes to handling the media ad preassure
@@melisagalvalizi6982
Lady Gaga used Madonna as her role model. Amy had no such mentor.
@@tiffsaver madonna may have been a creative inspirtation, but tony is a father figure to gaga, she said it
@@melisagalvalizi6982
Having a great father is one thing, but if it weren't for Madonna, there'd be no Gaga, period.
She was so honored to sing with him. Love you dear Amy
I think Tony Bennet too was honoured to sing with a caliber voice to compliment his!
I'm very pleased to know I am not the only one that loves 😍the song, but when last did you play it?
I'm glad she got to do this duet with him 😢. Rest in peace both of them ♥️
As soon as Amy started singing I broke down in tears, I wish during these hard times, we could just have one more album.
So true Rudy .
Same, she was so excited to do this, her dad loved Tony so
Same:(
She was second Willy holidays
Honey you were not alone, I did the same thing.
She will always be one of the jazz queens.
i miss her terribly. it hurt so much to know that we will never hear new songs from her anymore.
i love you Amy.
🙏
me too..........
Frank sinatra
Andrea Garbati we will but any new songs. Sad beautiful talent.
You can see her true lovely soul.
They can sing together for ever in heavens now!!We were lucky to have heard their unique duet !!R.I.P, Tony.Give our love to Amy ❤.We already miss both of you.😢
Same!😢
Iconic.
Omg Charlotte hi
One of the first times I agree with that statement lol
Very much body and soul
One word description is all that’s needed
Shes totally in her element here shes gorgeous
I will always love you, Amy Winehouse. I was lost in the darkness of depression and alcoholism, and it was your passing that pulled me out of the void. I’m starting singing lessons soon and while I’ll never have your natural talent, I’ll always say a little prayer for you before I practice. Love from a fellow Virgo.
I love how an icon like Tony Bennett saw Amy as a true jazz artist other than what the media portrayed her as
Because she was a true jazz artist.
@@monicagrorud2225one of the very best imo 👌
I'm sure the world is not aware of how massively epic is this duet...it is a huge loss not to have an entire duet album between these two voices...
True!
The most intense and beautiful of all his duets ever 🤩
The kiss of her necklace knowing her Nan would be so proud of this moment for her
She looks at once charmed and yet pained and sorrowing.
All for feeling of being ...Loved.
True blue 💔🙏🥀
Girl had the pipes. I’m very lucky to be part of the generation that loved her and still does. She is gone but damn she was a gift. And keeps on giving. Love you baby girl
Tony's best duet. He and Amy are pure magic.
She was born in the wrong decade. Her voice creates a 1930s and 40s Jazz aura that is one of a kind and timeless.
There are millions of us still playing this kind of timeless music. We were born in the right decades... we have every great work of jazz at our fingertips. There is so much incredible music being composed right now :)
Have you heard Billy Holiday sing "God Bless the Child who has their Own"(?) ?
Maybe she would have survived that age. The drugs weren't as hard or quite as ubiquitous.
@@theobserver9131 The drugs were as hard & quite as ubiquitous you silly child. You will grow up eventually
Not really. Sometimes we need reminders of great eras and Amy appears to remind us.
My heart is breaking. Thank you, Mr. Bennett, for working with her and preserving this.
41 years ago today, God patted himself/herself on the back for creating you. Happy birthday, Amy.❤
Amy made it look effortless, she really had a golden voice.
It's way too sad to think this was her last recording.
She still had a lot to give.
She had some takes actually. She was so nervous and felt like she didn't deserve to sing with him. She's too pure..
Her voice is so rounded in quality it’s a rich sound but she knows exactly how to control it and she really puts her emotions in there too what a talent we have lost
@@johnyboy19685 tragic really. so glad to hear her in this life.
"Perfection" 2 of d best. ❤️❤️
Tony was wild about her talent and he spoke so incredibly high of her...
The amazing thing about Tony is his humility and his desire to share his talent and artistry with others. Not in a egotistical sense. But in the sheer joy of creating musical magic!
Triple R2017 experience must be shared
Experience must be shared
She had her on finesse great on par with Ella Fitzgerald
he is a class act for sure
YES!
Who else misses Amy terribly... :(
+hunter schurmann I'm still crying for her.
+hunter schurmann so very much : - (
me,l wish she was here
I terribly miss her , tears are running down :(
l see she was legend and has no similar one
Amy did such a jazzy vibe for this. I felt like someone in a Smokey jazz club in the 1930s.
Taylor TLAT
Check out "Sloan Bella"
on TH-cam.
She just channeled Amy(September 23, 2019)
and expresses your sentiment
exactly. Yet, you wrote and felt it five months beforehand.
Very cool!💗😎💗
Because its a Jazz standard...
Yes I was thinking the same thing...It had the old jazzy vintage 30s quality to it that we don't see anymore.
Le jazz hot would be the 20s, but no matter..
Yup
Amy spends the entire performance in awe of Tony, she is a fan girl the entire time and yet her voice sounds every bit as good as his. She doesn't feel like she is worthy to sing with a legend like him and yet she is a legend in her own right and if they are still singing together in heaven then that's a place i want to be
She looks so giddy and in total awe of him! They are both such great talents! What an amazing duet!
12 years without Amy Winehouse❤️❤️
September 14th 1983 - July 23rd 2011
Rest In Peace Amy❤️
I love Tony Bennett so much. He is the ultimate gentleman. He also has a heart of gold. I'm happy that Amy got to sing with him. She was so amazing.
1:10 Amy kissed her cross thanking God for the blessing of singing with one of the GREATS!!
Such a timeless piece of music right here!!
This should have BILLIONS OF VIEWS!!!
Star of David
- Star of David
- Her nan
Yes..
Not a cross... a Maguen David...
She was jewish but whatever 🤣
Two legends now gone up to heaven.
RIP TONY BENNETT AND AMY WINEHOUSE.
This is my favorite Tony Bennett duet -- just pure bliss and perfect harmony.
So touching - the gentle presence of Tony Bennett puts a nervous Amy at ease and let's her shine......that hug at the end so sweet !!
Always loved this song
I'm very pleased to know I am not the only one that loves the song, but when last did you play it?
She looks so beautiful here and her voice one of the best voices in the industry so sad she’s isn’t here anymore you’re a legend Amy
Now Amy and Tony are singing together in heaven!
One of the nicest duets ever recorded. Amy truly had one of the most soulful voices which unfortunately was silenced too soon because of addiction.
A true legend the likes of which you can never again find once they're gone.
yup. damn
Amy and Tony beautiful forever.
Period.
She was so natural she didn't even have to try hard, so sad she died
Yes, it was an epic pairing of voices and generations.
Tony Bennett and Amy Winehouse, were truly magic, and the knew it.
Incredible!!!
Two great singers now singing in heaven. What a wonderful performance !
When she said "It's Tony Bennett Dad!!" I cried
Yes! My heart broke in that moment. 💔
+ssierrasanbornn when did she say that
+Avital Perez In the documentary, worth the watch.
Karina C. Ok i'll watch thx !
Avital Perez It came out in 2015 I believe, It's called Amy :)
it makes me so sad, deeply sad to just think how such a gem went away so early !!!
