I agree. After Iron Maiden, Queensryche is the second tightest group I have heard. The only knock being is that when DeGarmo left, their song writing went flat, and in their efforts to continually remain a relevant band, they kept trying to reinvent their sound. Only my opinion, but I think they should have kept on trying to better their efforts on Mindcrime, instead of continually changing their sound.
This album & Mind Crime are telling us about what lies ahead...the Luciferian NWO. There is even a thinly veiled Vampire reference. Chemical Youth is about the chemical sedation & castration of today's youth

What a great band...Geoff tate's voice is second to none.best range I've ever heard.unfortunatley, The queensryche of today isn't even a shadow of what it was...what a shame.todd la torre is not any kind of a replacement for geoff
If someone offered me only one ride in time machine I would transport myself through through space and time back at this concert. This is Queensryche at their best! Magnificent...
Once in a while I gotta revisit these old QR tracks from back in the day to remind myself of how freaking good they were back then. GT was untouchable!
Hands down my favorite band in the late 80's and early 90's. I saw them at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, Florida in 2004. Fast forward 2024 and listening to them on my CD player in the car. Operation Mindcrime the best Album.
I was at that same show same day. Right off of McMullen Booth. I remember they played random songs and then the entire Mindcrime album. The band including Tate was really on that night!
if thiers anybody listening, IMO! no matter how hard they try, thiere nobody without eachother! the way Tate,DeGarmo, Wilton, Jackson, and Rockenfeld sound together can never be duplicated! Solanstusx Maybe you have something wrong with your ears. Geoff Tate's voice is still amazing! I saw him in Tucson a month ago and was blown away! Also, would you mind looking up the definitions for these words: write, right and rite. Thank you.
His pipes have been shot since Tribe. And he spelled it "write" because he was responding to the commenter above him, who said that Geoff and DeGarmo need to get back together and write music. The only thing worse than a grammar Nazi is an incorrect grammar Nazi.
54 yrs old and I've seen many live acts in my time.. Only two of the hundreds left an everlasting memory with me in regard to the excellence in reproducing what was captured in studio and then surpassing it.. Queensryche first and Scorpions next.. Saw them both several times in their prime 80's & 90's and my mind was blown each time!
Have to agree, Ryche was badass, seen scorpions too, love at first sting tour, FANTASTIC I got to add iron maiden in there, triumph to.. seen alot... PEACE PEEPS
Rage for Order, the supporting tour was my second time seeing Queensryche live (The Warning being first), was absolutely blown away, just as I was every time I saw the band, which I did on every tour through Empire. Tate was perfect, each and every time. Unreal.
Agreed. He's not anti-America or "liberal" . He has common sense, something that most lack. He's anti-corruption and anti-elitist government. If we all ask ourselves that question, I think we can all agree with Geoff on that.
I saw him in Nov 2012, and he sounded good, not exactly like when I saw him in '92 or in '01, but we're all older now. He's still a better singer than most other rock/metal vocalists today.
The caption says this was live in 2007 but that's not possible, because Chris DeGarmo left the band in 1997 and only made a couple of songwriting appearances on tribe. Now this is the Empire tour 1991. I caught them Live in San Francisco. They came out for an hour and played what was basically the best of the warning the EP and rage for order. They went backstage and change clothes and came back out and did the entire operation mine crime live which took a little over an hour. Then they went back and took a little break and came back out and did the remainder of the set with five of the best songs from Empire. It was a two and a half hour show and it was perfection. I was 25 ft from the stage. They were the most technically proficient live band I've ever seen which is to say they were flawless. I've seen other shows that had more dynamic energy so to speak I mean I've seen Kiss three times I saw Motley Crue on the girls girls tour on those were monster shows, but they did not play with the technical proficiency and wizardry that queensrych showed. Ask me what I'd rather see on a daily basis I'll take Queensrÿche hands down. For my money Queensrÿche Rush and Dream Theater set the bar so high most bands cannot even attempt to reach it.
Had front row seats for the Dallas, TX show..and again in Austin, TX the next night. And was pleasantly surprised by a last minute opportunity to meet Geoff,Michael and Chris and get their autograph and talk about their amazing lyrics and the inspiration behind them! What a wonderful time it was!!
"You need attention, what's good is only mine" yay-ahh! Right here Geoff Tate yeah baby! Hahahaha..I love tbis band, this album, & this song! Hell yes great memories!
I saw them at the Whiskey-a-go-go in '82...there were only about 30 to 40 people there...it was the BEST!!..after that I seen them at least 20 times...RYCHE FOREVER!!!!
Geoff can still sing anything. I don't mean any range but any style. You are so right about everything here. There are hints scattered around in old stories and interviews. In the 2006 interview with Geoff and Chris they said "we'd basically be off doing our own thing" a hint at creative segregation. Geoff has said before that when he came up with the concept for Mindcrime the others didn't like it and Chris had to bring them round. Chris was the "bridge" between Geoff and the others.
Haha!! In the words of Garth Algar : "live in the now". Why not be a mature person, and support both sides. Considering that Geoff has moved on from the Queensryche and Operation: Mindcrime project, it seems that he has moved on. You should too.
@@JIF882 with Tina S. Sorry dude! I'll taking this rocking heavy shit over the new queensryche and even over "Silent lucidity "! But I respect your opinion. ...
I don't know of one heavy rock or metal singer from the '80s that can still do it. All of them have changed. It's rough singing night after night while on the road. Some so called experts will say it's a maintenance thing. There is no maintenance for that aside from fewer shows. For example, an opera singer sings a fraction of the shows that Geoff has in his career.
The best voice ever tied with RJD miss that man and miss Queensryche, the band will never be the same with out him. I saw Geoff 3 times since the split first 2 great last 1 not so much and I will never go see the other one's.
Well said FreeMTrider, I agree 100%, Chris was going in a new direction. He even talks about the chemistry he and Geoff had and how their writing was becoming more sophisticated, in a 2007 interview, on youtube. Can you imagine being stuck in 1989 and doing just that, over and over, never growing up or changing......
I've always said this is Queensryche best concert video, the way Tate is dancing and spining the microphone, and the shirt unbutton, and getting the crowd into it, it's just perfect. Walk in the shadows ranks as 1 of Queensryche many great songs, Geoff Tate was the man back then, he aint with Queensryche no more, but i still love what music Geoff brought us with Queensryche.

And after Queensryche he left music to be a jet pilot.
Chris DeGarmo was a genius as a songwriter and as a guitar player and I definitely agree with that
Now that's queensryche
The original linup was so powerful!
Yep
This is how I like to remember Queensryche. Their live performances were perfect when they were at the peak of their career, and this is it!
