Right before “and justice for all” was released, they played this song live during a show in Pittsburgh. It was the last song they played and told us to look for it on their new up coming album. The crowd loved it but we had no idea the scope of the song at the time.
Don't get me wrong, I love Metallica. Saw them last year and it was great, but.....the anger and aggression, the pure brutality from this era is gone. Having seen them then, and seeing them now, there is a difference. They aren't as loud either. I remember not being able to hear much after the concert in 1991, and thinking the volume had been much less in 2020. We are all getting older I suppose, and I will see them again and again for sure, but I miss this era.
They can still reach down and get it on occassion but 90s were prime years for sure... look at any other athlete at 25-30 and then at 55-60.... wicked that they can still play as hard as they do...
I'm not a musician but after the Black Album tours, they changed their live sound from James's style of singing (James's voice was busted so he needed to start singing as opposed to screaming), their guitar tuning (again because James's voice was busted so they needed to change the tuning to match the vocals) to Lars's drumkit (his shoulder has issues). It's not just the age issue but that's a big part of it. Lars has been asked how long they will go for and he notes that an 80 year old Bob Dylan keeps going but Bob Dylan doesn't play Metallica songs.
I saw Metallica for the first time in 2003, and even then I had this feeling of "the best time to see them has already long passed, they'll never again sound the way they did in the 80s-early 90s." I still went and enjoyed them nonetheless, and it's still pretty remarkable how great of a show they can put on despite their age.
I love the part where the pause at the end before they start up again. James laughs, I know he was thinking “ oh we aren’t even done with this MF yet” 😁while 1.6 million fans go wild cheering for them. It’s the best. I absolutely love this video!

They are untouchable!
what could be better than a metallica in their prime? fuckin awesome!!!
I was at this concert, I was then in my second year studying in college, what groups were there and I don’t remember, I went to METALLICA, it was a complete blowout, Broom - we remembered listening to it at home and in urgent company back in 86, when it was openly that the pioneers and Komsomol members did not approve of the blah)) which did not stop us from drawing her name through a stencil on the back of the padded jacket)) on the trashed cassettes on Elektronika 302 with the batteries crumpled into the trash, it arose that this way they would work a little longer)) and instead rewinding after wiretapping, I used a pencil, the film broke, you nicked the nail lag from your mother or older sister, glued the film and listened again, and here is BROOM live in Moscow, my whole world turned upside down with emotions then...)))
you can checkout my channel i do metal too)

Probably the greatest live performance of any song ever. Apart from Kirks solo...
Well, cause harvester has very lame solo...
@@alfonspekala Disagree the solo on the record is great. Here kirks fucks it up.
The guitar tech fucked up
@@aegisreflector1239 no, his guitar wasn't tuned properly
@@doinyamaam3677 Bruh his guitar was tuned fine,Kirk just messed up n went out of key on the solo. It happens,it's live. Has nothing to do with being out of tune, which he wasn't. He's using a floyd rose don't forget.
How mutch bass in the mix?
-YES!
5:02 This has to be the most violent and influential moment in metal history
Still till this day one of the greatest metal shows in history.Cant believe they let the whole country show up & then play.Epic.
