Grateful to find your channel!! Best explanation and instructions we've found on TH-cam! Thank you for giving clear, detailed instructions AND encouragement for DIYers. We are working on my brother's recently purchased 53 year old home. Sadly, in some places we are finding texture over wallpaper that was hung with minimal primer on the drywall before wallpaper was applied🤦🏼‍♀️... His options are to live with the problem or learn to fix it ourselves! Your encouragement to do it ourselves, coupled with your important caveats, and detailed instructions will save us a lot of time!!

This video is so helpful. I have this exact problem in my stairwell and upstairs hallway. Now I know the proper way to go about fixing the wall. Thanks so much for the information

Spencer: great job, as always. One question, though: is it locked down?

I removed all wallpaper including the bits and pieces. However, much of the glue is still left and parts of the drywall look yellowish. So, I don't need to clean up the drywall off this glue and just apply this stuff on the entire drywall and I'm good to go to paint using water-based paint? That's unbelievable because I dread cleaning up the entire drywalls! Will everything be OK long term?

I was in your situation this week, the home owner removed the first/ outer layer of the wallpaper then I showed up and removed the second layer of the wall paper, which left behind yellow glue all over the wall. The glue is relatively easy to remove with a damp/wet microfiber towel and lots of elbow grease. I was not about to do all that work. After explaining all the work that would have been involved to the homeowner in regards to removing the glue we ended up just painting over with some cheap Home Depot Behr 2in1 paint and primer . The results were great. We could not tell the glue was there. I think you will like the results without applying this oil based paint he is recommending in this video.

Hey what do you think about this one?\
Valspar Pro Interior Pva Water-Based Wall and Ceiling Primer (5-Gallon) and only $ 50 for 5G.

As a contractor, I cannot take the chance of that failing; it’s a massive liability if it fails however, you are a homeowner you can absorb the loss if it fails; if you want to take that chance, give it a try

Why shouldn't I prime again after scraping. I have lots of spots with paper?

China have got a ship that can lift ships from deep down. In the past, they have salvaged/stolen warships from WW2.

In this situation, coming back with paint, will Roman’s pro 999 cause me any issues?

@@spencercolgan Hi Spencer, greetings from Ireland,Thistle bond is a product that's applied with a roller or brush,it adheres to walls similar to the wall in your demonstration ,and worse, when applied,it allows ordinary skim coat plaster to be applied over the top giving a perfect finish for papering or paint. As you can probably guess, there's no shortage of plasterers here in Ireland, I reckon, that wall would take a plasterer ten minutes at most to do.

So…the $2000 Festool replaces the $40 boat trowel? 🥹😂Seriously though, what are your thoughts about the Planex? I never thought I would buy Festool anything, but ultimately did. They seem to be breaking ground into the future. Awesome job, Spencer.

Set after that wall, I went out and got my pool trowel to work on the rest of the job! You are amazing that you remembered that… You must be a regular channel watcher… I said to myself, will anybody remember that I used the other trowel in other videos? That’s hysterical

Plus, that was 3 o’clock in the morning… When I tell you that I was physically exhausted, that drywall sander is a godsend and yes, it eliminates the need to put tremendous pressure on the trowel
