Literally yesterday watched an old video here on Cathy Hay channel - permission to rest. There she says the same analogy about holding a weight with a water bottle and how it grows heavy the longer you hold it up. Anyone want to check out plz do. She is brilliant too. Love when you do talking videos Sadia (love recipes of course but these are like a mood lifter energy pack) . ❤

I've also been contemplating about how we're easily distracted and how I want to distract myself because in silence I catch myself thinking of past mistakes and negative thoughts. I guess it was easier as a child since I had less worries. But I hope the tips in this video help me better acknowledge my thoughts in silence for I want to be in the present moment as often as I can. Wonderful topic to talk about, Sadia.

This book has really a lot in common with the therapy I give to clients: ACT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. It is derived from eastern philosophy combined with cognitive behavioral therapy and it's evidence based. I love how psychological therapy is finally using ancient wisdom to guide and help people. Even the cup exercise I do in a slightly different way :)

One form of "stay"ing that I really recommend is having a conversation, and approaching that conversation with curiousity. For example, approaching anxiety by finding someone to talk to about it. Noticing what it feels like in my body, and notice which narrative it is trying to speak. Sometimes, if no one is around, you can learn to have this conversation with yourself, but friends are really useful. They can offer perspective and love when that is hard for our own brains to do

I feel that the 'Lord of Form' and the 'Lord of Speech' are really just tools or processes that we employ to attach ourselves to the 'Lord of Mind' invariably. So, even when we pick up our phone to check notifications (Lord of Form), it's just a subtler way of overcoming the same uneasiness of reality for which people attach to the Lord of Mind (with drugs, lust, etc), albeit with a milder intensity.
Also, sometimes the visuals in your video are so good, that I tend to become oblivious to the message being spoken, and have to rewatch the video. Very interesting analogy and content!

    Thank you for this truth.
We live in a culture that does not prioritize developing inner awareness. If anything, avoiding being alone with ourselves and our inner heart shape has become a modern addiction. But what happens to a whole society of people who systematically feel alienated about being with themselves and then are taught that their best option in life is to become comfortably numb to their own inner experience? What psychological damage have we inflicted on ourselves, tormented each other with, and wreaked havoc on the environment with when we repeatedly avoid working spiritually with our own mind and heart?
I really appreciate this video. Thank you, once again.

Whats difficult is we dont like change....especially a painful change...only if we knew the pains we are suffering today will shower us much more abundance in future,we willingly would hv welcomed the change...there are some things in human life which are beyond his control...these things, feelings should be let gone....certain times,we dont decide what comes in n goes out of our lives....we hv to accept it as it is( n we dont like it the way it is)... but once u hv accepted it,u r in a better place( peaceful n wiser,n not afraid of it anymore).... i joined pickuplimes in 2018 n it has been a wonderful journey with it...i wish u all the best....

This video was so insightful. I'm currently on a break from most social media and realized how the distractions I found myself gravitating to in times of frustration, boredom, or avoidance only served to be temporary. In my week of very limited TV and social media perusing, I became so much more aware of myself and my thought processes. Because of distractions, there was so much in me I had not been paying attention to. It's amazing how we live in a world of distractions and most often don't even feel we are distracted. So happy to have come across this video.

I just wanna thank you so much from the bottom of my heart, I absolutely love your videos and you are actually saving us from ourselves. I feel like our life is driven by two things 90% of the time that is fear and desire. Desire to get something or reach somewhere and fear of not getting that or even loosing something either in the present or in future and if you we can learn to deal with these two things we can be truly free of our minds and thats when we can achieve satisfaction and peace. just something i wanted to share but I do love your videos so much cooking ones and these both, so thank you so much.

I agree with practically everything you’ve said. I get the feeling that you’ve put a lot of effort into understanding the world around you and I think that is very admirable. I wish you and anyone else reading this luck on their journey to being okay. It won’t happen immediately, but it will happen. Much love, internet user.

My therapist described this as a baloon everyone has (aka emotional and Spiritual baggage). We try to hide it, for example in a water tank. We push it down, when we're talking to somebody or experience unpleasant Situations. But if we need two hands it will pop up and not only us but others will see it on the surface too. So whats the best thing to do? My answer destroy it with a needle wasnt a healthy answer 😅 she said, take it with you. Put it right to your side that way, the weight wont take your energy but you still can do stuff with two hands, like more difficult situations.

This spoke to me instantly I could not hold in the tears. The analogies with the glass we hold and the walls we put up are so true. I feel exactly like this. Fighting off depression has been tough lately and this type of content really helps in knowing I'm not the only one feeling this way. Thank you Sadia for being such a light for so many people. You inspire me and others to be gentle with ourselves and search for meaning and awareness in life, be it in the kitchen or within ourselves.
Much love to you and your crew for the amazing work you do!

      The famous saying: In your 20s you care about what others think;
In your 40s you completely ignore what others think; In your 60s you realise no one cared about you.

I kind of knew, but now it is even clearer. This is what I often do when I start feeling anxious and I am alone. I think it will help to look through social media but it rarely does. Sometimes series or a movie works as first aid and if that is the case I let it. Especially if I cannot track down my anxiety or if it is PMS or something else. Other times I find that what helps is yoga because it helps me see things more clearly and also helps me to feel better. I think what finally puts down the cup for me is journaling (which I just realized by reading people's comments, thank you!).

Thank you, as always, for this fantastic video. I've been following the idea of focusing on myself and my surroundings attentively for quite some time, but there simply are distractions - and I think I've learned from you that it's okay to get distracted. More importantly though, one mustn't give up and refocus. I also really like that you admit your struggle, which brings you closer to your viewers :)

So, recently I have been feeling overwhelmed by “things” , possessions, even others possessions. Understandable considering that we have 5 people and a baby with another on the way in a 1200 square foot house. On the upside, it is giving me the inspiration to let go of possessions that do not bring me joy. I find this refreshing, as I would love a more minimalist look in our home. This video really got me thinking. Thank you 🥰

I feel ya! We're 4 people over here in a 1200 square foot house, and I feel possessions are overwhelming our life! Definitely trying to simplify over here to keep things manageable. Some things are baby things, and as my son grows out of them, I'm very much looking forward to sticking them in the attic or getting rid of them! I want to simplify.
