      well I'm told by quite reputable sources that I can't name for obvious reasons but they are friends and they told me that Renderman 2.0? was applied by Pixar through Toy Story 3 to create the cobwebs. In the 2nd hand/vintage shop footage with the cobwebs they actually made tiny spiders in the Renderman program to simulate where they would be as spider webs and how they would fit in a scene as abandoned cobwebs. These went into the final movie. This is the most impressive thing I have ever heard about a render to movie program ever!

    6:16 Remember that Booleans are just 0 and 1 integer values. So another way to implement an “and-not” condition is to with subtraction: instead of “A and not B”, you can write “A - B” and clamp the result.

    I literally follow along perfectly until the end for every geo nodes third layer of lightning and spiderweebs or anything because i get lost in the group nodes and the explanation. I love your tutorials tho you're in my top 5 blender channels

      idk about him but many people who already had experience with game development felt right at home as it isn't far off from how you do this stuff in code. If you have the intuition already then its just sitting down with the documentation and plowing through it

    This is such an incredibly versatile node group! I could see bits of this setup getting recycled into so many things - leather tassles on a jacket, strings of Tibetan prayer flags, washing lines loaded with randomly distributed clothing items... And starting from the full version with all the recursive branching, you could make stringy sci-fi/horror monster slime, fill a cavern with networks of ancient tree roots, string up vines criss-crossing a jungle... So many possibilities 😁😁

    Hello! I have an issue.
    I cannot change the scale of the tubes in the web, I was making a small donut
    the cpbweb ended not looking natural
    When I put .01 it doesnt change much, so I put a divide math node set to 10
    still didnt change much, and changing to further values dont change much
    Im a beginner, any help is appreciated
    Btw, I've had made the cobweb in a different blend so that I could append it easily, it works fine in that blend, so I believe the problem is scale

    This is awesome! Question I've been racking my brain for: I'd like the to attach branches to animated/moving objects, with the cobwebs staying attached to the object as it moves, without Blender re-calculating the entire node setup. How might I go about doing this? I've been trying to think of how I would calculate the set of end-points that the branches would go to for the 'rest' position, and somehow 1) store these statically so they don't change throughout the animation (as is the closest point may change when the object moves) and 2) lock said points to any moving object. Not sure how to do this in geo nodes yet :D

    • @JoeyCarlino
      @JoeyCarlino  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think using index values could work, because they wouldn't change as you move around

    hey man. this is great and works like a charm. except, I have this issue where when I drag a noodle from node input to group input (to expose a parameter), I can't enter other values than whole numbers which don't do anything. in short, I can't expose other parameters at all, they don't work. I could only expose length between points on a curve (4:17 in your video) and nothing else. would you have any idea what could be the problem. googling got me nowhere. thx!!

    • @JoeyCarlino
      @JoeyCarlino  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I think you'd have to convert it to a mesh before adding thickness, the use cloth physics with the ends pinned (so they don't fall), and then you could use a skin modifier to give it thickness

    Fellas, make sure you *never* have to undo your fucking work, or blender will delete everything you worked hard for in a blink of an eye.
