    Reason for Indians choosing crossover SUVs over Sedans is the bad state of our roads. Sedans keep hitting horrendously big speed breakers or potholes while crossover SUVs don’t face this problem due to higher ground clearance. It’s basically poorly governed state of the country responsible for people moving to SUVs majorly. Sedans by design are much superior than SUVs

    If you are a sensible middle class driver, a mid size SUV or crossover makes more sense.
    1. Taller seating position, especially helpful for new drivers.
    2. Easy to get in and out especially for elderly.
    3. Highways might be better but internal roads still aren't good. High ground clearance always helps there.
    Sedan has positives but those will only be appreciated by enthusiasts which are not your everyday people.

    • @akshaykarwal7582
      @akshaykarwal7582 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +28

      @abhsk 1. Most new drivers do opt for compact or mid size SUVs because they can see the bonnet. But it doesn't say anything about sensible choice. Just improve your driving skills.
      2. Unless you are going for bmw, Ingress and egress in Verna, city, virtus, ciaz are comfortable for elederly.
      3. This is in fact the primary reason one should opt for sedans as they glide over bad roads. Companies are required to make stiff suspension for suvs because of the body roll that comes with high ground clearance. This is not the case with sedans. My mom prefers to sit in my verna instead of creta just because of this.
      Moreover, sedans come 2-3 lacs cheaper than their suv counterparts. What is more sensible now?

    • @darshanpatel8816
      @darshanpatel8816 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +12

      Also people argue that internal roads are not that good but in reality it is better than what was 10 years ago yes there might be exceptions heare and there.
      Only reason i find it to be sensible choice is remote village areas and personal preferences for road presence which you can show to your relatives

    • @ranjeethappy
      @ranjeethappy 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +10

      1. I am an enthusiast who likes Sedans but my wife prefers SUVs only because of Ingress and Outgress and I agree with her point.
      2. Due to the road presence, even the pseudo SUV drivers drive as if they own the road and always suppress the sedans. SEDANS are for gentlemen for sure.

    • @AkshaySharma-ut6rv
      @AkshaySharma-ut6rv 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@akshaykarwal7582Sedans generally suck at ground clearance for any roads except perfect roads. And yes they don’t glide over bad roads at all. Low centre of gravity means with slight undulations the whole body shakes. God forbid if you have to reroute through a rural patch where speed breakers should be called sedan breakers.
      Their suspension will only perform better where bumps are under an inch.

    I bought Honda Amaze, All My friends told why you are buying a sedan,
    My Reasons --------
    1) High Milage [22-24 KMPL in highways, 17-18 In Cities]
    2) Best back seat comfort [Sedans are complete family car]
    3) No rollover in high speeds.
    4) Sedans require less maintenance.
    6) Sedans have Big Boot space [420 liters].
    7) Also, with almost 160mm ground clearance it's at par for off-roading too.
    Only demerit is you cannot carry big things in car things like cycle, like we do in hatchbacks and SUV by folding rear seat.

    I have owned a 2012 Diesel Vento for 9 years now and it has by far the best fuel economy of any of my cars. It gives 20kmpl on daily commutes and more than 25 on Highway conditions, never had a flat tire and the only problem it ever had was a flat battery 7 years ago because I left the parking on for over a week. On the retrospect my 2021 Brezza has fuel economy of 17 on Highways and fits 3 less suitcases and one person less. Also, the power delivery is messed up.

      @@chadmagnifici2347 space , suspension travel, wheel size all are in favour of SUVs . Idk about you, I am 6feet , my father as well, in sedans aur any smaller car we have problems due to knees bent and lower sitting. With higher sitting the knees are less bent . Then there is headroom problem in lower cars . And then bigger wheels of SUVs don't drop down in potholes as much as a small wheels of a sedan. Further the suspension travel of sedans are way less .
      The only comfort in sedans is when you are cutting the traffic, changing lanes and directions in fast pace you will have lesser body roll . But I am not a racer to cut everyone to go fast around corners so that's also sorted. Checkout Innova the most sought out car for long travels . I went with salvia as well, with 5 people and luggage, the front bumper scapes at quite places . Even if it doesn't it makes a mark on drivers mins which makes him more cautious and certainly less confident towards tackling uneven roads . This mental state alone makes for lots of uncomfort

    The reason what you mentioned are more sensible for advanced countries which have great roads even with in the city and not just higways.
    Indian roads is major factor that Suvs is preferred more than sedans..
    if u r looking for the best driving experience, high speed, cornering yes sedans are the best but in terms of practicality suvs r take over a edge with better suspension, ground clearance. biggest reason is you dont know when u will bump in to a pothole in our roads.. suvs can absorb them much better..
    next will be suv s are easy to judge n drive as you seat is higher u ve much better visibility, as we know we drive in a bumper to bumper traffic condition.. often we need to take close calls with less than half feet judgement which is makes suvs easier to drive.. for example driving a toyota fortuner in a road of 15 feet is much easier than driving a honda city or verna bcoz of the high seat riding position in suvs for better judgement and visibility..
    considering the road, traffic and family size suvs are more practical for indian roads n families.

      Drive a sedan and an suv back to back on bad roads. There is a huge difference in comfort. My verna eats all bad patches like a charm, practically glide over them. On the other hand, my wife has creta and I could feel the bumps and body roll. Unless you are living in a remote village with no roads whatsoever, sedans are perfectly suited for Indian cities. Sedans are in general more practical. Airy cabin, plush ride, low ground clearance ( yes its a plus, higher ground clearance comes with annoying body roll ) I have both suv and sedan, and I highly suggest everyone to go with sedans. True driving pleasure!

      I live in Bangalore.. even if u r living in a city you often end up in a situation where you don’t find roads or ppl call it as a road but actually you don’t see it as one.. sometimes even your google map will suggest u that as a road to take.. ha.. ha.. anyways jokes apart..
      I drive a Toyota fortuner and also own a VW Vento.. I have done all India round trip in my fortuner for 14 days.. I could do it with confidence n comfort bcoz it was an suv.. personal choices differs but in terms of practicality I would still vote for suvs for Indian roads.. unless you r driving in countries with well organized with zero potholes.. it might do the job for you but we cannot generalize it..

I finally bought the Safari because of the size of my family but keeping the Virtus as a final contender was really based on the driving dynamics of sedan. Sedans are still very relevant. It's just that they don't create the hype when compared to compact SUVs and mixed with the less options available in the Sedan market, the customer finally gets an SUV which isn't even a true SUV. Also 4th point - boot space.
    Only 2 problems- underbody scraping due to low ground clearance combined with long wheelbase.
    And, during heavy rains SUVs might be able to cross waterlogged roads without water getting in engine and cabin, not the case with sedans.

    Sedans are a good choice if you’re a young adult or a young couple in the city. But 80% of Indians are living in rural areas and most of them only have 1 car for whole family so a suv gives them more benefits like more ground clearance on bad roads, easier for elders to get in and out of, more trunk space, can fit more people in the back seat….

    • @kittentales8226
      @kittentales8226 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      Definitely not more truck space bro... Verna, Virtus, Slavia all offer 500 ltrs plus Boot space. No mid sized suv is even close to that.

      Sorry to disappoint you, u shld go out more ofter India isn’t living in rural with 80%. I have verna 2018 bs3 model never felt these issue and all these never touch my bump. I can still take 150+ like a piece of cake. And car depends on how many family user and members u have we are 4 members nd 3 at back can sit more cofy than any suv right now. If u have 6-8 than definitely compact suv or sedan isnt gud for u.

    Hello @biturbomedia
    I have been watching your videos regularly and I am overwhelmed by the detailed information provide by you.
    I request your recommendation as I am planning to buy a compact SUV/SUV. If you get few minutes please suggest the below questions
    We are a small family and my budget would be around 17-18 Lakh and I need good features in the vehicle. My driving will not be must as I am in IT and get the opportunity to work from home. However I love to go for long drive and I enjoy driving a lot on long trips. I am looking for few things as MUST HAVE in the SUV is : AT gearbox, Ground Clearance must be decent, Safety 5 start and should have decent mileage.
    1. Sedan vs SUV/Compact SUV : please suggest the name of the vehicle ?
    2. Kushaq/Tigun or Mahindra 3XO ?
    3. Shall I go for any strong Hybrid ? If yes which one.
    Thanks & Regards
    Abhishek
