I remember hearing about Sony planning on a CGI animated series based on the Sly Cooper series back in 2019, but as of right now (in 2022), there's still no word if the Sly Cooper animated series is still going to happen or not.
... not Netflix. They're gonna turn them into overly obnoxious shells of their former selves to push another agenda. Unless Sony and Sucker Punch keeps a very VERY sharp eye on production, it won't fly.
Love how the entire thing is silent save for music and sound effects, there's some prop exposition but other than that the entire thing is told through actions which I totally approve of.
I would to love to see a Sly Cooper animated series similar to the animation cutscenes in the games. Also a comic book series or chapter book series would be pretty amazing too (Scholastic did release a couple books based on the Sly Cooper series, an adaptation of the first comic called "To Catch A Theif" and "How To Draw Sly Cooper And Friends" if any fans remember those books existed).
They had plenty of money and dropping out of the console making business hasn't bankrupted them or even stopped them making games. They made 3 cartoons and a couple dozen games with only ONE character. They've got money to spare. I'm not saying Sucker Punch is broke, but cartoons are expensive, and as much as I would love a Sly Cooper cartoon, I would much prefer a few more great games to a cartoon that might mean we never get another game from such an awesome studio.

Yes everyone loves the meet the team videos, but those are made as one time things. Just because something is good once doesn't mean it will work as a series. How many episodes can you think of? Well lets see, they could play the meet the team vids to kill time, have someone shoot the heavy, have the medic heal them, somebody blows up... Do you see what I'm saying? Yes they are great characters, but there's no story that will run well on a series there.

If only there was a Sly Cooper game that allows us to explore Germany. It would be Sly and his Gang against an Evil Germany Count who has a Frankenstein/Dracula motif and his guards consists of a Boar Flashlight Guard carrying a Blunderbuss, a Wolf Rooftop Guard carrying a sword and a Lynx rooftop guard carrying a wood cutter axe.

Regardless of the immediate costs, the fact remains that after a game's initial release, all you have to do to make more money off it is make more copies. An ongoing cartoon requires writers and animators and the like to come up with new material on a regular basis (or an entire season in advance, but then there's next season). If you want a miniseries then yeah, that might be cheaper.
Because games are meant to be played. Believe me, in the case of Sly Cooper, I would love to see an animated series, and I think they could pull it off, however, games like TF2 and L4D are different. Those games are focused on multiplayer, so a story gets in the way unless it is not essential, like theirs are currently. And even making single player games into a series can backfire. Which of the three Sonic the Hedgehog series do you prefer?
I personally think that Sanzaro studios butchered the sly series. The game looks great and the art work is is cool in some parts, but the personality of the characters and story the did was terrible. Sly isn't the same charasmatic nature, they fucked riorichi up bad they didnt even have the right canes for him. Tennesse kid cooper isnt so great in that game eiter and they visited some of in my opinion the worse cooper except for riorichi and tennesse. the game idea had potentail but I grew up playing Sly, and was obsessed making my own comics on Sly and what might have happened after the third game. I think i could have done a better job playing the story out after the third game.
And I enjoy the sonic cartoons too, but I bet getting three different shows made and then canceled didn't make anyone like the character more. It certainly wouldn't make the company want to put money into making more sonic cartoons, and for all we know, failure there may be contributing to them consistently making the horrible sonic games we're putting up with now. And then take one other thing into consideration: SEGA was a big player in the game industry.
And they had years of game revenue to put into that. Besides, much as I love the static, comic book format for a unique cutscene in a Sly Cooper game, it probably wouldn't work well for a show. That means that other animators would likely be handling the animation. There's too much money, work and variables involved to make a cartoon, and then they have to compete with the expectations of their fans, something regular cartoons don't have to deal with. Still, I would love it if they tried anyway
