AH Sly Cooper Comparison: "Anime" Opening & Ending Cutscenes

- Footage from Sly Cooper & The Thievius Raccoonus Japanese version which includes fully animated opening & ending scenes of the story. I decide to make this side by side comparison since no one has uploaded this type of video with good quality. You can also see some Lupin The 3rd spotlight imagery within the first scene with Sly & Murray. NOTE: It's not possible to 100% sync both videos to the english dub audio because of the different art styles & timing of certain movements & dialogue.

One thing I liked in the Japanese version is that Carmelita yells "That bastard!" when she realizes he trapped her in her own handcuffs
and neither one of them animated Sly "bouncing on his fathers knee"
It's so cool that they did this for both regions. Different comic styles with each of its quirks. Of course, Sly 2 and 3 had way too many to do, so I get why they didn't go for it again.
I like the the cartoonish style but the anime one is way better
How ironic is it that young sly reads the thievius racoonus left to right in japanese, but right to left in english?

The Japanese animation looks gorgeous and smooth. The American one is kinda weird and clunky...

@@hassanghanim3966 makes sense since that's kind of Sucker Punch's style; every Sly and Infamous game has a few cutscenes that are done in a comic book style.
I will never forget the weird way sly says “8” at 3:10. For some reason I always remember it whenever I’m doing a backwards countdown

The Anime cutscenes are better and clears the perspective of the viewer a little more. I think the Anime’s iconic.
This game was one of the first instances of me being introduced to Anime in my life. I remember being 6 when this game came out in 2002 and while watching the Anime opening and closing cutscenes I remember looking at them like "wow this is different." Lol and looking back now, I remember hearing the Japanese dub while watching them and wondering what is Sly saying because I didn't know what Japanese was at the time. Ahhh good times.
I had no idea that this game existed, yet this was still entertaining.

I love the way the made the anime version I wish they made more anime with animal humans design pad like that, Carmelita blushed face was really cute in the anime version
The anime version is so good and accurate. The biggest goof that was found in the American cinematic scenes in Sly Cooper and the Thievieus Raccoonus was Sly was wearing yellow gloves and black shoes in the movie scenes while the game, he wears the blue gloves and shoes. But in both movie scenes and game scenes in the Japanese version, he wears the blue gloves and shoes
And the anime scenes were very smooth
How did Clockwork fit inside of the door frame to sly's house?
Actually, how did any of the Fiendish Five fit inside of the house with exception to Frogman?
Did Sly even have a house by the end of the visit?

They were master thieves. It was a very big house.
I really don't like how childlike everything looks in the Japanese one to make it look cuter. Sure the Japanese one has more smooth animation but they are completely different art styles and it explains why with the future games they kept the same ones since they made them look so much better and way more like a comic book, like it was meant to be. Enjoy the one you prefer but I enjoy more the original.
It's a matter of tastes, as you say. But we have to recognize some scenes are much better done on the Japanese version and the other way round too. I personally love both tbh.

So here's some odd details that I've just noticed, during the scene where young Sly is reading through the Thievius Raccoonus, it's not only implied that each line of text takes up two pages (watch the how the eyes follow each line) but American Sly seems to be reading the book backwards....also, shouldn't the front cover be on the other side of the book for Japanese Sly?
If it were manga, sure.
Otherwise, modern Japanese is written left to right.
3:30 that's the same sound clip from RuneScape 3's Hunter Training Dummy.
The Japanese intro can be found on all versions of the game (except the Korean version), while the Japanese outro can only be found on the Japanese and PAL versions.
This is really late but I have to say that in ps3 version if you complete the game 100% you get to see the outro too.
I'm wondering if the henchmen of the criminal, the Cooper robs, is a nod to Smiley and George from Sherlock Hound/Meitantei Hōmuzu.
Anime Sly and Carmelita look pretty good and as they should if this game was given an anime adaptation.

I kind of died laughing when they made Sly wink in the Japanese one.
I kinda wish that they would make the English version Anime clips in all of the Sly games
The japanese one has obviously better animation, but the style is ehh and goes off model, and the character designs could look better. The western one feels way more consistent.
It's weird, there are some things that both do right and some things they do not as well, all in separate areas.

It's only for 3 cutscenes from the 1st game but there's talk of an animated series by possibly Nick. A lot of things are still in the dark.
In the Japanese version, why does sly look younger than Carmelita?
Sly seems to be drawn in a bishonen art style which makes him look cuter or handsome in some shots. I think he might've been interpreted more as a teenager than an adult in the Japanese animation. The emphasis on beauty also removes the mischievous crook/thief appearance of Sly.

I don't like the anime one it doesn't fit good for me I like the cartoon one it fits more for that type of story
The problem with the anime visuals is the usage of a 2000's bishonen art style which is why Sly looks more cute than cool.
