I absolutely love the simplicity of the second light setup and the depth of the background with the grid on background! 🔥🔥🔥 Also can we take a minute to appreciate Lindsay's makeup!!!!
Thank you so much Lindsay for sharing your knowledge to the world. I’m literally starting photography after years of procrastinating, but like my wise dad always say “it’s never too late to start”. I’ve been trying to find a photographer mentor to follow and I can honestly say that I’ve learned so much since I found your videos on TH-cam. I’ve even placed an order for the Westcott Optical spot, which I think is an amazing tool and I can’t wait to put it to use. I’m base in Dubai UAE 🇦🇪 and I can’t wait to learn more from you and take amazing beauty photos. Many many thanks again for sharing your blessings.
Same with me. From film, switching to digital. I bought most of my equipment used though to save money. The main thing is practice, practice, and more practice. And learn from pros like Lindsay!
Saw the riser holding the strip box on the Savage stand and to provide stability on the stairs and said “I’ve GOTTA get one of those!” 🔥Torn between the image at 8:20 (set up 2 with the grid) and the image at 10:40 (set up 3), but have to give the nod to 8:20. 🔥🔥Totally agree the whimsical blowing hair provides an energy, drama, and an unscripted inimitableness that brings the image to life; which is probably why I liked both images so much. Thank you for sharing!
Not specifically, but depending on what you're going for you can apply a lot of techniques from my other videos. Something more dramatic, or backlit etc.
Sooo I’m actually realizing how much more I would like to incorporate clam shell, in many setups. I’ve been using a large key strobe allot with different colored gelled side lighting. I like the polish with the clam shell. Fire 🔥
All 3 are great, and the details of each are widely applicable to other types of set-ups. My fave is the second set-up. To me this one's final results are more subtle and pleasing to the eye overall.
Lindsay, I love all three setups but my favorite is the first. I love the idea of a soft box behind the model. I’ve never seen that used before. Awesome look! 🔥The Savage stand with the second riser is genius! I’d love to have that! 🔥Thank you for inspiring me!
Thank you Lindsay for sharing these light setups! I am mostly drawn to the 1st one but I also love the 3rd with glowing silver reflector and beauty dish. 🔥
My favorite setup is #2 warmth! It’s super versatile, yet minimal and chic so it matches my personal aesthetic. I love having a grid on the background, excited to try this in more of my work! 🔥
Honestly your videos are EXACTLY what I’ve always wanted/needed/looked for. So informative, amaaaaazing work, not annoying to watch haha, just good quality stuff! Thank you!
Thank You Lindsey I have always learned something from every video I have ever watched of yours. The second lighting choice is amazing and I also like the clam shell lighting. You always make things easy to understand. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Really excited about the Savage C stand that looks amazing and so useful for every type of photography. 🔥
I ordered a book on posing a week ago, I didn’t pay attention to the Author name, but last night I watched your video and said damn she is amazing, then my book came and I saw the name Lindsay Adler, I said let me go back to the video again and see who is this person, AND LO AND BEHOLD IT WAS YOU !!! I FEEL LIKE I HIT THE LOTTO TONIGHT , YOU ARE THE AUTHOR OF MY BOOK THAT I JUST GOT IN TONIGHT 👏🏾🏆

The clamshell setup is just 🔥! Really pops. Useful tip on how the stand gets out of the way so you have room to shoot, hold the reflector or bring in a fan for the wind if your working solo. Love your vids Lindsey, you are an inspiration.
Set up #2🔥🔥🔥 with the seemless background is FANTASTIC🔥🔥! I was recently given a peach backdrop and I think this lighting setup will be great! I can't wait to try it out...it may very well be my new favorite !🔥

The 3d set up works best ! Main plus 2 rims and reflector. Dramatic, and brings out details!🔥🔥
You make understanding light sooo simple ! Like you said… think about how you want to light , one light at a time.

Quick Question.. What tripod do you use? Do you know an affordable tripod that can tilt horizontal?
As always, such a great explanation of how to execute these setups!
