    Excellent. As ever, the "trick" is knowing what look you're after and why. The lighting and other tech aspects fall into line from there. For whatever reason it remains unsaid but I imagine a basic shot list is part of any "recipe."

    Does it matter if the rim light touches the nose during portraits and headshots?
    It doesn't bother me personally but ive heard people say otherwise.

    are these with strobe or continuous lighting? I see he's lit up while your talking but I also see a flash?

    • @UNLouise
      @UNLouise 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most ‘professional’ strobes have a monolight: it is a fraction of the actual flash output but allows previewing the lighting to a good degree.

    • @alwilliam3379
      @alwilliam3379 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's called modeling light. Independent light within the strobe, cam guide you where the flash will hit.

    Thanks so much for your education! I have white and black seamless and want to add gray and a skin tone. Which would you recommend? I've heard you speak of Fashion Gray. And for the skin tone, which of Mocha, Pecan, Beige, Egg Nog? Appreciate your input!

    • @lindsayadlerphoto
      @lindsayadlerphoto ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fashion Gray is my go-to and most versatile. I also use Thunder Gray often as well. For skin tones I typically use their general 'beige' but it largely depends on what I'm shooting. I have a variety of them for that reason.

    Hi Lindsay, a question: I use the RF 24-105 F4L as my main studio lens as well (RF 50mm 1.2 and RF 135mm 1.8 for outside the studio setting). What would you say is the widest you are comfortable with for shooting a full body shot, without having too much distortion in the body? I have a lot of space to back up at the moment, so I can even shoot full body at 135mm, but my near-future home studio will be a lot smaller...

    • @lindsayadlerphoto
      @lindsayadlerphoto ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It is hard to say, but I think I am usually around 50-63mm but I definitely have some purposefully dramatic shots much wider. Check the 15-35mm wide angle video I did last year. Id say probably usually around 35mm as widest

    Please STOP using a white background when showing your images, the pupil of our eye is on auto so it shuts down with all that screen light making the image lose contrast ....
