The issue with coupons and birthday freebies is they would be usually once a year or once in a while in a big city like London. If I tried to do something like this in the town I live in, even using Too good to go for a week and be able to eat would be a challenge.
This is definitely bringing me back to when I first found you and it’s like you’ve come full circle from the 1 pound challenge lol We love the growth throughout these years 🌱
I understand why these videos are done in London because it's where Taz lives, but I would be interested to see how this challenge would go elsewhere in the country, possibly her home town in Wales? The problem with London is it's really doesn't represent the UK as a whole. You could say cities like Birmingham and Manchester would be similar, but try doing this in your average neglected, underfunded town and I think the experience would be very different. This isn't meant as a criticism, Taz herself notes how lucky she is to live in London but it's a common trend with TH-camrs to only focus on London and I think had she done this challenge outside of London she'd have struggled a lot more.
She did a eating free for a day episode back when she lived in Wales, as well as a eating on 1 pound a day for a day and a week! While she didn't specifically do a complete week of eating for free, the challenges she did do encapsulate the differences between Wales and London quite well.
missed you taz! been watching since my first year on architecture school and now im in my last year of college! thank you for being a part of my journey, loved watching your vids while making my plates ;)
Taz, almost all baked goods and breakfast foods freeze really well. Outside a bowl of cold cereal I prep ahead and freeze about 80% of my breakfast items just to sleep in a few extra minutes on those days, lol. I purposely freeze cakes before frosting because the ice crystals that form later melt and add MORE moisture to the cake. Try it! Next time you make breakfast pancakes or waffles, French toast, breakfast burritos, etc., just make extra and pop in the freezer for when you need them. They're amazing!
I honestly liked the past videos more of living on a budget/free. Not every day is a birthday for people and people working every day also can't take up additional jobs or can sell items every day/week. In addition, being directly in London I think makes the challenge much easier than living in a smaller town with less options and freebie options. I could usually take a few things and be able to make them happen here way outside of London, but there wasn't really anything I could use to get through a week out here.
to be fair to her, I don't think she said anywhere in the video that this is a sustainable way to live. other youtubers were like 'wow this is so easy how are people struggling!' which is horrible but this girl doesn't. it's just a challenge to see how much she can get and happens to live in london.
I love you so much :( no seriously, I came across your videos like 4 years ago, during the pandemic. For some reason, i find your videos quite comforting. Thank you so much for that
Genuinely had to do this for 2 months last year because I have a disability and my benefits were stopped ( I do work but can’t work full time and my salary doesn’t cover my rent and bills), food banks are great but you don’t get much and can’t use them often. It’s not easy.

Also a tip, you should make oatmeal with milk or a milk substitute. You boil it together, add some sweetener and cinnamon and you're done. You can also reheat rice as long as you put it in the fridge once it's cooled down when you first make it. Don't leave it out of the fridge for hours, that's where the bacteria starts to form.
Actually, it's better to put rice or any food still hot/warm into the fridge than wait for it to cool down. Food borne bacteria can develop when it's cooled down out of the fridge. I used to do what you said until I read from USDA and FDA that it will keep you and your food safe if you refrigerate the food while it's still hot. :)
@MoniqueV119 That depends on where you live. Here we're told that hot food in the fridge raises the temperature inside the fridge and it can spoil other food. We're told to let it cool down to room temperature, and put it in the fridge then. And to not leave it out two hours or more.
Great job! For the best oatmeal you need to bring your water to a boil then put your oatmeal in and add vanilla, bring it back up to a boil it for about a minute take it off the heat. In your bowl you should have some butter, sweetener, honey, sugar, or Stevia, whatever you use… put your hot oatmeal on top of it. Mix it up and it taste wonderful as is, but we like to add blueberries and walnuts to ours.
I didn't know Lidl did that kind of fruit/vegetable box in the UK too. That's amazing. We have it in Germany too, it's a bag tho, and we buy it often :)
If you're UK based, they do it where I am in Scotland. The boxes are usually AFTER tills which makes it a little hard to find at times, maybe ask staff or look around the till/counter after tills area! I've found some decent stuff there, enough for a stew once!@@melow5142

You should find someone who can teach you how to safely forage. Things like wild garlic are very nutritious and tasty and are completely free if you gather them yourself (could even do it on a dog walk).
I wonder if there are free fruit picking places. I think I looked ages ago and saw a site that mapped out fruit trees and stuff, but when I checked, some where in people gardens. Dont know how that works.
Nice vid! I feel like I'd be slightly limited with some of the birthday treats because of allergies, but it definitely looks like there are a whole bunch, so I'd definitely find something. Have to wait a few months though. :p I should definitely try a wonky veg box. It could be a great way to have some fruit/veg I might not normally pick up. Glad you didn't end up just having snacks and dessert all week!
Oh man, I'm from the USA and that 1p veg box is amazing. We really don't have anything like that here. Those veggies and fruits would have been $25-ish. People wonder why we don't eat as many veggies. Who can afford to?
It's a 'wonky' veg box not a '1p' veg box, easy mistake to make though! It's called that because it's usually the fruit and veg that's bruised/scraped/misshapen. The box is £1.50 though so still very cheap!
Love Taz. Always the adventure taken so that we don't have to be the first. Enjoy everything you do and the melted chocolate in oatmeal looks delish. Melted chocolate would taste good on a car battery haha

U cant feed different dog food to a dog without incorporating it with her old food a lil at a time-thats a big no no!😢the owners might upset as they can get sick!😢❤
I like your video especially with cost of living being a massive issue but I do have one problem- I live in between 2 cities so the middle area is stretched and your type of free living would only work if you were living in a big city where you can get lots of shops. I don’t think people would benefit from this but it is a good way to check out more deals and see what can be given out x
My goodness! I tried to do as much as I could of this challenge in one day on a work trip to London (collecting before and after work) and it was a mission! Results: free chocs (hotel Chocolat, plus 54p... Maybe the prices went up?) free coffee at Ole and steen (by far the most confusing experience... They explained the points poorly, put through the coffee order when I had changed my mind to pick bread once I clocked that I could only get one of the two...and forgot my request for oat milk 😢), Gail's was amaze!, got 2 free energy drinks at Waitrose (through the green jinn app, and addition of my own), 5 egg rolls at chopstix, the barburrito monster. Not too bad but the sugar/caffeine crash is no joke 🤣
The leftover rice can be problematic when it takes you too long to put it in the fridge after you cook it, so if you are refrigerating it right away you should be fine! It also scares me but I still eat it 😂
Love these videos, next time could you do vegan eating in London for a week as cheaply as possible, but meeting like recommended nutritional guidelines?
I don't think we have all these freebies in regional Australia. You can get free meals at the casino if you are a member and have spent lots of money there in the past

we need a What you eat in a week video!!
this!!!
Yay!!! So excited for a new video! Love you Taz 💜💜💜 have you ever thought of visiting New Zealand !? 🇳🇿
STOP OH MY GOD IDK WHEN U FIRST DID THIS CHALLENGE BUT WAS IT LIKE 2019? I WAS LIKE 10 AND SEEING THIS ON MY RECOMMENDED GAVE ME SUCH DEJA VU AND I INSTANTLY CLICKED ON IT
Despite all the negative comments I think you did great Taz! Of course the video wouldn't apply to everyone and that is okay! It's called "how I lived for free for an entire week" not how you can. Best of luck Taz and those in the comments, peace and love. :)
did you drain that starch water? if not, thats why it's so starchy. rinse and drain at least a couple of times.....
Love you taz 💖💖 I’ve been watching you for years and I still look forward to every one of your posts, you make the world a better place 💖
Can't believe you ate that dog food for a week, incredible.
Nice vid! I feel like I'd be slightly limited with some of the birthday treats because of allergies, but it definitely looks like there are a whole bunch, so I'd definitely find something. Have to wait a few months though. :p
I should definitely try a wonky veg box. It could be a great way to have some fruit/veg I might not normally pick up. Glad you didn't end up just having snacks and dessert all week!
Taz absolutely love your content!!! Its so real and wholesome
Your hair looks so nice lately ❤
I love when u film living with 1 dollar or something it’s good please make more
Saw the show "one day" on Netflix and Emma in the show reminded me of you. I haven't watched your channel in about 2 years
Make sure your knife is sharp when cutting tomatoes :)
You’re beautiful! Keep up the great work. 🥰
My fav kind of videos from youuuu
The veg box looks amazing! In our Lidl, it's really hard to find a single good piece of vegetable in the box.
Hey you mentioned you would leave links for the activities you did in the description but I can’t see them, would you be able to add them please! Great video as always btw 😊
She put it all in her comment
whenever I use the really cheap rice from supermarket it always goes mushy and catastrophically in the rice cooker - no matter how much water I use / how much I wash the rice :')
U cant feed different dog food to a dog without incorporating it with her old food a lil at a time-thats a big no no!😢the owners might upset as they can get sick!😢❤
These videos make me so happy
Making money to buy food isn't free food. Its called working.
How’s selling your stuff working?
@@fandm_fun504because you had to work to buy that stuff in the first place😭
Love you!! We need more!
Olio is a great resource for free food on ireland. Tesco puts a lot of stuff on it for free in the evenings. Not sure if its as active in the uk.
God I have not seen a Taz video In SO LONG!!!
She just appeared In my recommended again after years lol
Freezing the top tier of a wedding cake and eating it on the anniversary is a tradition
Oh my god, I remember you from so many years ago! I was so young aswell, wow times had changed.
6 years ago.. wow
23:00 Not to worry! Leftover rice is only really dangerous when its left out for more than a couple hours
I didn't know about Lidl's wonky box or LoLa's cupcakes. I will use them thanks.
Those plums are nectarines
You can’t do this challenge in NY 😭 not enough options sadly
These videos are my fav from taz
The leftover rice can be problematic when it takes you too long to put it in the fridge after you cook it, so if you are refrigerating it right away you should be fine! It also scares me but I still eat it 😂
Love these videos, next time could you do vegan eating in London for a week as cheaply as possible, but meeting like recommended nutritional guidelines?
Can someone tell Taz, it was nectarine not a plum 😅
Being from The Netherlands, we always freeze bread and pastry!
Love you and your content Taz!
You should have your own show.
We froze our wedding cake, but froze it solid first, then put it in an air tight plastic bag, then left it in the freezer. Yes it was good!!❤
Aweee yeahhhh new video!! Love you Taz!
I don't think we have all these freebies in regional Australia. You can get free meals at the casino if you are a member and have spent lots of money there in the past
You should do some reviewing of too good to go bags
We love a long video !!! ❤
