Hello Branwen. Enjoyable episode as always. Beautiful scenery and lots of it for the red grouse, crested tit and peregrine to shy away into. Yes indeed, they were Roe Deer. Good to see you are still adding to your big year list. And I'm sure you still have some surprises yet to show us. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us!
@@tonycritcher3419 thank you for watching! Indeed, those pesky three species just would not come out and play! Thanks for confirming the roe deer! I'm gradually learning mammals, but then there are fungi, plants, bugs, trees... It's endless! 😂
@@BranwenVlogs I struggle with dragon and damselfies and as you say. fungi. I went on a 'fungi foray' with the wildlife trust to improve my knowledge. Even the leader kept referring to a book, so there is hope for us all. Some he had to take away to identify! He even asked whether we wanted to take our edible finds home. None of us did due to the lack of confidence with the identifications. So he took them to enjoy. We were told at a later date that he had been quite ill after eating them! I'll stick to the things that can fly or scurry away!
@tonycritcher3419 oh my gosh! I live in low key horror of fungi so there's no way I'd be risking any of them 😅 Sounds like you made the wise choice there!
Great to see you up here in Scotland Branwen and thanks for such a great video . Your camerawork is brilliant and much appreciated and wonderful music as well. Caerlaverock is a fantastic place. I lived near Lockerbie for a few years in the late 90's and the whole area is incredibly beautiful and forgotten to most , who just head to the highlands without giving Dumfries & Galloway a try . I've never been able to spend much time in the Cairngorms which I plan to rectify soon. most of my life has been spent in the far NW up near Cape Wrath or down in the central belt and the South of the area , so its been really great to see your adventure. Many thanks and best wishes for your big year.
Thank you so much for the lovely comment! Scotland is so wonderful - there's such a range of nature around the country, and so much beautiful space. We've revisited the Cairngorms many times since our first visit, and it never disappoints. The forests and mountains are spectacular at any time of the year. I've never been up to Cape Wrath, but one day I dream of doing the north coast 500. Maybe another vlog adventure! And yes, whenever we visit Caerlaverock it strikes home how little we know about that area generally. Pretty sure we'll end up staying around there some time to explore. Happy holidays to you!
@@LittleLegoKids I'm so, so glad you got to meet up with us and be part of that chapter of the Year. Roseisle was the best spot of the week! So many amazing birds. Thank you for being such a brilliant guide! 💜
Another mesmerizing episode. I really enjoy tagging along with you and your folks, it's a real treat. Thank you :)

@@BranwenVlogs Thanks Branwen. Hope you have a great Festive time and some awesome birding in 2025
That looks like a ridiculously cool friend you have up North!
I live Caerlaverock. I saw my first tree sparrow, peregrine, and cuckoo there!

Everyone has to have a bogey bird Branwen. Good luck with your “hunt” 😊 for the Peregrine.
You're absolutely right! Thanks very much, and thanks for watching! :)
How big was that telescope your mum was looking through ?
@@MrStylemed I know! Huge right? Though not the best in terms of actually being a telescope 😂
