    In some ways Howards manifesto here was ahead of its time
    The issues he raised became an issue only after the financial crisis
    And he doesnt raise brexit
    Unfortunately for him he was up against a very accomplished politician in Blair

    You can tell Paxman despised Howard. Near the end of Paxman's interviews with Blair and Kennedy, Paxman softened up and gave the interviewees a break from all the grilling. Paxman didn't do that with Howard.

    If this man had become prime minister in 2005, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in now with immigration in the U.K.
    The best time to have clamped it down.

    • @laxeystu8096
      @laxeystu8096 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The govt today could 'clamp down' on immigration- they have the control, but they don't want to
      I assume for economic reasons (Labour shortages etc), although I've never heard it explained

    • @Da1Dez
      @Da1Dez 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Even if they did clamp it down now, the damage has already been done in regards to population and numbers concerning jobs and opportunity.

      The cap that he reffers, he would not of been able todo. Until 2019 we were members of the E.U.

      @user-hu1yi8ox9z We had control of non-EU migration before. Today's increased migration is non-EU.
      EU immigration was never really problem because it was mainly workers and was high value-added

      @laxeystu8096
      Accurately, skilled migration allot more of it and still does come from outside the E.U rather than inside the E.U. Same with students from overseas who subsidise are universities.
