Nate great video, Verizon just started offering this in my area been on TMHI since 2020, currently using as a back up to a fiber build that was completed in 2023, which as of late has become unstable in the evening prime time hours, 1gig D/U link dropping to like less than 5Mbps due to network saturation and over utilization by the provider. With the verzion Gateway, we got the gray model, just it show you bands that are connected to and any sort of tower id that its connected to, to reference with cell mapper?
@JMSynthetics hi, I don't think the verizon box shares that info unfortunately. Best i can do is use a verizon phone to see what it connects to but that of course is not error proof as the gateway could be picking another tower/cell and especially band.
@NaterTater , I got the verizon ask-NCM1100 model that looks similar however, underneath the modem, it doesnt have the screws to remove and take it apart. It has a circle in the center but I cant tell if there's a screw in the center to unscrew it from there. Would you know how take apart the ask-NCM1100 or direct me to a source on how to, so I can plug in my waveform pro antenna. Thanks
Does this WNC model gateway have the same IP Passthrough bug that the "ASKey" model has? I'm dying to use external router, but the ASK model was creating firewall clamping problems. Slow loading, some sites not connecting, on and off periodically. Total nightmare. Upgraded to the WNC and now I'm terrified to go through the trouble of setting up the TP Link router AGAIN. UGH.
boosters can/do work but are really not ideal for 5G or data throughput. Better for voice/text. th-cam.com/video/vn0EzM4FsMM/w-d-xo.html A 4x4 MIMO antenna will easily best a booster for data throughput. th-cam.com/video/bboYE4qcfDM/w-d-xo.html
B4 2:20 ish I would take a picture of the sticker on the bottom at 1 to 1 print it out and make sure I could read it and scan the copy. then I would take the extra 3 minutes and peel the entire sticker up. 300Mbps? that sucks. 5g can do better they dont even want to spend the money to make the towers, a single location capable.
Question if you see this and can respond. I"ve got one of the ARC-XCI55AX routers, you vids have been a huge help. Speed hasn''t been problem, it's more the stability of the connection. In non-peak hours I consistently hit around 300/15, with peak hours being more like 200/10. My bigger concern is stability, I'm admittedly in a fringe area with my 5G signal strength around -109 to -110 and LTE around -100 with a stock router. My issue is that the connection would drop for 10 second to a few minutes 5-10 times a day. I picked up a Waveform QuadPro, and aimed in the right direction I can get LTE to drop to -79 consistently but no matter where I point the antenna, I can't seem to get any improvement in my 5G signal. At this point I'm trying to figure out if I need to spend more time trying to aim the antenna or if the purchase was even worth it.
@jwhitecotton yes sounds like you do need to work on aiming. Waveform has great support, reach out via phone and chat with them. Also read through the instruction manual provided for good tips on how to aim it properly. For you a couple hours messing with it might pay off!
I hate to say it but that's a lot of work just to be able to hookup an External Antenna plus you kinda risk breaking the Gateway/Modem. Your best bet would be to just Purchase a Third Party Cellular Gateway/Modem like a Chester Cheetah or Chester Ninja Gateway/Modem that already has External Antenna Ports. I know Third Party Cellular Gateway/Modem's are more expensive and not everyone wants to spend that kinda money on them but they are worth it especially with all of the Features you get with them. Also Verizon needs to get with it like with how T-Mobile is actually allowing people to hookup External Antenna's to their Newest Gateway's like the G4AR.
@madmicky4088 I get about 40mbps down if I am on my main floor. Luckily I can get my gateways to a Loft but others that can't need an antenna to get that 300/20. Think also metal roof/siding houses.
@@NaterTater oh man.....i have mine way out in the garage behind some shelving and stuff everywhere and it gets good enough 200+ dl throughout my whole house.....these antanae wouldnt help me or make it worth it....the tmobile i used to have sucked so bad though and this probably would have helped. Night and day difference between companies where i live....verizon has absolutely horrendous customer service though and tmobile had great customer service....wish they could combine the strengths into one good company hahhaa love your videos

Which ports do I use or how do I find out what band I’m on for which ports if I’m using a 2x2 antenna?
I can't believe we still have to rip these thing apart to connect an antenna.
@@kevindumais9610 agreed!
ikr, it would seem that by now all the newer modems and gateways would have external antenna ports on the back
Will buying a hotspot antenna help with gaming latency? I get good upload and download speeds but my latency sit about 60-90

UGH.
@SixStringHarmonies I use DMZ as I have seen issues with IPPT but supposedly it works. Just not worth trying for me atleast.
Hi, just wonder can I signed up Verizon home internet then use it in mountain cabin which has Verizon service but not approved for home internet yet?
@achan7396 it will work and its against the terms of service
Any other options for the ask. Verizon besides lysys...thanks
Can you do This for ATT gateways?
@@terryontwowheels yes it can also be done on them
Hi
Great video - I have added a waveform and all my numbers are great except the sinr...what can be done to improve?
what is your SINR? do you have multiple towers around you? you can try blocking signal from other sources.
5 to 8
@mikehoward3991 yea that's low. I'd keep trying positions and aiming to improve it. Even if it hurts signal strength (monitor internet speed).
Any chance this will this help with ping?
Can you do it with the white cube ?
@sniperking305 yes with the ARC cube th-cam.com/video/x7TPU6dah7c/w-d-xo.html

@JoshF151Tech all good points except you can't use a 3rd party gateway with verizon home internet when the device they give you uses an eSIM.
@@NaterTaterTrue but some Third Party Gateway's support eSIM. Unfortunately it looks like eventually eSIM is gonna be the only way.
@JoshF151Tech but had anyone learned how to move an esim to a 3rd party router? If so I am behind the 8 ball as I didn't think it was figured out yet.
