    For the ppl complaining about the fingernails, are you here for the tech part or to get fingered? The man's a mechanic (even if a home mechanic), not a baker! Also, this is YT, you can always skip forward if the drilling part takes too long (what I did, no need to see how to drill a hole in real time, I believe it's not rocket science). I swear, some ppl just love complaining about everything.

      Well said mistreku!! For real, the things some people find necessary to complain about astonish me. Thanks for the video CruiserDayz and let the haters hate and the rest of us have some fun!

    As a professional steel worker I am slightly amused with your drilling. I can recommend using upright drill and some cooling agent so the drill bit won't heat up and then get dull. Othervice pretty interesting. you could have shortend the drilling part with the video editing.

      @CruiserDayz  9 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Yeah I know.... It is a bit embarrassing. All of my 1/8" drill bits were shot. Had a lot of videos to upload and spent my time editing the others. I figured a shitty video was better than none at all.

    Shims don't do anything if they're put on top of the c-clip. Shims are meant to go on the bottom to raise the needle and allow more fuel through.

    • @shawndaniels2846
      @shawndaniels2846 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Shims on top of the needle are by instruction from the manufacturer. The only reason to use one below is to raise the needle 1/2 step between the adjustments.

    I would have drilled a 2nd hole beside the original hole instead of making the hole bigger. That way it is reversible . If you have any issues you can fill the 2nd hole with rtv silicone and back to original..

      Arvid Grant The Hole allows better air flow to optimize the actuation of the diaphragm. Something the guys on the forums have been doing to make things better.

    What does enlarging that air hole do for the bike exactly ? Looks like maybe increase the throttle response?

    Next thing you do to bring the bike alive, punch the baffles out of the exhaust
    (I'm going to assume that since the carb has an aftermarket needle that it's already been fitted with a jet kit)

    Good video and very informative. I have a 1998 Vulcan 800A and I'm curious as to what intake/carb work you'd recommend if I cut the mufflers off the factory pipes and just run the straights?

    • @TrailerDayz
      @TrailerDayz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      An adjustable needle valve kit would be good. New jets also. If you have a bike shop around call then up. They can get you the parts cheap or do it for you.

      This has happened to me twice this year. As others said the float needle is stuck. Put an aftermarket fuel filter in and use high octane gas. At least this is what I'm trying. Otherwise I'll have to break down the carb every couple months.
