    Just wanted to comment and say thank you! I cleaned and rebuilt my carburetor today. Between the service manual and your video it was a very helpful and appreciated experience.
    Just a note to others watching, I highly recommend you open all chambers too. Bottom, top, sides etc, just as he did in the video. I found some sediment as well as a torn accelerator pump diaphragm. So it's definitely work checking everything while you have it off the bike and cleaning.
    Also, to try and fight the buildup of sediment from happening again, I installed an in-line fuel filter as well. I used the Wix (P/N 33027) which is perfectly sized for a motorcycle.

    very cool bike. i have a 95 vn 800. been through most of it as it was seriously abused before i found it. rusted , and leaking fuel , bad carb .
    now it is leak free , clean rust free and full of custom mods.
    i made forward controls , 34 " bars , custom seat and crazy rehab here and there.
    i only bought chain and sprockets and upholstery. all work by me , hand made. i trying to get a vid up about it . i have realy grown fond of this bike. ive eiden a vz 800 since it was new in 97 but engine size is only thing they share. the Suzuki is more powerful by far but Kawasaki sounds beautiful with the cobra exhaust. kawi is 110lbs heavier and rides nicer. i jetted it to match as the original owner just added pipes and no carb mods. now it sounds like a twin cam w 582 cams.
    ill say that the float fuel level is important in that carb..the jets can't work correctly if it's too high or low..pilot jet is at 2 and 1/4 put from stop. amd i drilled the slide to get better response. OH WOW DID THAT WORK!
    THAT IS NOT AACCELORATOR PUMP. IT IS A DECELEEATION ENRICHMENT VALVE. It REDUCES POPPING AND BACK FIRES ON ENGINE BRAKING.

    I lost my trust on NGK spark plugs. Few months back I replaced on my truck and after a month things started to go wrong. Misfire, blew up the air compressor, alternator, and a cat convertor. Two of the plugs found out under spec resistance. Anyways.
    I picked up cheap '98 v800 with lots of issues. Smoking exhaust, lots of wiring issues. Learning to fix and make it run.

    Quick question brotha....
    If I'm taking off my factory air filter and air box to put on Air pod filters instead......
    What do I do with all the extra hoses? That were connected to the air box?

      You’ll have to route them somewhere else. They’re just vents.

    Very good video! One question I have is in the service manual it says that you should measure the distance to the float while tilting the carburetor. When you measure it like you did the weight of the float pushes the needle down. Didn't you find that your engine was running a bit lean?

    • @thepursuit844
      @thepursuit844  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was hard for me to describe. You do not want the needle to by pushed down but you do want the float touching the needle. Does that make sense? It sounds like you are on the right track. The bike ran great after.

    • @Tym0n
      @Tym0n 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thepursuit844 Thanks for your answer! Makes sense to me! I also saw that it is specified with a tolerance of 2 mm. which seems pretty big so it could be that it is still within the specified range when you measure it the way you did.

    What is the exact name of that plastic piece you took off at 6:14? the bolt on mine is stripped to all hell (bought the bike used, would love to get that part fixed) It looks like a bolt that didn't originate on my bike. Had to rig it to stop blasting the air filter cap off. lol

      On kawasakipartshouse.com they call it an air filter center case. I hope that helps.

    Does all vacuum lines need to be assembled to get proper results?

    • @thepursuit844
      @thepursuit844  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Vacuum leaks will cause it not to run well.

      Yes. This one was a pain too. There should be an adjustment point. Make it fully slack and then try again. It takes some fiddling.

    • @thepursuit844
      @thepursuit844  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d have to refer to the service manual which I don’t have on hand at the moment. Off hand I would say, take the carb apart and replace with a different size jet.

    Hi, i had my vn800 for 3 months now, yesterday, the bike started leaking lots of gas, thats mainly beacuse of the limitation i did so i can legally drive it at 18yo. The limitation consostins in a piece of metal that is placed at the "air hole" or however is that call so the carburator inhales less air than usual, sorry for my broken english, but where can i find that air valve?

    • @thepursuit844
      @thepursuit844  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Leaking gas from where? Blocking off the air intake would not make it start leaking gas.

    • @vladguran8916
      @vladguran8916 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The amount of gas os disproportional with the amount of air coming in, so the gas makes the carb filthy because the gas cant be exhaisted properly

    • @vladguran8916
      @vladguran8916 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One more question,,, if i open the carb do i have to replace the diaphragm or the old one ots still fine

    • @vladguran8916
      @vladguran8916 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I meam the rubber part, idk if ots called the same in english

    • @thepursuit844
      @thepursuit844  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as the diaphragm is in good shape and not torn you can reuse it. Be very careful when handling it as they are very thin and fragile.
