Goated change, PvE player and more than half of my deaths are neck/throats one shots while I'm wearing a full kit. I swear even with neck protection I just died. So... for once, thanks Nikita.
Its definitely better, but changing it from a 1 shot to a 2 shot is still going to be annoying fairly often. It's still going to be a significant area that you can't cover well and can very quickly die to.
Dying to throat shots is completely realistic and not an annoying mechanic like having to reload your mags… Pushing this more towards call of duty again because people complaining about dying in a game that’s meant to be hard to survive in
@NotYourCitizenAnymore it is not realistic to instantly die to a shot through every part of your neck. It's important to remember in this game, for every realistic part, there are 3 unrealistic parts. This game is FAR from being hyper realistic
Fun fact the ANA Tactical M2 has class 3 aramid inserts. This rig typically goes for 35k if supply is good. This makes it one of the cheaper plate carries with this amount of protection in the game and one of few rigs you'll get back from insures because of the lack luster size (takes up 16 slots in space only provides 2 slots).
7:57 one reason i would give for NOT switching to armoured rigs is plates preservation: - You can't have 5+2 on thorax sides if you don't have class 5 plates - Armoured rigs give extra inventory slots, armoured vests take up 9-12(-16) inventory slots. - This means that: -- Armoured rigs (with the plates inside) will get taken by whoever kills you just for extra inventory space -- Armoured vests/plates from them will get taken by whoever kills you only if they scpecifically decide that they want to take your plates. - This, in turn, means that vests are much better at preserving plates. Especially crappy-looking vests (Kirasa, OTV, Zuk (press), 6b13, propane barter armour), because they probably won't even get checked.
Yup agree, my main armor last wipe was using the propane barter armour and people assume it's class 3, i bought the black korund to swap the plates in and sell the body so i basically got a class 5 armor hidden in plain sight for a very very good price
@Chevalier_knight you doing a smart thing doesn't mean that bad players are the only ones who don't do it. Also, even of the plates are checked, they still take up space, so aren't guaranteed to be taken.
I'm a PvE player and after reaching strength elite level, I ran nothing but armors that have class 3 soft armor for neck, preferably also for shoulders or maybe groin. My go-to armors have been Redut-T5, defender-2 and Osprey mk4a prot plate carrier. Only using level 5 plates, be it either titan or polymer, and make sure that they always have at least 80% of max durability tends to keep me alive very well against scavs and PMCs. Most of my deaths have been shots to face, nades or leg meta shotgun scavs.. and obviously some scav bosses and their guards can be a bit nutty. The only times I died to throat were from PMCs who managed to get through that class 3 soft body armor with some kind of bullet that had that 30 or so pen, but those cases have been pretty rare all in all. I'd even say that using level 3 face shields would save me more often than this change, but any edge I can get to stay alive against accidental random scav bullets is a good one.
@ Only 5 words and I already have three questions and a nitpick. What's in it for you, I'm genuinely curious are you worried about PvP mode player numbers or do you just want to dunk on casual players? And what's in it for me? I don't like to run into turbo virgins, megasweats and cheaters, I don't like wipes cos I don't have too much time to play video games, much less Tarkov as there are other games for me to enjoy as well. Lastly, how does playing PVP correlate to being a man, and playing PvE correlate to being something else? Lastly, the nitpick. Your sentence is missing the correct structure. There probably should be a comma after the word man, or word 'and' and you didn't even end your sentence with a period.
Im not trying to argue with you, I can only add my experience. Day of the change, I was randomly one tapped head , throat from scavs in 6 of my 8 deaths before I just quit the game for the day again. 2 of those deaths I had Korunds on and was one tapped with t-46 ammo from scavs. I find it incredibly weird how different things can work out for people doing the same thing.
@@Lyndsie1232 i think you might be confusing some things? getting onetapped in the throat by t46 is impossible since this change, since it doesnt do enough damage to black the thorax
no, what was needed was to fix AI not to reduce realism yet again. AI should not see you through bushes and some walls, they should not agro when you scope on them, and they definitely should not have aimbot to head, throat and armpit.
@@Lyndsie1232 this cant even be true. t46 cant 1 tap ur thorax so how could you possibly die to one shot? you must of been getting shot at and hit before the fatal shot hit you. work on your positioning. dying to scavs so often should honestly not be this common and if you are you are doing something very wrong.
Imo the first iteration of the armour plate system was the best but it needed better soft armour coverage and changes to the hitboxes like these. By just extending the plates the whole point of the update was lost somewhat. Hosing down targets with meh ammo and standing a decent chance at winning while armour piercing ammo still had an advantage was a great change in PvP fights, giving even lowly geared players a fair chance against meta slaves ahead of them in the progression.
How does the trooper face shield come into effect? Its class 2 neck protection, stack that with a t3 soft neck snd it should stop every scav bullet now no? Geest video as always.
Thanks for more Tarkov content. But I have a question. Why do you only use that one massive triangle dot sight? It seems a little gnarly over the t-1 mini dot sight or something similar like the 553 holographic or the tan holographic.
How specific are the hitboxes in Tarkov? What i mean is: if your armor armor says it has neck coverage, and someone shoots you in a bit of exposed flesh from a fold in the armor or something, does the bullet sneak by and bypass the armor (like they are seeing on their screen) or does the game go "oh, you have neck protection on your armor, so it doesnt matter if someone just down-bloused a bullet past your armor and saw flesh, we are deciding it hit neck armor"?
The bullets are physically rendered, they first strike your pmcs body, and whatever body part they hit the game then checks what armor you're wearing that covers that specific hit box, and calculates damage from there. Thats why you can see bullet hole in say the lower edge of a face shield, but died to a neck shot. Because of the angle, the bullet physically hit the face mask, but because the first body part it hit was your neck, and that faceshield doesn't cover your neck, you'll still die to that neck shot
Moving the neck hit box to the thorax, if it was part of the head hit box before have they now made it slighty more difficult for shooter born in heaven. Only slightly though?
Somehow today alone, 4 days after the patch/this video came out, Ive still died 4 times to thorax-neck/thorax-throat to shit ammo scavs. First 366 EKO from an AI scav, then a Poleva-6u slug from an AI scav. Then 54R SP BT from a playerscav. Then 5.45 PS from an AI scav. All these times I was wearing the ANA M2 rig with Global Armor Steel class 4 plates. I thoraxed a player wearing the level 6 zhuk while on my scav with .366 fmj. friendship with neck is over now neck is my best friend. Also do you think you could make a video on the possibility of the bugged arm penetration next
All this really does is require a double tap instead of a single. If you get two hits with anything that gets class 2 pen, you are dead anyway. Where this change I think does the most is that it makes it so SCAVs aren't so stupid deadly. Even with a bit of armor with neck coverage and a reasonable helmet, most of their shots stop being pure one taps. Just means they have to magically shoot out your legs again.
Im pretty sure anyone that get hit with any round in the neck is out of the fight but they want to play agame thats as relistic as playable but not really
I’ve had a TON of fights that by the end of it I have blacked out thorax or head. Should my character be dead? Sometimes I have a heavy bleed on an arm or leg but I’ve noticed just light bleeds still get the blacked head. Is this a bug? Do bleeds take your HP from your head down if the limb the bleed is on is blacked out? I know Nikita said the blacked head is a bug and they’ve never fixed it.

Lol when is "early wipe?" I have been killed twice by dudes over level 40 in the last week, meanwhile I still don't have flea. Players shouldn't have to grind Tarkov 24/7 just to get access to top-tier ammo that makes them combat-effective." Better gear should give you a bit of an advantage but the way things stand now it seems like it's back to the same face/leg meta stuff that existed before the armor reworks where dudes who can play the game all day just buy big armor and tank for days.

@ it's no free kills deep shit, it's called realism, and it's in a lot of games, not everyone has the same time to grind until unlocking good ammo, the hitboxes worked just fine
This was such an awful change. If someone can stab you in the neck and kill you, then why shouldn't a piece of buckshot that creates two unplugged holes do it? This was almost as bad as them reverting the nicely wrapped hitboxes for the armors/plates.
This change will further push players to PVE because in PVP, it will be harder to kill geared players if you join later in the wipe or play less than many in the player base. There was a time where it was definitely more difficult to kill geared players but with proper shot placement you could make your TTK more comparable. Yet another change for the streamers
I found that regeneration stims are even more relevant in that case to heal back thorax during a gunfight.

This was almost as bad as them reverting the nicely wrapped hitboxes for the armors/plates.
another step towards COD

This change will further push players to PVE because in PVP, it will be harder to kill geared players if you join later in the wipe or play less than many in the player base. There was a time where it was definitely more difficult to kill geared players but with proper shot placement you could make your TTK more comparable. Yet another change for the streamers
