    What's so special? Oh let me count the ways:
    1- Its an old-fashioned style of Champagne that doesn't cut corners: Cristal produces over 5 times the number of their premier crus than Bollinger
    2- the vineyards themselves are way more labout-intensive and given more space to express the terroir
    3- They have proper disgorgement in place for their premier crus, not that automated thing as other "premium" brands.
    4- the vines are older so the production per hectare is lower but the champagne in itself is so much flavourfull.
    Disclaimer: Bollinger fanboy here

    Love Bollinger, probably my fav big house together with Charles Heidsieck. I have few different Bollinger at home.. B13, Grande Année 2012 and rosé 2014, R.D 2007, PN VZ15 and a 007 special cuvée.

    I am awaiting an order of 4 bottles of the Bollinger Special Cuvee and looking forward to trying it. Also have an order for Tarlant Champagne which I have not tried yet. When visiting L'Ormarins estate in Franshoek / Stellenbosch in Feb this year, I sampled their Cap Classique - Private Cuvee and ended up shipping some back to the US - inexpensive and really nice.

      Hii. :) I would probably choose Bollinger, despite me liking Taittinger very much. I think the entry cuvee of Bollinger is one of the most exciting champagnes in the market. It is quite complex and rich for the introduction Champagne, and never have disappointed me.

    I’m looking at either the 1975 or 1985 Bollinger RD amongst other choices for a special dinner coming up, and I’m unfamiliar with the brand. Any thoughts on what such an aged vintage has to offer from the brand? Any thoughts from others, especially those who have drunk those specific vintages, are welcome!

    Hi Agnese, Great video (as usual) but this is one where I would not fully agree with you. My lasting memory of Bollinger is not a good one, many years ago I bought half a case of their Grand Annee 1996, upon opening the first bottle (a couple of years after purchase) it was corked, subsequent openings found three of the six bottles to be corked so I have never bought it since. I do keep my wine under proper conditions and keep some NV Champagnes (and vintage - I have some Pol Roger 1990 in my cellar) for years to see how they develop, yesterday I opened a bottle of Launois NV(one of my all time favorites) which was purchased in 2006, fabulous, amazing and it brought back some really happy family memories.

    • @NoSediment
      @NoSediment  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank You for Your comment. 🙏🏻 All is good, not all the time we need to agree with each other. That is fine. 😉 In other situation I would say that Bollinger is simply not Your style, but if it was corked it means it was spoiled. It is completely not Your fault and fortunately it is also not the fault of Bollinger house (maybe a little- because they have chosen a bad quality cork product). The packaging simply failed. 😓
      But I still understand You - those were not cheap Champagnes even back then and to simply pour it all out is painful and can ruin the whole experience with the house. 😳
      Fortunately there are other great Champagne houses as You mention Yourself. 🥂 Cheers! 🍾

    You’ll also notice that he’s had Veuve Clicquot, Tattinger, and Dom Perignon as well in a few films. But Bollinger definitely appears to be the favorite. Knowing how movie marketing works, these companies likely pay for the exposure, and apparently Bollinger has done the best job at getting advertising in James Bond movies haha

    • @NoSediment
      @NoSediment  ปีที่แล้ว

      Khmm, to be honest I have tasted more RD than Grande Annee, but I find these Champagnes quite vinous and concentrated, even more structured, than their regular cuvee. I remember some were arguing that RD is for immediate consumption - but I have never felt that, they age quite beautifully.
