  • I taste test the fruit, make Brix sweetness measurements, squeeze, measure and store the juice in charming empty Jif lemon shape bottles and peeled the rind to make a homemade limoncello. Those Meyer lemons looked really good, Mike! I really enjoyed eating mine fresh off the plant too. Very refreshing!

    Your lemons look and sound so beautiful - as do your parakeets. So amazing that they are wild in London.

      Thanks Dani. Those Parakeet are beautiful looking birds and they travel in packs, but sometimes the noise in my garden is overpowering 😁

      Wild parakeets in London? That's cool. We have bear, rattlesnake, alligators, and mountain lion in Arkansas but no parakeet!

      @@LoganShelton-rh3lp Hi Logan, given our limited summer, it is a pleasure sitting in my garden and watching the parakeets raid wild cherry trees close by to my garden wall 😁.

    Thanks Mike, a decent harvest 👍. I don't believe any citrus are truely sterile, some just have very low fertility or produce no viable pollen to fertilise their own flowers, however i assume with a compatible cross pollinator available that they can produce some seeds sporadically. The 'seedless' grapefruit I buy do on occasions have one or two viable seeds in 😁

      I would not be surprised if some cross pollination was not going on Brett. I had several flowering citrus trees growing in close proximity.

    So great to get a harvest! I'm still trying to get my lemon tree to fruit - I've given him a stern talking to!

      Lol. Hi PlasBch, I talk to my plants all the time. They appear to do better when I threaten to get rid of them.😁😁

    Making limoncello from my Meyer lemon harvest. After peeling and squeezing the Meyer lemons, their juice is carefully poured into Jif bottles for storage. Meanwhile, the lemon peels are placed in a glass jar, and white rum is added to cover the peels. The jar is then sealed, initiating the steeping process to create Meyer limoncello.

    I thought lemons flower when it starts to get cooler, did you induce flowering somehow ?

    • @myexoticfoodplants6727
      @myexoticfoodplants6727  หลายเดือนก่อน

      No Anouj, I did nothing to try and induce flowing of the Meyer lemon, but it has been rather cool in the garden for the last 3 weeks with night time temperatures sometimes in the low teens.
