    Very interesting. We have very rich volcanic soil and my 2 lemon meYers bought frOm a good nursery some 5 years ago are huge and always green but we get very few flowers or fruit. Hard to remember when actually. Should they come out as bad stock perhaps? We don't feed them at all as they are so green and leafy, but that's all they do. Any suggestions please? Also never pruned them. Should we? They are in a sheltered place between a wall and a small house and we do get temperatures around 0 in winter here in New Zealand, they've never been bothered at all.

      In the Season, they should Produce Blooms, if they are mature enough.
      Seeds grown lemon plant Takes around 5-8 years to get mature for Fruiting. But as it Produces a Few Blooms,it means it is Ready for flowering.
      So to boost Flowering, make sure of a Good Sunny Day, a Powerful Fertilizer & Some light Pruning. Pruning Helps in More Branching, that Can be Helpful, because most Blooms Appears on a New Branch.
      These Few Things Will Definitely Improve Your lemon's Flowering.

    • @Pure_Greeny
      @Pure_Greeny  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Dear, Pruning is done Only when the plant is showing new growth. If the plant is not growing, it might be under a Shock, that's why it's not showing new growth After pruning. Otherwise a growing plant definitely shows new growth.
      Make it growing first, & then prune. For that care is properly, use a well Draining Soil, put it in a sunny spot, use Fertilizer it once a month etc.

    Its been 2 years since I potted lemon tree & it's grown a lot bigger. Still it's not given any flowers. It gets full day sunlight, compost, & once/twice a week watering! Any help please?
    Should I prune it & feed a spoonful of urea?

    • @Pure_Greeny
      @Pure_Greeny  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In citrus Plants, flowers only came on the New Shoot's. Therefore Pruning is Extremely Important, Just Use a Clean Cutter and Cut 1 to 2 inches of Upper Tips. It helps to induce new Flower's on lemon tree.
      Slightly Prune your Lemon and wait for the spring for lot's of Flowers.
      Don't add Urea, you can use my own Lemon tree Organic Fertilizer from my Channel.
      And thanks for Your Support. 😊

    I am assuming its the same guide for like trees? My tree has produced and given flowers in the past. Since them it had been neglected in the green house and it lost its leaves, and also the trunk got almost dry. This year it grew beautiful green branches and the leaves are clean and green. I added chicken manure right in the beginning of the season. The lemon tree has flowers (same situation) but the lime
    tree does not. The paper attached to it, said that it flowers early-mid spring and harvest in the winter.

    Thank you for the excellent video. I have a 10 year old Meyer that I keep potted and at about 3 feet tall so I can bring it indoors in winter. But each year I bring it in, face it to a west window, and put it under grow lights, it gradually drops most of its leaves by spring. When I put it back out in May, it grows new leaves. Is this OK or do I need an intervention?

    • @Pure_Greeny
      @Pure_Greeny  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is due to the effect of temperature decrease happens In Winters, it is completely normal & you don't have to worry about this Thing.

      Meyers are very resilient, mine does the same. Even when it spent its first few years in my Arizona lawn before bringing it with me to Michigan, it still dropped leaves in the winter. Once it froze (26 deg F) and lost _all_ of its leaves and I swore it died but it came back better and stronger than before (and fruited for the first time). I think they just like to purge their foliage for some reason but it seems to be OK.

  • @TheLuc48

    Hello I have the impression that your lemon tree has not a lot of leaves! Is this normal or did you remove them to allow more juice to stream to the lemons ? Thank you for your reply. Greetings from Belgium. Luc

    • @Pure_Greeny
      @Pure_Greeny  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Some times, when the lemon tree Starts to produce flowers, it provides more of it's Energy & Nutrients only to the flowers for a Healthier reproduction. That causes the Leaves to Fell off by the deficiency of Nutrition. Therefore, providing a Powerful Fertilizer to lemon plant every month or Twice is really Important.
      Leaves are the basic parts of a plant & A plant with no leaves is really weak & also grow Really Slow.

      Yes Cut the upper Branch a Little it enforce the growth of New Branches and Lemon Flowers always grows on a new upper growing shoot. And also try to add a flowering fertilizer in your lime. I have made a video on that topic also.
      Lime tree have a desease that is dieback disease, in which the Plant dies. So when you cut the Branch try to use a Sharp and Pest free Cutter that is fully Disinfected.... It helps alot.
      Hope your plant Flowers soon.

      Springs are the Best Time for Pruning Lemon Plants. As Lemon Tree Comes up With Die back Diseases, so Don't go so much Aggressive with Pruning. Just A Light a Pruning To Keep the Plant In Shape is Best.

      Try to grow some indoor plants, like Areca palm, snake plant, spider plant & Syngoniums...
      & If you want to grow some of the Fruiting Plants, make sure you have a place with minimum 2-3 hours of sun. & Keep your plants there.
      Strawberries, pomegranate, & mostly root vegetables can also be grown in such a location. But still the production will be overage.

      Or you can try out some Fertilizers, that provides energy to the plant for Flowering And Fruiting.
      But you have to keep Fertilizing for about 2 months with 15 days interval.

      Lemon Tree Grown From Seeds Requires at least 4 to 6 Years to Produce it's First Flower. you can Graft it to Get Flowering & Fruiting on it, but seed Grown Lemon Tree take so Long to Produce Lemons.
      Best Thing could be Buying a Readymade Grafted Plant from Nursery or Grafting it with a Mature Lemon Tree.

      Falling of fruit is mainly cause by two reasons.
      It may be due to Nutrients Deficiency, or may be due to OverWatering issue. Overwatered fruits became little yellow and then fells off.
      For that water vert carefully, and try to add an organic fertilizer into it's Soil.

      I doesn't get your Point. Bees are Needed to Pollinate the Flowers into Fruit. For conversion of Flowers into fruit, pollination is Very important. For that, in nature Insects, wind & water are the some workers.
      If the plant is flowering, it means it's Ready to fruit, just it needs pollination. May be Your area lack the Pollinators, you can use hand pollination, or replace the plant to a new area.

    • @Pure_Greeny

      Because it's a Heavy Feeder plant, & When Flowering, the Energy of the Plant Is mainly used to feed it's Buds & Flowers. The main focus of the plant is on its Flowering & hence the Leaves Don't Find much Energy & Nutrition to Grow well. Therefore Sometimes all the leaves fells Off one by one.
      To prevent this problem, You can Try Out a Powerful Fertilizer otherwise the healthy blooming isn't possible.

      It's because it's struggling to survive in the pot and it's not receiving optimal conditions.
      The leaves look deficient in iron
      The soil pH is probably incorrect
      That's usually the problem
      Together with too much water or not enough water

      They can take up to 5+ years to bear fruit for the first time. Be patient. Mine didn't until year 7 and only after moving it from Arizona to Michigan. Now it's growing fruit totally out of control, I'm going to be buried in lemons soon. Going to need to set up a lemonade stand or something.

    Your plant Is very sick, i don't see any pest attack, it's probably the damage you did by over spraying your plant, or other reasons. No good gardener should ever spray things against insects on their main plants

    Neem oil kills bees too right??? I think best not to spray flowers, no need to spray flowers, use any insecticides carefully, they may repel bees. I'm a pest controller, so that's what I was taught.

      Use Neem oil only when you feel it's important, & Try To Avoid it in general.
      Application of Neem Oil once or twice a month as a Prevention can be very healing for your Plants.
      For Pests, Neem oil is the only effective Control option, so it is necessary for our use.

      Hey, Lemon tree's also need acidic soil (which is basically certain PH level, probably around 4 to 5.5 Ph,) and what PH level of the soil does is, it tells a root system how much food from the soil it can take, for example if you have wrong PH level of the soil, you can fertilize it as much as you want but the roots won't take any of it. You maybe get Sphagnum moss, and maybe add it around the tree, and maybe first carefully scrub some top soil around the lemon so the sphagnum moss take the quicker effect. Or other way is to add some sulfur I think. Maybe your soil is okay and it just needs fertilizer like the video creator already said, but those are some things to maybe help you even more.
      There are some ways to test if the PH soil is acidic, you can do it with 1. Vinegar and 2. baking soda I believe, One of those 2 things is used to show if soil is Acidic, and the other one is to test if it is Alkaline, you can easily google this unless you already know it, so if the test shows that you have acidic soil, you are good to go.
      I believe best organic fertilizer is Chicken poop, chicken Manure or whatever it's called, since Lemons love nitrogen, and chicken manure has the highest amount of nitrogen compared to the other components, for example N-P-K stands for Nitrogen - Phosphorus - Potasium, and chicken fertilizer is like 5 - 4 - 3,. meaning (5 of Nitrogen) - (4 of Phosphorus) (- 3 of Potasium). I hope this is useful to you or anyone else reading this, and not just taking your time, Peace.

      I think you should not be get confused of these things. Simply try the organic lemon Fertilizer that i had prepared. The video is on my channel.
      You are talking about the PH levels, that Fertilizer makes the soil a very little acidic that is enough for the lemon trees.
      The Problem is that the Soil must not be so much basic for an acidic natured plant. A little change is ok.
