I love how this video is teaching you all the basics while simultaniously giving us reference to many of other useful youtube channels that we can learn from. Really made the job of a learning cook a lot more easier. For learning something as necessry as cooking skills that we all should have been taught at school but wasn't, I am glad youtubers like this exist.

I'm an awful cook, and I want to learn so I made the red sauce at 19:04 as my first little cooking project.
I think my garlic chunks were a bit too big, but that's an easy fix. Overall it wasn't necessarily what I'd go for in a red sauce but definitely not bad at all. Thanks Nick!

\I knew from your grandmother this summer that you were “ quite a wonderful chef and had written a cookbook”. Much my surprise 4 months later I walked into my son’s kitchen in LA and what do I see but your cookbook propped up in a prominent place in their kitchen! My grandkids are mesmerized by you and are learning to cook, thanks to you!!! I am so thrilled for you and now will also follow you!! Can’t wait to talk to your grandmother!!!

I'm currently a culinary student but I'm more in the baking field rather than actual cooking. I did find cooking easier in a way compared to baking since one feels like more of an art and the other a science but at the same time I didn't learn a whole lot about cooking and could barely wrap my head around it. Thanks for this video Nick, definitely helps a ton and I did pre-order your cook book a couple months ago so yay😊❤

Nick, you should make this video available in multiple languages!
It would really help a lot of people who's trying to get into a culinary career but doesn't have the funds or locations to learn it. This video is great. I also agree with the one knife in the drawer, I only use a chef's knife but after moving back to Cambodia, I found myself attached to the cleaver because the weight helps with the momentum of the chops, very versatile in my opinion!
    - Spanish
    - French
    - Chinese
    - Khmer
    - Thai
    - Vietnamese
    - Burmese
    - etc.

I’m 15 right now and very interested in cooking, especially because I believe that it is a skill that everyone should learn at least at the basic level. It’s also gonna be convenient for me to learn because I want my meals to be healthy l, which means I need to learn how to make them myself because of my fitness goals. Hopefully, by the end of 2024, I’ll be very good at this. Thank you, Nick.
