Morning Peter, I remember thinking at the time that this will make a perfect short video. I am happy to report the waterproofs did their job and everything underneath was dry at the end of the day. It is all part of the fun but I do find it easier to deal with the cold and rain than very hot weather, that's living in Scotland for you :)
@blearyview2254 Modern textiles certainly are effective both in keeping you warm and in this case, dry and that jacket of yours really let's others see you 👍 Yes a short from this would work very well 🌧️
Evening Paul, the drawbridge is not something we see a lot of in the country but there are loads in the Netherlands. The next day I was on a dual carriageway/motorway and the tailbacks were huge, it was another bridge being lifted to let a boat through, I thought it was an accident at first as traffic was at a standstill.
Morning Dave, I do like to share the fun :) but at least you got to experience the rain from the comfort of your home haha. I did have a great day's riding even though it was wet. At one point I stopped at an underpass to shelter from the weather as it got even worse but I did not have the camera running.
Your on a Honda NT 1100 With great weather protection, and music to sing along too as you ride, How can you not be happy even if its raining. Good to see some video footage of motorcycling in all weathers. Thanks Alex.
Morning Joe, Aye, the does give terrific weather protection although it still has to master the driving rain coming from either side :) I have had bad weather on three out of my last four tours so well prepared for the worst.
Absolutely spot-on Alex, after so many bone-dry trips to the Iberian peninsula, this year's experience came as a real shock to the system! This one of yours couldn't be more applicable! Cheers and ride safe as always. 👍
Three out of four tours I have done had really bad weather days. I got caught on Shetland and even worse on Orkney, the storms were mental. I have never been so wet heading down the home from Orkney, the clothes under my waterproofs were wet. It got between my jacket and bottoms and ran down the back of my neck and up into my helmet. I was happy to get home for sure.
Rain without mountains and hills now there's a conundrum, still I guess the Tulips and Tomatoes need water to grow. Glad to see it didn't dampen your spirits, you were almost breaking into headbanging there Alex.😊
Morning Michael, hope you have that shed done and dusted 🤞Rain is part and parcel of touring it just this one went a bit mental so I thought I would share the joy 😁I do enjoy a wee tune while doing these long stints on the bike.
@blearyview2254 The shed's done just need to lay slabs in front of it but the new bike's already in it. Now I have a dilemma over the KTM, it's PCP is up in April and I had planned to buy it as I've so much invested in it. Now I'm not sure, I might have to just cut my losses, we'll see how things are nearer the time.
Morning Nige, damm, here's me thinking Dorset was a sunshine state, another bubble burst :) I am really getting to know how I like to use the 360 camera and keep with editing as short as possible, it a brilliant little device. The sound into the camera is a problem and if I had the radio mic connected during the rain storm then that would have been a bad day at the office. I am hoping the DJI 360 camera works wirelessly with the new mini mic set and that would be perfect.
@@Tojj29 Tech has come on leaps and bounds now, they just need to sort out recording of the bike comms so that it comes out at a decent quality, but it will come.
Hi from a new(ish) subscriber! Thoroughly enjoy your videos, especially as I’ve just had a new 2025 NT1100 DCT ES delivered - my first NT, and first DCT bike! Tomorrow will be my first ride on it… Can I just ask, do you find the tank bag to be waterproof, and what is your chain maintenance regime whilst on tour? ( I’ve had shaft/belt drive bikes for the last 20 years..). Many thanks, regards Paul
Hello Paul, thanks for the sub and the kind words. It is always good to hear supportive feedback👍 You are making me jealous, I would get the new ES in a heartbeat but I would lose way too much money, hey ho. The DCT is wonderful on a tourer, just never stay in Drive, S1 is way better for the bike and S2 starts to get the engine singing. The Tank bag is totally waterproof, I was in a five hour downpour on my journey home from Orkney during a massive storm and when over in Europe in 2024 where I encountered lots of rain (there are plenty videos for both trips showing how bad the weather was). The chain on my NT is proven to be very good and got to say I have not had to do a lot of maintenance. It was cleaned and lubbed before I left for Europe and never felt the need to do anything until I got home and even then it was still well protected. The OEM chain on my NC750X was not great but the NT is way better quality. I hope the weather is good to you tomorrow and enjoy the bike which I think is a terrific package. Alex
@ thanks Alex, yes my research on TH-cam suggested to me that S1 would be a better option, especially when running-in the bike, as I feel the low revs in D could labour the engine a tad (it’s clearly designed to be driven in D mode from the off, but I’m old school…!). Reassuring to hear about the chain quality, but no doubt I’ll still take far too many cleaning & lubing products with me on tour! Good to hear about the tank bag as well, it will make a nice change not having to faff about with a cover for once.. All the best, Paul
Oh lovely 😂😂. Very nicely done Alex. A Caribbean tour next time 🤔🌞

Thank goodness for modern waterproofs 🌧 Love the bridge action👍

Love this video mate 👍🏻
Evening Dave, I loved the tour to Norway but itdid rain a bit haha.
Morning Alex really enjoyed that .apart from the rain. Shame. But the scenery and MUSIC were great .I was bopping along with you mate..old Dave 😅

Yep, been there done that, not pleasant at all. 😎
lol yes Alex, in europe it's only ever brand new tarmac, sunny skys and unicorn glitter farts 😅
Morning Dunc, the missing Unicorn farts was the biggest disappointment :)

Can't all be sunny days. At least you have a good attitude! 😂
No indeed and no point being miserable just because it rains. If that was the case I would never get out on the bike, it rains all the time here :)
Ahhhhhh, the joys of biking eh 😂
That's what's nice about Dorset, it's always summer down here😂😂😂 NOT!!!

@blearyview2254 I think it is bound to work with it when it comes out. Big selling point now I reckon
